《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 180: Attending Class

Anastasia Willow Mathers, shortened to Anne, the student council president of Aubrey Academy. Just her name alone was enough to strike fear into the hearts of many. Not only was she able to become student council president, she did so without the help of her family.
Mathers was a bloodline related to royalty to the current king though albeit distant. Nevertheless, it is still one of the most influential houses currently existing.
Not only a cunning mind, her talent in magic was also superb. She reached eighteen a few months prior and reached S-class a year before that. Still, Kai took her title of being the youngest S-class.
Though technically, Erina was now the youngest S-class. After all, she was more than half a year younger than Kai but according to everyone else's knowledge, Erina was still A-class.
Make no mistake, Anne was born earlier than them and that meant that even though Kai and Erina had reached S-class at a younger age, she has still stayed in S-class longer.
Thinking about all this, Kai felt his head hurt.
"A talent on par with Wake when it comes to magic and I have to seduce her..."
There was no other way to get to the higher-ups of the academy other than through Anne if he won't reveal his identity. William was out of the question because he was the reason for this whole mess. Anne was what people would call a woman made of steel.
Nothing went through her heart. She adhered to 'noblesse oblige' but that was the extent of her care for others. Even if her very life was threatened, she would still stay calm no matter the situation. If her friends get kidnapped, she would do what she could but the moment she fails, she'd abandon them with no hesitation.
But that woman of steel had one weakness.
She's weak when it comes to romance.
It was a fact that in the future when Aubrey Academy fell, Anne's hobby of reading love stories during her free time was revealed. Of course, none dared to actually tell her in the face but Kai knew it all. She was weak to cliches from all the stories she read. She longed for a fateful encounter with a man who she had never met before.
"..."
Although Kai didn't really want to trample on a maiden's feelings, this was an exception.
He and Anne didn't really get along in the future. No, that was giving an understatement, they were practically mortal enemies. Kai saved as much people as he could to the point that he even tried to sacrifice his own life several times while Anne saved as much as she could before things got dangerous.
"I guess it's a good way for payback."
They've had several fights already, those fights were enough to destroy several mountains. Of course, the human race was on the brink of extinction so just one or two mountains destroyed wasn't enough to cause a stir. Though that was it, he hated her but not to the extent that he wants her to die.
Kai walked through the halls of the academy, he wore the uniform with an insignia etched on the left side. It was a dark blue blazer with a white inner shirt and tie. Although it looked like a regular uniform, it was made of the finest cloth and silk.

The cost of a single set of the uniform would is one gold. If the expenses of the tuition, books, and other necessities such as dorms, the total cost for a single student would go over fifteen gold. An amount few commoners would ever get in their lives, that was why the students are mostly nobles.
He quickly found his classroom, with Soul Call, he was able to tell that there were at least twenty people in the class. Of course, that was a given, after all, this class he enrolled in is rare.
"Ah, there's our new student."
After knocking on the door a few times, the professor walked to the door, it was a middle-aged woman. Looking around the room once, Kai could see that majority of the class was female and about four were male. It was understandable, healing magic was stronger when used by girls after all.
"Welcome to Rejuvenation Class 101. Please introduce yourself to the class."
The professor handed the black stick in her hands to Kai. It looked like a magician's wand.
"Pour your magic power and write on the board."
Doing as the instructor said, Kai poured a tiny bit of his magic power which made the tip of the wand glow brighter. Then, he wrote his name on the board and turned to face the class.
"My name is Satou Kenji, Satou is my last name while Kenji is my given name, I'm a temporary transfer student."
With a slight bow, Kai introduced himself to the rest of the class. Most of the student's reactions were quiet but the look on the faces of the girls said otherwise.
"He's so cute..."
"Satou? What continent is he from?"
Nevertheless, their reactions were a lot more reserved than those in the Royal Magic Academy of Alteria. They were all noblemen and noblewomen raised even more strictly than those in Alteria. Instead of his face, they focused on his family.
In this continent, power was everything. A good bloodline meant that the person had a higher potential. Hearing Kai's unknown surname made them want to figure out where he's from.
"Take the free seat over there."
Kai did as he was told and sat next to a woman with straight white hair. The cool temperament surrounding her made one want to avoid disturbing her but Kai didn't even hesitate to stretch his hand out towards her.
"I'm Satou Kenji, nice to meet you."
The woman raised one of her brows and scrutinized Kai. The whole class immediately turned silent once Kai spoke to the woman and everyone was looking at them intently. Still, Kai kept his eyes on her.
"...My name is Anastasia Willow Mathers, nice to meet you too."
She stretched her hand out to Kai's and the latter took it without hesitation.
Anne looked at Kai with a face of confusion.
I added some pressure but this guy didn't even flinch. Still, I can't feel anything strange about him. Does he have the power to resist my pressure or is he just dense?
Anne kept thinking to herself while Kai sat down on the seat next to her. The class was drenched in cold sweat. They felt the pressure in Anne's words but Kai still shook her hand. After seeing the two end their greetings peacefully, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

