《Era: Dawn of the New Gods》Chapter 78: Breakout

Mira heard their story and told them “Well look no more. Our time has arrived, since we all know what we can do. We can work on a plan”
Gbenga said “We can incite a battle between the Rank 7 horde west of here and the horde you just passed by” Mira nodded and said “So how do we do that?” Gbenga answered “We fight the Rank 7 horde; the Rank 7 horde knows us already so they will send out a bunch of Rank 5 spawns to kill us. We’ll then run into the undead horde. If we make it the undead will fight against us and the Rank 5 spawns. With that you should have enough leeway to kill the boss”
Mira said “I think the boss will come out the moment a bunch of Rank 5s enter its territory, it came out before I left and that was when it thought it had hundreds of Rank 5s. With most of them gone, I think it will directly defend its territory if a Rank 5 enters it, so it will most likely be a head on fight. We can’t just leave the fight either as it would be able to instantly kill the spawns we bring and go after us so I’ll keep it busy and try to kill it while you guys try to defeat the other Rank 5 undead without killing the spawns first”.
Gbenga thought ‘It’s a hard plan, but it’s our best choice. Although if she dies we will die too’ he looked at his group members and they showed their agreement with a nod. Gbenga said “Fine, let’s go for it”.
They went to the Rank 7 horde’s territory and to Mira’s surprise, the Rank 1 – 4 spawns ran away and 28 Rank 5 monsters ran to meet them. The horde monsters looked like jellyfishes made of concrete and various building materials, they walked on with tentacles.
The Rank 5 monsters that were coming toward them were bigger jelly fishes made of metal and large amounts of electricity were arcing around their body. They were ‘Rank 5 Cyanea Ferrum’ they hopped with their tentacles toward them they were as big as lion’s mane jellyfishes.

The group ran away from the spawns toward the undead horde, the jellyfishes sent bolts of electricity toward them as they chased. Mira was amazed at the sight of the spawns, Jade had told her about them but she had never seen one.
They swiftly made their way to the undead horde; the jellyfishes weren’t made for a chase; they were fast but their movement lacked precision, the group kept changing the direction they ran to and it caused the metal jellyfishes to lag behind even with their great hopping speed. This weakness was why Gbenga’s group had been able to evade them all this time.
When the Minds noticed the group and the chasers, hopping from building to building, they immediately alerted their superiors and the Rank 5s and withdrew the lower Rank undead. Mira said as they ran “Since the Rank 5s chasing us are more than the Rank 5s of this horde this going to go better than expected”
The Rank 5 undead jumped adjacent to them and a brawl began. The jellyfishes were trying to fight them but the undead were attacking both parties. The monsters consider other monsters as alien when they become Rank 7. The battle continued for a 2 minutes, during those 2 minutes 8 undead had died due to Mira’s sneak attacks.
The battle paused when the Duke Mind came to battle, carried by 5 Brawlers. It sent a psychic attack at all the parties. The 3 Minds protected the undead from the attack while Bella protected the High Humans from the attack. The jellyfishes fell back and retreated after the attack; the Rank 7 that made them had directed them to always run away from higher ranked creatures.
The undead positioned their selves to face the High Humans, the Brawlers set the Duke Mind down while Mira positioned herself to face the Duke Mind; just outside its energy zone. The second round began and Mira dashed around the Duke Minds energy zone while the Brawlers sent flying aura punches at her.

