《Undying Soul》Part 06 : Daylen Bright---Chapter 03

Daylen had just learned from Ella that she had appeared in the dark faction.
For Daylen to be in the light faction, he was considered an enemy if he was to journey there.
The inhabitants of the dreamscape were at odds with each other and the dreamwalkers found themselves in the middle of the conflicts.
"I cannot stay in the streets forever." Daylen complained. He still had twenty pure crystals left after spending five pure crystals to add his sister to his contacts.
He thought of something: "Can I send pure crystals to my sister?" He knew that his sister was daring enough to start hunting as soon as she arrived in the dreamscape but wanted to help her as he had stumbled upon an inheritance. His luck could also benefit her.
Yes. Just say the amount.
"Ten."
Are you sure? They are not so easy to earn.
Daylen rolled his eyes and said : "I don't care. Just do it."
Sure.
Daylen could hear a distant smirk directed at him.
"I want to buy a two storey building in the commercial district. I want it perfectly suited for a blacksmith." Daylen asked.
He still could not forget how he had been turned down by everybody in the city as he was looking for a job.
He wanted his own shop.
The grimoire wrote :
There are three places available.
"I want the cheapest. Show me the price and address."
1 600 000 000 aura crystals/ 1,6 pure crystals 89 Redbee street, Southedge City
"Not bad." He was looking at the images of the place the grimoire was showing him.
He bought it.
He went around the city and bought all the materials he needed to get him started.
He named his shop "The Herald's hammer."
He started forging.
He was interested to see just how real this dreamscape was.
Forging was his second nature. It was his previous job as an assistant blacksmith that put food on the table. He had put sweat and time into forging ever since he started holding a hammer. His father taught him that gaining a useful set of skill was the first thing a man had to do in life. Being able to earn a living with those skills was also a blessing in disguise as those skills belonged to you.
He picked up forging from his father. His talent for forging came after hard work and late sleepless nights.
"It's too easy. Easier than I remember. Is it because I reached the 12th divine stage?" Daylen asked himself.
There was a variety of weapons stacked in front of him.
There is a skill for forging that could be helpful if you took the time to complete a simple quest.
"What is it?" Daylen looked at the grimoire.
The Art of aura congealing :
Blacksmithing: Congeal aura from the surroundings into the hammer while hammering. Your products will be imbued with aura for as long as you hammer resulting in the creation of a stronger weapon. The aura can also be used to polish the product according to the user's wish.
Other : Add ambient aura into your attacks. The aura around you is at your beck and call.
"There is such a thing?" He was starting to feel suspicious, but said : "I'll take it' but what is the difficulty level?"
God level : easy.
"Do you mean that it's easy?" Daylen asked.
Yes. Accept quest?
"Yes. What do I have to do?"
Simple. Find and kill the Arcane Mirror Dragon. An aura congealing core will be part of the drops you have to acquire it and absorb it.

"I guess since I just unknowingly accepted to kill a dragon. I cannot abandon the quest?"
No.
"Are you even on my side here? You are sending me to kill a dragon when all I know is blacksmithing." A man reprimanded a grimoire.
... Use the hammer to kill the dragon?
"Show me the dragon's stats."
An image of the dragon appeared

"Alright. I'm done complaining." The rewards were worth the effort, but it seemed to be impossible alone. He needed a capable team.
"Since the divine dreamscape is the starting point and only allows the 12th stage, it stands to reason that all living beings in this divine dreamscape are of the same level. It's the abilities that one wields that make the difference. This dragon is a good example."
"Show me my stats again."

Pure crystals 6,2
"If I only knew how to use half of my own power." Daylen mused to himself.
I can teach you for 2 pure crystals.
"Aliright."
In the Firehill forest.
Daylen was trying to learn how to control the shadow of the trees. He wanted them to move as he wished.
The shadow of a tree twisted like a snake but failed to extend it self towards Daylen.
-Step 1: think of the targeted result
-Step 2: burn aura
-Step 3: make a hand gesture as if calling the shadow to help the process of controling the shadow
You are a shade walker now. It should be a second nature to you to become one with the shadows. Your aura now has the color of darkness inside of it. Stop second guessing yourself and let go of your worries. Think of it as the same as your bloodline ability that lets you control the earth.

