《Undying Soul》Part 02 : Vampire spirit---Chapter 05 of 06

Almost all the shapeshifters of the Newwolf continent had been killed. Only those that lived in harmony with the humans were spared.
Fangs’ had facilitated the duo’s rise to the divine level as promised. He only showed the way and Nilus was happy to harvest as many souls as possible.
Before long the humans living on the Newwolf continent had become the majority.
Fangs used his Assassin guild to annex the whole continent under his rule.
No one objected.
Even the kings of the shapeshifters, the Void clan, had disappeared in the wind as they saw that they had no fighting chance against the three humans and the black cat.
The void clan was a little clan of divine level true shapeshifters. They had lorded over the Newwolf continent for centuries.
Their ability to shift into any living lifeform was a symbol of royalty for the shapeshifters on all continents. It was an ability that had no real limit. The ability ate aura to allow the shifter to shift into anything and modify any part of the body at will.
The body took the same place as the aura for its malleability.
The void clan kept the numbers of their progeny low to protect their bloodline. They numbered in the dozens.
“I want the true shapeshifting ability.” Cale said. He continued: “We need to find them. We found every major shapeshifting clan but the Void clan seems to have vanished.”
“They might be walking around in the human cities on any continent as if nothing had happened.” Graxx said. He was back on his flying pillow.
“He is right. All they have to do is turn into a harmless human and even usurp an identity to completely hide from us.” Fangs agreed. He turned to Nilus and added: “Your ability to see with your mind must have a maximum radius in the tens of kilometers by now. We will scour the continent. Just look for a weird human soul. If we are lucky we might find a few of them. ”
They looked around the Newwolf continent for weeks but found nothing.
They abandoned their search and headed for the Darkcloud continent to finish off the vampires.
Only Nilus could profit from the killing of vampires. They had no souls and only stored their aura in their blood.
Cale and Fangs had accomplished their goals in the Newwolf continent.

High ranked members of the vampire prime clans and the twenty-six members of the Void clan were having a heated conversation.
The void clan had fled to the Vulpin clan to ask for help.
The progenitor of the shapeshifter vampire clan, Briar Vulpin, was a former member of the Void clan before he chose to turn into a vampire.

When the Void clan arrived, they were surprised to find out that the prime clans were preparing for a war with an unknown enemy. The second strongest prime vampire clan had been eradicated in a single day.
The Void clan immediately linked their demise with their enemy.
“Three humans and a cat. Is this a joke? Are they above the divine stage?” The young progenitor of the Macnius clan, Ashtus Macnius, said as he angrily broke the armrest of his chair.
“No. From what we know, they are just at the divine stage, but their powers defy common sense for humans. My guess is that they are contractors. There is a young man with a weird green aura that kills instantly.” The Alpha of the Void clan, Tane Vulpin, said.
“That green aura was also mentioned by the vampires of the wind clan who managed to escape it. They say that a single flash of it deprived their fallen comrades of their energy.” Luna Jirich, one of the progenitors of the Jirich clan said.
“We pushed the humans too far. We are just getting what we are owed.” An old man said. He was the strongest of them all. He was also the oldest vampire in the room as well as being the oldest progenitor of the Macnius clan. Storm Macnius. He continued: “ I’ve been a true vampire for as long as I can remember. The memories before that are being replaced by others.”
As an after effect of the vampire blood eating the soul, that served as a relay to the true soul, to complete the vampire transformation, there was a limit to the memories that the body itself could contain without the soul.
Storm continued: “I am so close to the next level, yet death is just around the corner for an immortal such as me. Sigh…I wish I knew what my true origins were. Over the centuries, I’ve been trying to hold on to those memories and even wrote a journal. Only one thing that I wrote makes sense. That only this Blood spirit bloodline of mine can reach the Vampire spirit realm. The ultimate realm that is of the same level as the rumored soul eating ability. Maybe they are of the same origin.”
“What are you getting at old Storm?” Ashtus Macnius asked with a frown
“If I am not wrong, you are going to war with the only being you should not. A soul eater.” He stopped to let everybody digest what he had just said. He continued: “In my journal, there is a species that humans randomly give birth to. They are rare and you never know when they appear. They eat all kinds of energy just like us, but the difference is that they store it inside their soul core.
Even if you went to war with ten times more men than you have now. A soul eater of the divine level will kill you all on his own. You’ll never even get the chance to touch him.”