Mira increased her heart rate and blood pressure, her body temperature shoot up and she increased in speed. She sent aura attacks toward the Duke Mind but the Brawlers blocked them with their aura enhanced bodies. The Duke Mind just condensed its energy, reducing its energy zone’s size, preparing for an attack.
Mira was weary of the Duke Mind’s energy zone but her attempts to attack it while being outside of it were futile. The Brawlers didn’t leave the Duke Mind’s energy zone, no matter what. Mira sighed and thought ‘Head on long range fights aren’t my fort now that I’ve lost all my knives’. She entered the energy zone of the Duke Mind and to her surprise the Duke Mind didn’t attack her.
The Duke Mind saw her as a Rank 5 small fry and left her up to the other Rank 5s, it didn’t recognize her as the intruder that killed most of its Rank 5s since every undead that saw her had died. The Duke Mind was charging an attack that would ignore its undead and only hurt the High Humans, it was an attack that took time to charge, especially for a Mind which was and evolution of undead that was not wholly made for combat.
Mira smiled as she thought ‘If its close range I have a chance’. 3 of the Brawlers came to battle her while the other two remained behind to protect the Duke Mind.
Mira could see the possible movement of every one of her opponents and always placed herself in the most advantageous position. The Brawlers were strong and fast but their movements were like children’s movements in Mira’s eyes, she knew what they were most likely to do and she moved herself accordingly.
A moment after the 3 Brawlers engaged Mira they were all dead; one was beheaded, the other had a cut that went down its face and the last one had a huge gash from an aura slash in the middle of its chest. The Duke Mind was alerted; it stopped charging its attack and sent it toward Mira unfinished.
Mira activated her boots ability and jumped at that exact moment. Immediately after she was a few meter in the air; the psychic attack had missed. She sent a flurry of aura slashes toward the Duke Mind which was blocked by its Brawlers as she retreated into the room of a building about 5 stories above ground.
She knew that the Duke Mind wouldn’t send its Brawlers out again, it had seen her easily dispatch 3 Brawlers, it knew that her threat level was Rank 6. Mira readied herself for a lounge while the Duke Mind charged another attack. Mira’s boots charged with yellow aura while Havoc charged with blue and yellow aura.
Just as the Duke Mind sent out it psychic attack, Mira disappeared and reappeared in the air above the building, Havoc raised up above her head. Her instant acceleration had caused the Duke Mind’s attack to miss. A giant blue aura slash flew toward the Duke Mind and the 2 Brawlers put themselves in its path, aura covering their bodies.
The slash sailed through the Brawlers’ bodies and hit the Duke Mind creating a deep cut on it. Mira maneuver through the air and hacked at the Duke Mind with Havoc until its death was confirmed by the IP. The battle between Gbenga’s group and the undead was, to Mira’s surprise, finished.
Bella had intercepted with the Minds’ psychic transmissions and confused the undead, without coordination the undead lost. Mira’s battle was just as short as theirs. Mira said as the last Mind was finished off “This was kinda anti-climatic”. Gbenga nodded.
They left the undead territory afterward.

Haven in a Dangerous World (Old)
Devin McMullen. Female. 18. Single dad. Dead mom. Good in fights and little else. No friends. Or, at least, that's what she's always been. Now, she's not sure exactly what she is. She's never been one for reading fiction, or anything for that matter, but this feels like something straight out of a fantasy. Her newly acquired instincts, however, scream dungeon core. Whatever that is. Unlike most dungeon cores, though, she's missing something very important. A dungeon. Stuck out in the open, above ground where she's definitely not supposed to be, with not a cave in sight, or any other land form besides miles and miles of ice and snow, Devin's not sure if she can survive. Update: Big caveate, though, just so you know. Started with this one idea and ran with it as far as I could. Characters and plot suffer from it, but I'm proud that I wrote as much as I did. I will rewrite this at some point and make it so it actually has plot. Check out my wordpress © [koallary] and [Haven in a Dangerous World], [2017]. Welcome to the fantastic world of Bios. Another world, not much unlike our own, with some exceptions, such as, say, the presence of gods, demons, and magic. While things like these were once common knowledge, the Great Witch Hunt, which occurred 500 years ago, forced most of the magicians who survived into hiding, and many of the old religions to disappear, with the exception of a few. And so, as time went on, history was rewritten, and those amazing things became, to the population at large, the stuff of legends. However, in the year of 2017 A.S. (Anno Salvator), a group of teenagers find themselves pulled into the magical side of Bios as they encounter the Magic Knight Forces, discover dark secrets, and realize that a great threat is rising from its long sleep...