Controling the earth was way too easy for Daylen than using the other abilities. The degree of afinity he had with the earth was even startling for a bloodline ability. Him and the earth moved as one and provided he had enough aura, he could make the earth below his feet do anything he wished.
As for the other abilitites he had previously inherited, they gave him a headache.
He knew he could never control them like he controlled the earth but he still tried. For some reason, learning that he could create weapons imbued with aura motivated him to gain the aura congealing ability. Creating mundane weapons seemed unappealing.
He could immagine aura wielders visiting his shop to buy divine weapons and transcendant weapons. He could see himself becoming even richer than the king himself.
"It worked." he screamed out as a tendril of the tree's shadow had left the ground to stand in the air.
Good. Now supply aura to the shadow to give it a supply of energy and uproot it from the ground.
He did as he was told. Just like he controlled the earth with aura, he did the same with the shadow. the shadow floated in the air and listened to Daylen's orders.
He used his imagination to make it take many forms. Of course, every transformation demanded a corresponding amount of aura to be burned.
He made it look like an arrow and sent it flying to the nearest tree with just his mind.
Supply aura to your own shadow and make a circle with as much radius as you can muster.
A circle with a radius of a dozen meters appeared under his feet. "What now?"
Think of the furthest part of the circle and wish to appear there. Do not think too much. Just do it with a single thought.
He closed his eyes and concentrated in the circle he had just made. He chose the a radom place nine meters away and wished to appear there.
His body turned in a puff of black smoke that dissappeared under his feet only to appear and reconstruct his body at the place he had previously chosen. "Wow." He was too amazed to stop. He shifted from one point to another. He then had the idea of turning the circle into a serpent like shadow that touched every shadow in the vicinity.
Close to fifty shadows of the trees and boulders were connected to him. He even added a few more shadows by making more boulders with his terrakinesis.
He practissed his ability to shift from one place to another through the shadows until he had no more aura left.
He had realized that he became formless before every transposition. "It must be the darkness incarnate that allows me to pass through objects unhindered."
After recuparating, he practissed his darkness incarnate ability for a while.
"What do we do about the Unded rites?"
You can keep the corpses and souls you stumble upon during quests or hunts. I can teach you later how to reanimate the corpses and how to control the souls.
"Where am I going to keep such things?"
You can buy storage space inside the grimoire. A single page can be divided into 6 parts. One item per part. One page costs 0,5 pure crystals. You have unlimited pages you can buy.
"Sigh..."
"Hum?"
An arrow was coming for his left eye. He only had the time to turn his body into the incarnation of darkness before he heard the tree behind him exploding.
"Wow...No one has ever survived a surprise attack from me. You're the first whose life I could not claim with my first arrow." A delicate voice said.
A woman wearing a hunter's attire jumped from the branch she was shooting the arrow from.
"An interresting ability you got there. I am sure that you cannot hold that unkillable appearance for long." She said with a sinister smile.
She was right. Right now, Daylen was burning through the little amount of aura he had just recuperated.
"Give me all your aura crystals if you want to live." She said.
Daylen asked the grimoire: "What happens if I die?"
You can choose to lose an ability or be downgraded to the 11th stage either in body or soul. Your choice.
"What are my options right now?"
-Use aura crystals to replenish youself and then run away.
Even if you die and are downgraded to the 11th stage, you have enough pure crystals to reach the ascendant realm.
I advise you to run to save your pure crystals. She is too strong for you to handle right now.
"Right, she asked for aura crystals. What happens if she learns that I have pure crystals?"
She will hunt you down forever even if you have one pure crystal.
He finaly understood the rarity of his possessions. He could not bear to lose his abilities nor lose his 12th stage, the pure crystals even more.
"Use aura crystals to replenish me. I will fight. I need the experience. If I die, use a pure crystal to bring me back to the 12th stage." He mentally said before he felt his aura being replenished.
He said to the woman :"I am not intersted in your puny little aura crystals, but I will fight you." The meaning was clear. He had something better than aura crystals.
The woman said : "Good. I do not know how you got your hands on pure crystals but they are now mine."
An arrow came flying as Daylen retook his human form. He shifted to another location. He had erected a domain in the forest. If you looked carefuly, there was a needle sized shadow going from shadow to shadow in a circular pattern. From the sky it looked like a spider's nest.
The woman was incensed as she could not catch up with the speed Daylen was avoiding her arrows.
Careful. She is about to use her bloodline ability.
The woman flew in the air and stopped at about twenty-five meters over the forest. She nocked three arrows, pulled the string and aimed at the forest down below.
"What the heck? She can't even see me from there. What is she aiming at?" Daylen asked the grimoire.
You teleported so many times that she realized that you need shadows to move around. She also thinks that you cannot fight in the air like her or you will lose your advantage.
Daylen widened his eyes as he understood: "She is going to destroy this entire area. She has such an ability?"
Whirlpools appeared on the three arrows as she releassed them.
The whirlpools gradually became a hunded meter long as three violent tornados appeared out of nowhere.
"Shit." said Daylen as he opened a pit below him and entered it. He went deep enough until he felt safe then used his connection with the earth to feel what was happening on the surface.

8 123Witch Hunt. A Warhammer Fiction
The adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt continue!Adebar von Bolstedt, fugitive noble scion of the Empire, stuck in the Great Forest of Talabecland, is gravely wounded by the bestial denizens of the dark wintery woods, only surviving due to the timely arrival of aid and relief in the form of the masters of this land. What begins as a pleasant stay with the wild noblemen of Talabecland soon becomes a matter of faith and tradition as old as the Empire itself, when he finds himself trying to root out a coven of witches from a society that prides itself on rural living and knowledge of the mysteries of the wild. This quest will either see von Bolstedt's shaken faith in his own god reforged into an intolerant blade, or shattered like ice. Word from the AuthorGreetings! Witch Hunt plays out in the much beloved Warhammer Fantasy setting (owned, of course, by Games Workshop). Do not fret, however, as I've made it a point to make the story digestible even to the uninitiated, and maybe even be a good introduction to the setting. This is the second part of the adventures of Adebar von Bolstedt, as such I recommend reading part one, titled "The Hand of Sigmar" first. While I cannot claim the places, concepts and gods etc. mentioned within as my own, the story and all characters flowed from my own fingers.