The academy had several classes divided by the topic, Rejuvenation, Arcane, Combat, Archery, Alchemy, Runes. The class they were in was a class focused on healing, Rejuvenation. They had few students, only numbering above fifty and split into three classes.
A student was allowed to enroll in all of the classes and attend the lectures at any given time. They just had to make sure they were there for exams and achieved the right amount of credit. Attendance had little effect on grades since most classes happen at the same time.
Anne was enrolled in Rejuvenation 101, Arcane 102, and Runes 103 while she sometimes attended the other classes. Naturally, Kai enrolled in all of them though he also enrolled in Archery 102 to meet with William from time to time. The class time was decided by the number of the class so Rejuvenation 101 was taught in the morning, 102 was taught in the noon and etc.
"Although it's only our transfer student's first day, we planned to have a practical test today."
The professor took a knife and cut her palm.
"As we all know, healing magic is ineffective on ourselves."
She covered her bleeding palm with her other than that glowed green but nothing happened to the wound as the blood continued to flow.
"Miss Anne, may you do the honors?"
The classroom wasn't big, it had the layout of a college classroom but smaller, it was just enough for twenty or so people so Anne quickly arrived to the front of the class.
"[Heal]."
Anne's palm glowed green and the wound healed itself within five seconds.
"Amazing time, you may take your seat."
Anne nodded and sat back down.
"In a few minutes, we'll go to the clinic and provide free healing for two hours to anyone who enters. The academy has already informed the surrounding houses and a crowd has gathered already. Sir Kenji, how confident are you in healing?"
After the professor's words, everyone turned their eyes towards Kai. Even Anne wasn't an exception though she only glanced at him from time to time, waiting for his answer.
"Hahaha... I'm not very confident in my healing speed but I can at least heal longer than most. I can heal a major wound without leaving scars."
After his words, Anne's eyes sharpened. A major wound without leaving scars, that was something only she had achieved in this class.
Of course, almost all of them thought Kai was bragging since healing was just increased regeneration, if the wound was bad, then scars were a given. Anne was an exception to this because of her mastery in healing magic, she was almost at the same level as the professor.
The students began whispering to each other but Kai's expression didn't change in the slightest.
To think he's bragging within the doors of Aubrey Academy... who is this man?
Anne's suspicion went through the roof. She was asked to inspect the new students but that was only if they had ill intentions.
I'll have to inspect this man further.
Making a mental note in her head, she glanced at the professor who was evidently surprised by Kai's sudden declaration.
"Hahaha. Then, I'll have you prove it later."
"Yes."
Kai bowed slightly and sat back down. He then turned his head slightly to the side to see Anne looking at him, he flashed a smile and turned back towards the teacher.
"???"
Question marks were floating around Anne's head at Kai's sudden smile.
Arcane 101
Erina and Sachiko were sitting next to each other with Amelia sitting behind them next to another student. The rest of of the applicants, Kei, Arata, Date, and Yoko were in Combat 101.
Unlike Kai's class with a 1:4 ratio of boys to girls, their class had a 2:1 with boys taking the majority of the forty students.
Right now, the atmosphere in the room was insanely awkward. A few minutes after the introduction, the professor had to leave the room for a few minutes and some of the noblemen took the opportunity to hit on the three newcomers. Of course, this was looked down on by the other girls but it wasn't an uncommon sight.
Erina and Sachiko smoothly diverted their attentions to other topics but Amelia was different.
"Listen here, me and Mio are already married so you all better not get any ideas!"
The entire class was dumbfounded once they heard that. Amelia even revealed more information that their husband was the same man. Sure, it wasn't uncommon to marry once someone reaches fifteen but students mostly delay until graduation, and those who marry the same person after reaching fifteen was even more uncommon- no, they don't even know anyone who has done so.
Sachiko, seeing as how she was the only target for the boys left, announced that she was already engaged with someone in Combat 101 named Iori causing Erina and Amelia to slightly laugh. They purposely withheld Kai's name from being said because he might be troubled but Sachiko just said Iori's name out loud.
When asked by the two, her excuse was:
"He's my brother, so he should help me in times like these, right?"
Which caused them to wryly smile. Aubrey Academy had the same age limit as Royal Magic Academy so Sachiko, Iori, and Amelia weren't even allowed to enroll but Amelia had already stopped aging after she reached eighteen while Sachiko and Iori were allowed to go to class since they were only temporary students.
The boys who had tried to hit on the three were scratching their cheeks awkwardly. It was one thing if they were commoners but they had been taught since young about proper rules among nobility and hitting on married women wasn't one of them.
"...What happened?"
The professor, an old man walked in and felt the atmosphere in the room change.
"..."
After getting no response, the professor coughed lightly and began his lesson.
