《The World Inside a Dream》Chapter 27

I wonder what this class has in store for me? Lucius wondered.
"Listen up cupcakes!" The teacher yelled. He was really stocky and had a massive sword strapped to his back that was bigger than the one that Tres. "Your schedules are being handed out, so wait patiently and don't make a ruckus on the first day!" He clapped his hands and a stack of paper suddenly floated of his desk and started whisking around the room, dropping a paper or two on the desks as it went by. When it passed by Lucius, it dropped one too.
He picked it up and scanned it.
Hmmm... seven periods, just like normal school, he noticed.
P1: Combat
P2: History
P3: Magic
P4: Crafts
P5: Free Period
P6: Monster Taming
P7: Potions
Ooh, I like the sound of monster taming, but magic? Lucius shook his head. Hopefully, I can actually do something in that class.
"What's on your schedule?" Tres asked.
"Eh. It's just the basics. Nothing real special," Lucius said.
The first period went by quick. It was just basics and introductions, so Lucius didn't pay much attention. As for history, well, no one really paid any attention. Even the teacher seemed bored- his expression said, "I'm being paid to do this so..."
Time for magic class, Lucius grimly thought and headed to the classroom alongside Setsu.
The room was dimly lit by a few torches that burned green, which gave the classroom an eerie yet cool feel to it. Lucius chose a random spot and sat in it. The instant he did, a red fire burned into the table and etched out his name.
I guess that means that this is my table now, Lucius thought. After most of the class settled in, a loud voice echoed in the room.
"Welcome to magic, students," said the voice. The first years looked around, confused or scared, while the second years and up just snickered.
There was a loud boom! in the center of the room which erupted in a white fire. A figure stepped out.
It was someone dressed like a witch. Her staff had a red crystal on top and she radiated a powerful feel around her.
"I would do introductions, but that will have to wait. Since there are a lot of you, I will need to get through this as fast as possible. Plus, what I am doing will cover introductions anyway," she said. She walked over to a clear crystal ball.
"You put your hand on this and it will change color based on your magic affinity. For the first years, magic affinity is your ability to use stronger magic. The darker the crystal ball gets, the stronger it is. I will demonstrate." The witch rested her hand on the ball and it began to change color. It started off a bright yellow, then graduate became purple. It continued to darken until it was nearly black.

Some of the students clapped in awe. That's cool, Lucius admitted.
"You will touch this one at a time based on your last name," the witch said. "No pushing or shoving."
The students talked and figured out their order and made a neat line, and one by one, they started to touch the orb. Some people couldn't make it past the shades of red. The talented people would get in the range of a bluish-red, but no one made it even close to the witches' level.
Not long after, it was Lucius' turn. He didn't think much of it as he rested his hand on the ball. He waited.
Wait. It started changing colors immediately for everyone else, so... Lucius thought, a little confused. He looked at the teacher for help, but she looked as equally confused as he felt.
"Let me try," she said over the murmurs of his classmates. The witch rested her hand on the ball and it changed into a black. "Try again," she nodded to Lucius.
He attempted again. The same result. He took his hand off and rested it on again. No reaction.
He realized what was going on about the same time as the other students. They started laughing and insulting him.
Lucius had no affinity for magic. He couldn't even cast the weakest of magic.
"T-this has never happened before, but I'm sure that..."
Lucius didn't bother to listen to the rest of what she said. He walked back over to his seat and thought about it.
Balos knew, huh? Since I'm not originally from this world, I can't control magic. *Sigh*, that sucks, Lucius thought. And here I was thinking that I could, like, have superpowers or something.
A jarring laugh jolted him out of thought. It was from the girl that questioned his credibility when he took down the Rank B best, Fylus, and her friends.
"Hahahaha! And he said that he could beat a Rank B monster all by himself! Hahaha!" Fylus howled with laughter. Then, realizing that Lucius was looking at them, she said, "Don't make me laugh so much. Without magic, there is no way that you could do something so, impossible," she sneered.
Lucius sighed. Nothing gets through her thick head, does it? Oh well, it shouldn't concern me too much.
Talk of Lucius spread throughout the school. Apparently, no one in history had a nonexistent magic power like what Lucius had.
I wonder if the potion that Balos told me about would work? Lucius thought as he headed to the Crafts class. Well, blood is blood, so I bet it will work.

Again, like his other classes, there was no seating arrangement. Instead of loitering in the hallways like most people, Lucius headed straight into his classes, he had a wide variety of seats to choose from.
About five minutes before class started, a pretty big group of people came in. Lucius knew that they were going to give everyone trouble. They snarled at the teacher and some students and were very, very disruptive.
They obviously wanted to sit next to each other in one big group, but there weren't enough consecutive seats to do so. So, they resorted to booting people out of their seats. One of which approached Lucius.
"Hey kid, get out of my seat," he huffed. He was big, but Lucius faced bigger opponents.
"Nah," Lucius said and turned away. He didn't feel like moving as he already got really comfortable in his seat.
"I heard all about you kid," he continued. "You have no magic power, so don't even bother trying to act cool. It's not like you can actually fight or anything."
At that, Lucius noticed that the people around him looked at Lucius and the other person nervously and some started shaking. He didn't know why, but:
"I really don't care. Go find someone else's seat before I have to kick--"
The goon's head snapped back and he levitated in the air. Behind him was another student that had his hand in the air.
Whoa, it's like using the Force from Star Wars or something, Lucius watched as the student moved his hand and deposited the goon into another seat.
"You good?" He asked Lucius.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Lucius replied. The people around Lucius stopped shivering but they looked at Lucius a little strange.
"Did his Aura not affect you?" The student asked. He had blond hair and looked rich.
"Aura?" Lucius asked in confusion. "What's that?"
"What do you mean, 'what's that'? Do you not know what Aura is?" The blond hair guy said.
"Nope."
"I'm not even sure how that's possible, but..."
He explained what Auras were.
Huh, so it's basically the killing intents that are in all of those light novels and manga's, but I can't feel them myself. That's pretty neat, which means that I won't get intimidated by other people, Lucius thought.
"That reminds me," the blond hair guy said. "I can't feel yours."
"Really?" Lucius asked.
"I've only heard about a few people that could actually suppress their Aura, and those people were legends in history."
"Can you feel everyone's Aura at any given time?" Lucius asked. He nodded.
"Yeah. But it's not strong enough to cause any distractions," the blond-haired guy said. "By the way, I'm Cohren. You?"
"I'm Lucius."
"You don't look like you're from around here," Cohren said. "Where are you from?"
"Well, uhm..."
The bell rang, saving Lucius.
"Well, it seems like class started," Cohren said. He looked a little disappointed, but he went to a vacant seat and sat down.
Once the Crafts class ended, Lucius had a free period. He decided to use it looking around the school.
It was pretty big compared to the school that Lucius went to in the real world. There were directories around, so it was hard for Lucius to get lost.
There were over a hundred classrooms, so Lucius figured that there were a lot of people. In fact, a number of people that had a free period along with Lucius made up about the same amount of people in his grade.
Eventually, Lucius ended up at the library. It was pretty big, but not something that crazy. He wanted to do some research about several things, but mainly the Item Boxes. He figured that it would be really nice to have a storage around him at all times.
It didn't take him long to find a book talking about them. He read about them, then checked the time.
Hm... I have about half an hour left, Lucius thought. I can make it there and back.
Lucius dug through his bag and found his pouch of Transportation Gems that Balos gave him. He threw it at feet and was engulfed in a blue smoke.
Once it cleared, he was standing back in Baylight.
Man, that's convenient, Lucius thought as he walked as quietly as he could to the house. He entered.
