《The World Inside a Dream》Chapter 14

Lucius's days were once again filled to the brim. His excitement was like a candle frozen in time, never wavering or going out.

But even though his determination was true, there were still a bunch of priorities. Mainly, Balos and Luna lead them because they realized that Lucius was resolved. They didn't get in his way, leaving him to his research and engineering.

Lucius's mind was stretched and tested to its limits as he researched and experimented with many different types of materials. So many in fact, that eventually, he had to go out and expand the storage room, organize it, and label them with the ink.

Balos and Luna had more ideas for the town and constructed a bunch of public facilities, like shops, a blacksmith, a hospital, and even a school for the children. The currency they used was standard-- everyone in the world used this currency, which was called Orbs.

The brighter shade of the orb, the higher it was worth. Black orbs were worth the less, while white orbs were worth the most.

The only problem with using the standard currency was that Baylight had a very limited amount. Balos and the wolf-people had some, ranging to about 1.5 thousand orbs.

Because of this, the villagers refused to take any form of payment and reserved the money for trading in the future. They resorted to trading for shops and such. When he heard about this, Lucius was extremely grateful for this and swore himself that he would dedicate to making this village good.

"I finished it! I finished it!" Lucius shouted and ran to where Balos and Luna were. They were fishing and they were startled at the sudden loud intruder.

Lucius really wanted to yell Eureka! over and over again, but he was nowhere near Archimedes in terms of intellect and he wasn't greek.

"What did you do?" Luna said and set down her makeshift fishing rod down. At their side was a massive pile of blue fish.

Lucius had to fully extend his arm to pull the weapon from his back. It didn't seem like much to Balos and Luna, so they were obviously confused.

"You spent a week locked up in your room making a long metal tube?" Balos asked quizzically, raising his eyebrow.

A metal tube? Do they not know about...

"Do you know what a gun is?" Lucius asked, grinning from ear to ear. But to his dismay, they simultaneously shook their heads.

"What about a bow? A bow and arrow?" Lucius asked. This time, they nodded.

"Well, I have created a much, much better version of it," Lucius said. "In my world, this is called a gun. This model is called a sniper, a long distance weapon," Lucius said proudly.

"Why can't you just use a bow and arrow?" Balos asked, still unconvinced.

"Watch this," Lucius said and fitted something to the top of the sniper with a metal container. It was a modified magazine.

Lucius looked at the lake and scanned for a large fish that he could hit. He saw something move and immediately took aim over the top of the long weapon. He had no way to build a scope yet.

Then, he pressed the trigger and he could feel the crystal inside instantly spin super fast, and within a split second, there was an ear-splitting explosion as a bullet roared out of the chamber and dove into the lake. Following the bullet was a massive gale that ripped apart the water, sending it flying everywhere.

There was a loud screech that broke through the water, and then it was silent. The fish floated up to the surface.

Balos and Luna were both stunned. They had never seen something so powerful as this.

Lucius hefted the gun over his shoulder and grinned.

"Cool, eh?"

The past few days, Lucius experimented with lots of metals and crystals until he created what he wanted. When he pulled the trigger, it would spin the Mana Crystal inside, which was infused with a Thunder Crystal, really fast. It discharged a full blast. Right next to it was an AE Crystal, absorbing all of the lightning that was flowing out of the crystal and sent it blasting into something else.

It was a special powder called a Rebound Powder. It acted and looked like gunpowder, but when it gets ignited, it doesn't disappear. It gets just a little bit weaker each time though, but it takes over one hundred ignitions to noticeable weaken it.

For the magazine, Lucius stuffed crystals in it. When the Rebound Powder ignited, the crystal was propelled out of the barrel of the gun at over 2000 mph (or 3218.688 kph). The crystal shattered as it flew, turning the bullet into a weapon of mass destruction. Since Lucius had no way to let the bullets flow into the gun, he let the power of gravity to push the crystals into the chamber.

Since most crystals were relatively the same size, he made several other magazines that included other crystals, including the Fire Crystal, Thunder Crystal, and an Acceleration Crystal, a crystal that would release a blast of pure energy (not electricity) that would travel very fast.

"With that weapon, you could destroy a kingdom, no problem," Luna said, still in awe. "Is that a weapon of your world?"

Lucius slightly nodded. "Not exactly, but sure. Only permitted people can use them, though."

After a slight pause, Lucius said, "Well, I'm going down to the town to look around the town. See ya!" Lucius waved and walked away.

The scouts burst through the door of Voxis Kingdom and sprinted down the hallway. They were battered, bruised, and cut, but there was nothing life threatening. This was caused from the mission they had to investigate the town.

The scout that Balos took hostage was quickly returned after he told the intention of Voxis Kingdom.

They ran to the Third General, who was busy ripping apart target dummies with his massive sword. With every swing of his blade came the sound of a tree being ripped in two.

"Did everything go as planned?" he rumbled as he broke apart the dummy with his fist.

"Uh..." the scouts looked at each other. None of them wanted to speak, but one of the braver ones stepped up. "No sir."

Third General sat down. "I expected that much. Tell me what happened."

The scouts told their stories one by one. They said that they were ambushed by the people that defended the wolf-tribe and were almost instantly annihilated. They could tell, one of the scouts said, that they were careful not to break bones or do a life-threatening blow.

"They didn't kill anyone?" The Third General asked. They all shook their head.

"Interesting...." The Third General rubbed his chin. "If we intend to overrun them, I will use that against them."

"Sir, they did kill almost forty people when the soldiers got intercepted," the scouts pointed out.

The Third General went silent for a little bit, then he said, "So there was a town there?"

"Yes, sir."

"How come we haven't seen it?"

"We don't know, sir. The only possibility is that it was created recently."

The Third General became quiet again, then he ordered, "Send me Fourth General. I will hand this operation over to him."

The scouts rushed off. Soon, Second General came in. He had shining white armor and a staff that gleamed with power. Unlike The Warden and Third General, he was remarkably smaller.

"You called for me?" The Fourth General asked.

"I am handing the operations to you," Third General said and rose up. "You will find a way to gain control of the town, resorting to any measures. I am giving you six months to do so. If you don't finish by then, I will take it by force and make sure you get demoted."

"You do not order me around!" Fourth General yelled.

"But I do," Third General said in a quiet voice. "You forget that I can break you in one cleave of my sword, and The Warden would not care if I did."

At that moment, there was the sound of an earsplitting crack! that came from The Fourth Generals staff. A massive bolt of magic flew at the Third General and it seemed like it was going to rip him apart. But he just stood there, and at the last moment, he cleaved his sword up and split the bolt in two. It flew past him and dissipated.

Third General maliciously laughed and lunged toward Fourth General, but at that moment, First General dropped out of the sky and landed between them, glaring at Third General with his weapon out. It was a double-edged war-axe that was made out of refined gold.

They did not speak, but soon, Third General left the room.
