《The subtle World of Terraria》1-5. Surviving and Aims

*Evan POV*

Under the moonlit twilight, I swung my fiery Wooden Sword straight down and divided the last zombie in two equal parts. I quickly looked around so I don’t get back stabbed again but there’s no other zombie in sight.

Suddenly, my red tinted vision became clear again as I noticed that my Berserk mode had stopped working.

Huh? Why did it suddenly stopped working? As I thought that, the details of my Berserker skill came in front of me.

Berserk: You are on your last heart. Use berserk to even the odds.

Duration: only for 1 battle

Cooldown: 24 hours

Duration is for one battle, right? That either means the zombies have stopped their assault for now or there’s no other zombie or hostiles nearby. Which in return, would giving me enough time to finish my damn house.

I quickly equipped the wood blocks in my hand, turned around to finish the house, but just then I noticed something. I saw the sun slowly coming up from the horizon.

Duration: only for 1 battle

Ah. Now it makes sense. I fought for the entire night.

My weapons went back into my inventory as my knees fell down on the ground.

“Fina-Flippen-Ly!” I screamed out to myself before I fell back and laid down.

Oh my god! I really thought I was going to die last night.

{Author Note: …}

My Pain Immunity didn’t really make me feel any kind of exhaustion but regardless, I wanted to lie down on the dirty grass for the time being and enjoy the slow golden sunrise.

This night officially tops as the worst night I’ve ever experienced, And I’ve had really bad nights.

Half of the sky was still a little dark as I saw stars twinkling but I really enjoyed as the orange sun rays slowly covered the sky.

After enjoying the sunrise for a minute or two, I stood up as my eyes searched around the battlefield for any loot I might have missed. I might seem greedy but I’m a gamer at heart, I will not let any loot left untouched. As long as its not a little kid. Professionals have standards.

I saw a certain something on the ground which immediately made my blood boil.

I stared at it. Maybe I’m just seeing things. Maybe it’s just nothing.

I went towards it, and It was exactly what I thought it was.

The zombie arm that I desperately needed last night.

At this point I couldn’t help but scream loudly.

“DAMN IT ALLLLL!!!! LIFE IS PLAYING GAMES WITH ME AGAIN!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!”

As I screamed my heart out, I actually felt pretty good. Guess I had to get it out of my system.

I walked up to the zombie arm and any other loot that was nearby, so that my inventory would automatically collect it. There were mostly just some silver coins lying around aside from some arrows that I had used.

Oh, I almost forgot to examine the Zombie Arm that I just got.

Strong Zombie Arm:

Damage: 12

Knockback: Average

Critical chance:4%

Use time: fast

Strong: +15% Knockback

It feels just as gross as it looks, but it's surprisingly very stiff like holding a metal rod.

I swung it around to make myself comfortable with it. The claws of the arm were the only way to deal damage to anyone or anything. Aside from that, the arm itself was around… well, an arm’s length long.

This feels very tiny compared to my gigantic Wooden Sword, but this thing deals twice as much damage than my sword so I’ll use whatever I can.

I feel mentally and physically tired from fighting for an entire night. Or that’s what I should say but I don't feel anything and there’s only one reason for that. Pain-Immunity Skill.

I’m already starting to love the Pain Immunity skill. No, I should respect it more. From now on I’m calling it Pain Immunity Senpai! Now, before anything else happens I'm going to firstly finish building my crib.

*5 Few Minutes*

“Finally.” I said to myself as I looked at the small wooden house I finished building.

I had already built half the house during the night, and since I was attacked, I made the house shorter than what I had in mind and in a box shape so I could complete it even faster. Which is why when I look at it, it looks like a very big wooden box with a wooden door that anyone can live in.

I went inside my small wooden house and closed the wooden door behind me. I did say before that I didn’t want live inside just a really large box, but I don’t have the motivation to build something crazy right now. This square house will do me just nice for a couple of days.

The house was just 4 small walls made of wood, with a door inserted at one end. I did change the dirt floor into a wooden floor but that’s as good as I can go with the limited resources I have.

I want to put a bed in here but I need silk to make that and to get silk I need cobwebs, which I also don’t have. Other than that, I moved the workbench, chest, anvil, and furnace inside. I had some leftover glass so I made some glass right now and used those as windows for the house.

As a habit from the game I also created a wooden table and a wooden chair. Well, the table and chair are obviously for eating food and what-not. But, the main reason for putting a chair and table in a house is because this will transform the room into an NPC house so they can move in.

But still, I though to myself as I stared at the table and chair in the cramped room. I wonder if I should be eating food, since there’s no hunger mechanic in the game.

As I pondered to myself, another list came in front of me.

Hunger: 58%

Thirst: 69%

I should’ve expected this, but I didn’t.

Well, I didn’t expect this because I can't feel hungry, probably due to pain immunity senpai, which I don’t know is a blessing or a curse. Now that everything was over, I sat down on the chair I just made and started to contemplate with a relaxed mind.

And the first question that popped in my mind was that why didn’t the Berserk skill came into my skill list when I was examining it?

Like before, As I thought that...

Identity: -

Name: Reid Sord (Evan Langford)

Age: 18 (20)

Race: Silver-daemon

Race skill: Berserk

Occupation: Hero of Skill

Okay, that created more questions than answers.