The room was instantly plagued with an eerie silence.
They all respected Storm and wanted to believe him, but it was too hard to accept death as certain as it was.
Everything Storm said made sense. No one could refute his conjectures.
Storm sighed and broke the silence: “If you still want to live, I have a solution that may benefit all of you.”
No one asked what it was, they just intently stared at him.
“First, all the vampires shall turn into the blood spirit bloodline. Second, you are to pledge allegiance to the Soul eater without conditions but what he will tell you to do. Third, you must offer all your savings of aura crystals to him as a gift. That is all you have to do. Just pray that my sacrifice will be enough to appease his anger. If you mess things up now, you will all end up like the Wind bloodline.” Storm sternly said.
“Sacrifice?” Some inquired.
“I’ve been dead for a long time. I am just a shadow of my true self. My earliest memories are inside a journal. It is a joke for me to keep living like this. I just hope that all of you will be able to reach the vampire spirit realm before you start losing your memories. I’ve been contemplating true death for a while now and this might be the only chance my bloodline can reach the vampire spirit realm through the soul eater. I have no qualms in leaving my comrades in the hands of a suitable leader. My death will be just a formality.” Storm said as he stood up and left.
Before he passed through the door, he said: “If you are stupid enough to think that a soul eater is nothing but a human, kill yourselves now and do not embarrass yourselves by dying for nothing in his hands.”
He left the church.
Nilus and his companions had yet to arrive in vampire territory when they saw an old man flying in their direction with blood red translucent wings.
“A true Vampire.” Fangs said.
“Can vampires even look old?” Graxx asked with an uneven frown.
“Are there no vampires in your alternate world?” Cale asked the cat.
“Of course not. They are useless and have no aura or soul. The true vampire level is their last stage.” Graxx said.
It was Storm who flew over with a smile on his face.
True death seemed to be a sort of bliss to him.
He landed on the ground and said to the party of four who were already prepared for a fight: “I come in peace. Please, friends, I would like to have a little chat with you.”
The eternal smile of the old man compelled them the four killers to be at a loss for a moment.
They landed not far from Storm and waited.
“My name is Storm Macnius. I come to ask for forgiveness on behalf of the vampires and the shapeshifters. I am confident that my gifts will be more than enough to move you. ”
“The vampires keep using humans as livestock. Unless you plan on starving forever…hehe, I am afraid that there is no deal. ” Nilus was finding the situation a little funny.
Storm said: “The vampires will pledge allegiance to you and will listen to your orders. They will abandon their titles and relinquish kingship to you as well as their entire wealth.”
“Oh…so if I ask them to die for me will they do it?” Nilus asked.
Storm did not hesitate and said: “Yes, but you will be losing out on a future powerful army.”
Nilus who was inwardly laughing asked: “ An army?”
Storm knew he was being laughed at but knew that his next words will interest the young man he suspected to be the soul eater: “ My Spirit Blood bloodline is the only Vampire bloodline that can surpass the true Vampire realm. As of now, all the vampires are being turned into this very bloodline. I will offer my own bloodline that I nurtured for epochs. You will be even closer to the vampire spirit realm.”
All four of them were dumbstruck as they heard the old vampire’s words. It was soon replaced by a skeptic expression.
“Ever hear of the vampire spirit realm?” Asked Nilus as he turned to Fangs.
“Nope. Never heard of it. Must be a legend of some sort.”
“If that was possible, there would still be vampires on the other side.” Graxx said.
Cale said: “Maybe he’s not lying. He’s even sacrificing himself to save all the vampires. No one is that crazy. Besides, an army of vampires and shapeshifters under us is the best alternative if you reflect on the situation. We cannot possibly kill them all. Why not control them?”
“How can we trust your words?” Nilus asked.
“I am offering my life and my true vampire bloodline. It should be enough. If they refuse to surrender to you. Just kill them all. I’ve done all I could.” Storm said.
Storm then looked at his right palm as a ball of blood grew and retracted on itself. The process repeated itself for a while as he appeared paler by the second.
As the blood crystallized into a fist sized shining ball, he weakly said: “This is my life’s work. A true vampire core of the blood spirit bloodline. All you need is a few thousand soul crystals to become a vampire spirit. I could never get soul crystals to reach such a level, but I trust that you can accomplish get those easily. You need the purest energy. As for what happens from now on, I have no idea.”
He pushed the blood crystal towards Nilus.
His last words were:” Good luck on your new path of power, soul eater.”
He died in his cross-legged position.
