Andrew fired his rifle, the bullet swerved past the tall guy and hit one of the hunters in the chest, the hunter fell to the ground. Andrew reloaded and fired again which killed another.
The guy punched one of the hunters, which caused them to spin around like a fidget spinner; they then collided into a car. The demi was cowering in an alleyway now, it was obvious that she was scared.
Stalker slid behind a car, vines were wrapped around the windshield, some entered through the broken glass. The hunters tried their best to defend themselves from both attacks.
Stalker flicked the safety off and turned around, aiming his gun. He shot the rest of the hunters. The tall guy looked at Stalker and Andrew. "Oh hello!" He smiled, he was oddly friendly for a guy who just kicked the living shit out of a hunter and crushed a guy's head.
"My name is Ash! That's my friend Evelyn!" Ash smiled, he hinted at the demi who soon went out. "How old is she?" Stalker went out in the open. "She's 16, she hasn't unlocked her abilities yet either." Ash sighed.
"Hi…" Evelyn had a nervous tone, she went behind Ash and peeked over at Stalker and Andrew. "Don't worry Evelyn, they helped us with the bad guys." Ash looked at Evelyn and patted her head. Ash was strong and abnormally tall. "Do you have injured people with you?" Ash asked.
Stalker looked at Andrew. "Uhhh… no we don't." Stalker looked back at Ash and Evelyn. "You're welcome to join our group though!" Stalker gave a friendly smile. Ash looked at Evelyn and raised his eyebrows. "Do you want to join their group? They seem like nice people!" Ash smiled.
Evelyn looked up at Ash, her dog ears raised a bit and she walked out in front of Ash. "We want to join your group." Evelyn smiled a bit. Ash looked at Evelyn, then he steered his attention to the two. "We would love to join you." Ash smiled.

Aria looked at Emmy, they were following the path Stalker and Andrew usually take. "When was the last time you saw a horde?" Aria asked Emmy, Aria had red hair and blue eyes, she was wearing a jacket and ripped jeans. Emmy's white hair blew through the wind, she looked at Aria; her purple eyes shining due to the shade. "2 years ago." Emmy spoke, she was wearing a fleece and sweatpants.
"The last time I saw a horde was 1 and a half years ago with my ex Casper." Aria mumbled. "Didn't he…?" Emmy tilted her head. "Yeah… yeah…" Aria sighed.
"I'm sorry." Emmy sighed. "My husband didn't make it either." She looked at Aria. "He got bit a few months in while I was pregnant with Ted." She sighed. "Ted's a demi but you aren't, right?" Aria tilted her head.
"Yeah. That's right, but that doesn't mean I don't love him any less." Emmy heard gunshots. "That must be them." She looked at Aria and she nodded. "Lead the way."
Aria ran down the rocky street, what I mean by rocky is that there is debris from skyscrapers or buildings all over the place. While some people call it The Ruins, people call it home… or what it used to be.
Emmy followed Aria, she had her gun out. She was preparing for the worst as they turned the corner and saw Stalker and Andrew talking to two people they have never seen before.
Ash stared at the other two. "Are they with you?" He pointed over at Emmy and Aria; Stalker and Andrew turned around. "Ehhh? What are you two doing here?" Andrew looked at them. "Well, we went looking for you because you guys didn't return after the deadline you guys set."
Andrew tilted his head. "What time is it?" Emmy looked up into the sky. "I'd say… 6PM?" She looked at them. "Are they friends or foes?"

Stalker looked at Emmy. "Oh them? They're friends, they will be joining our group!" Stalker spoke proudly. Emmy looked at Evelyn. "Hello, what's your name?" Emmy gave a friendly smile. "Evelyn…" she avoided contact from the two.
"That's a pretty name, say…" she looked at Stalker and Andrew. "We should head back before it gets dark." Stalker nodded in agreement. "Let's get going."
Dani walked back and forth, she was worried about the others. I looked over at Dani. "Are you doing okay?" Dani looked at me. "What do you think the answer is…" Dani sighed and sat down, I could tell she was anxious because they hadn't arrived yet and the sun was going down.
"Just checking up on you…" I mumbled, looking at the group; they were also worried. "When will papa return?" Alice looked over at me. "I don't know." I looked over at Alice. Due to it being fall, Ted and Alice were snuggled into the same blanket.
Jug blew warm air onto his hands and looked at me. "I don't think we can do this if it gets any colder. We need to find shelter very soon…" he shivered.
"You're right. We will discuss it once they return." I spoke and hugged Dani so that she would be warm as well. "Oi Jug, join in!" Dani broadly spoke. Jug chuckled and joined in on the hug.
"You seem off Dani, what's up?" Jug moved his head over to Dani. "My sister is still hunting for animals and it's been awhile since she returned, around 10 hours…" she sighed.
"She'll be back. This isn't the first time she spent an extensive amount of time hunting." Jug tried to help Dani calm down, he knew I couldn't do it either because I was dealing with my own problems. My sister was sick with the flu, so I went on a supply run to get medicine for her… just to see the building in flames. I tried finding her remains but I couldn't.
Dak watched everyone. "Y'all should get a good night rest. I will keep watch." He kept his bow to his side. I looked at Dak. "I'll keep watch as well." I spoke up. "Cody… you haven't slept in god knows how long. At least I haven't seen you sleep in a long ass time." Dani sighed.
"I'll be fine. Let's keep watch… Dak." I smiled a bit, Dak nodded. "Okay kiddo, we will take turns so we can all have some sleep." Dak looked around. Cody stood up and went over to Dak, sitting next to him. "You should sleep first, I'll wake you up when it's your turn."
I nodded and rested my head on a log, though it was uncomfortable as shit when it came to sleeping in the forest; we had to do something about it. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Limping was heard, a girl winced. She was injured, but where? Blood seeped through her bullet wound. Her pink hair was matted and dirty, mixed with blood and dirt. She panted, she was just attacked by her childhood friend… or what used to be him. After refusing to join him after what he had done at the beginning, a few zeds were following her due to the gunshots. It's the most she has seen in awhile.
She wondered if the zeds were slowly dying off, maybe humanity is slowly winning this? So many thoughts were running through her mind, the first thing she remembered was talking to her group; just for them to get shot up by him…
They're all gone and she is what's left of them. However, when she saw smoke in the forest, she began to limp faster with the zeds following closely.

Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