I sighed in annoyance.

Alright, Let's do this one step at a time. With time in my hand where nothing was trying to kill me, I was in a good mood. So to start things off. Why is my name written beside Reid Sord and in Brackets?

I waited for a moment but the system didn't give me any kind of response.

Okay... What about my age. Am I 20 years old or 18?

I waited again, but just like before, it didn't give any kind of response. Also, like before, my real age was in brackets.

Alright... Maybe the system will tell me what a Silver-daemon is?

Silver-daemon: A branch of demi-humans. Commonly known as Silver daemons. They look very similar to humans but they have white and silver/white coloured hair along with magical, light-blue coloured eyes. They are known for their kindness to others and their ability to protect their own kind.

Oh, it responded.

So that's why I have sparkly blue eyes? I thought to myself as I quickly figured something out.

Wait, that means I'm not Human, am I?

... No response again.

I should be worried about losing my humanity but so much has happened in the 24 hours I’ve been here that I don't really care about that.

I’m adapting to these things way too fast.

Moving on, I already know what the Berserk skill is but... ‘Hero of Skill’?

Hero of skill: One of the four legendary Heroes. Among the other heroes, the Hero of skill has the fastest learning ability and can learn new things or skills almost instantly. And lastly, though not confirmed, he is the one known for having an unbreakable will-power.

Huh?

‘Fastest learning ability’? Is that why I learned skills immediately after I just performed them once? And what do you mean by ‘Unbreakable will-power’? Are you talking about the Pain-Immunity skill?

… No response.

Who are the other heroes then?

... No response again.

Damn it. Those were all the questions I had from the status list. What now?

Hmmm, I started thinking to myself again as I relaxed on the chair.

Let’s sort out my inventory and equipment first. No matter what I do from here on out. I’m going to need good equipment no matter what happens.

Terraria’s progression is based on gear, better gear means better survivability too, so I opened my inventory and started taking a look.

The first thing I noticed was that I had some lenses in my inventory, those are dropped by the demon eyes and there's only two things you can do with them. Make a legit ‘eye ball’ on a demon altar or make goggles. The eye ball made on the demon altar is called ‘Suspicious Looking Eye’ which summons the Eye of Cthulhu boss, the first and the weakest boss in the game. On the other hand, the Googles is just head armor.

The answer was quite obvious on what I was going to make since I only had two lenses in my inventory. I kept my inventory open as I walked to the workbench next to the wall and crafted a set of googles from the lenses.

Goggles:

Head Armor: 1 defense

The goggles look just like glasses with a black frame and wide transparent lenses. With the googles in my inventory, quickly equipped it as well as the guarding shackle I got from the night-long battle.

Shackle (Accessory): +1 defense

Guarding: +2 defense

The googles spawned on my face as I nudged it further above my nose with my middle finger. A pair of shackles also spawned on top my wrists with chains dangling down. I didn’t really like that so I set that accessory slot to invisible mode and they disappeared from my hands yet I still received their stats

Now, there are 3 Armor slots along with 3 social Armor slots.

Helmet

Chest piece

Pants

The social armor slots come above the main armor slots. wearing any armor on social armor slots won't give any benefits but will appear on top of my main armor. In other words, the social slots are purely for the drip.

As an example, if I wear an iron helmet and place the goggles in the social armor slot, then the only visible thing on my head would be the goggles and not the Iron helmet while I will get all the benefits of the Iron helmet.

Also, there are 5 accessory slots with 5 social accessory slots. The social accessory slots are the same as social armor slots. But the accessories have another function, you can set them on visible or invisible mode, this function only works on the main accessory slots and not the social ones.

Now then... What else? What am I forgetting?

... Oh, Yea!

I got tons of new skills during last night, most of them was during the berserk mode.

Now that I think about it. Fighting the zombies head on for the entire night with beginner gear was the most reckless thing I’ve ever done. I also burnt through my potions, so I'll have to make more now. But, funny thing though, I never needed to make lesser health potions in the game. I usually just find them in pots or chest.

But I’ll need to be more careful here and use every single thing at my disposal. I’ve only got one life and it’s my real life. There’s no continues, it will be the end if I die.

Now then, show me all the skills description!

{Author note: Excluded some unimportant skills}

Well isn’t this a treat. I should've read them before I had an all-out war against the rising dead. Oh well, the last thing to do now is…

I crossed my fingers.

Map!

A giant 3D form of a map opened up in front of me.

Ohh, This is amazing.

The map showed off lots of places and even those I had never been to before. It's blacked out near the edges, which means that I haven’t explored those parts, but there were 2 things that stood out in the map.

One looked like the ruins of a kingdom. By that I mean there was a large castle but it looked deserted and completely beaten down.

And the other thing was of a… not-ruined kingdom. This kingdom looked flourishing as if there’s people living over there right now, haha…

There’s no flippen way there are people there.

In Terraria there’s only the player, the NPC’s and the enemies. There’s no one else. So why would there be people here? I must check that place out ASAP. Even if there aren’t any people living there, I can still take that kingdom for myself and use it as my HQ.

Maybe I'll find some answers to why I'm here over there as well!

Okay, that's my main mission now. I better start preparing for the journey now since I don’t really have anything better to do.
