Quickly arriving near the fountain and spotting the inn they were pointed to, they registered for three rooms while leaving one empty. Kei, Arata, and Date stayed in one room while Kai, Amelia, and Erina stayed in the other. The last one was for Yoko who was currently still missing.

"Five large coppers for a night, this is just robbery..."

Kei complained.

In this continent, large coins were added so that people wouldn't have to carry large amount of coins with them. Soaring Eagle, the continent they were born in was planning to adopt this in their money as well and some countries were trying to implement it in small areas already but it would still take years for everyone to transition from using a coin to two coins of varying sizes and values.

Since they were from another continent, they didn't have any converted money and so gave fifty copper coins. A large coin comprised of ten of the same coin, so a large gold coin would be five gold coins and would be at fifty thousand copper coins.

"Kei, go ahead and get all of this converted into a bunch of large copper and large silver coins."

Kai threw a bag of coins at Kei who caught it easily.

"They're going to strike at night so you have plenty of time, Arata, you go with him. Date, come with me."

After leaving Erina and Amelia back at the room, he went outside with the other guys and then split into two groups soon thereafter.

"Date, our goal today is to gather information, you go gather information by asking around and I'll got to taverns to listen to any rumors."

"What should I be listening out for?"

Till now, Kai hadn't told them about their goal on this continent but all of them thought it was related to Amelia.

"Anything about strange phenomenon or significant events, the former is more important though. Note everything no matter how ridiculous they may sound, the sooner we find it the better."

"Alright."

They walked to the commercial district of the town before splitting apart, Kai chose the shadiest looking tavern he could find and sat down, he changed his face just before entering the door and removed every part of his aura that was leaking out. Date began asking around while acting lost.

"Give me the strongest drink you have."

Kai sat down at the counter and without looking at the bartender, asked for a drink.

"Are you sure, kid? This here is famed for killing those with weak systems."

"Kill me? It's not like that would do anything else..."

The bartender sighed after looking at Kai's visage before pouring him a shot. As a bartender, how many troubled people has he seen in his life? They all wasted away at their lives drinking in this very bar after all.

"I suggest you don't drink too much, I don't want to carry out a corpse."

Kai simply raised his glass and drank the shot in one gulp before proceeding to crash into the counter.

The bartender sighed but Kai was still breathing so he simply continued wiping the glass.

A few seats away, there were three men with red faces sitting at a round table. To already be drunk in the afternoon, what were they doing? Nevertheless, it wasn't an uncommon sight, the tavern was actually full of drunk people even at a time such as this.

"Hey, did you hear about that village near the Star?"

One of the drunk men said as he slammed his glass onto the table.

"What happened?"

Another of the drunk men asked.

"You haven't heard?!"

Their third companion seemed genuinely shocked even in his drunken state.

"The entire village's children vanished overnight, not a trace of them. The culprits are ghosts, I tell you."

The first man said as he nudged the second man.

"Couldn't it be bandits?"

"No, that's impossible. None of the parents heard their doors and I heard that some even had their own babies wrapped around their arms but they all still disappeared, no footsteps or sound, it's insanely ominous..."

The third man quickly denied the second man's question.

Kai listened intently while still acting drunk but it was at that moment that a hand tapped his shoulder, by the gentle touch and soft texture, it seemed to be a woman. Of course, Kai knew all that even without analyzing the hand that touched him. Kai was still acting drunk so of course, he feigned not to notice the hand that tapped his shoulder.

"Mister, I know you're not sleeping, a sleeping person has a fixed rhythm of breathing but you're breathing normally."

Hmm... So she does have some ability.

Kai turned his head to face her while keeping the red flush on his face.

The woman not only had a curvaceous body, she also had a charming air around her that would cause anyone near her to fall for her immediately but Kai only felt cold inside. On Earth, this woman would even be a match for the best models but Kai didn't feel a thing.

This is... the woman I sensed in the inn.

"Mister, do you want someone to accompany you tonight? A gold for a night."

"Ain't it... a lil thoo early for tha?"

Kai said while slurring on his words.

"Naturally, so I'll accompany you here until the night and once it arrives, we can go ahead and rent a place."

Kai had lust in his eyes as he gazed at the woman's body from top to bottom. Seeing this, the woman leaned in even closer and placed her arm around his shoulders.

"So, what does mister say?"

With this position, her ample bosom was near Kai's face and he could even smell the fragrance of her body.

"Nn."

Kai gave his nod of approval and rested his head on her bosom, if Erina or Amelia were here, he'd be killed without a doubt but he had to continue his act, he just had to take extra care to remove the girl's scent later. Because Kai changed his face, it was obvious that this woman didn't tail him, she was most likely just using him to gain some extra coins by robbing him after they do the deed.

Seeing Kai being seduced by the woman, the bartender sighed once more, it was obvious to him what would happen. He wanted to give Kai a word of warning but that would just be him becoming a busybody. Nevertheless, the bartender still had the heart to inform Kai through a note which Kai ignored.

A few hours passed by as Kai continued to be served by the woman and when the sun finally set, he left the tavern accompanied by the woman and headed straight for the red light district.

On the way there, he kept Soul Call activated and found a familiar aura near him.

...What the hell are they doing here?

There was a woman dressed in commoner's clothes, her beauty wasn't enough to be a match for Erina or Yoko but she was definitely still very beautiful, it was the first princess of the Alteria Kingdom, Alteria Sachiko. Next to her was a man dressed in slightly better clothes, he resembled Kazuki but had a more mature air around him, this was the first prince of the Alteria Kingdom, Alteria Iori.

The most calculating princess and the most honorable prince were wearing disguises while strolling around in another continent, what were they doing?

At first, Kai planned to go with the woman and confront her group there but now, his plans changed.

Date had just arrived back at the inn, Arata and Kei had returned a little more than an hour before him and were sitting in the lobby of the inn. Other than them, there were only a handful more people in the room which was quite strange seeing as how it was already time for dinner.

"I have no idea what the meals here are..."

Kei said as he looked at the menu filled with names of monsters and how they were cooked.

"I think I've heard of this monster before, the 'Eight Beast'."

"Hm? I'll order it then, waiter, one Eight Beast meat stew please!"

"A brave one, eh? Got it!"

Date looked at Kei in disbelief to which the latter responded with a raised brow.

"...Date, what is an Eight Beast? Something that has eight limbs or something?"

Arata asked him but he couldn't reply. It wasn't long until Kei's order arrived on top of a plate, it was quite big and the meat looked especially tender, Kei couldn't help it and began to dig in but in just three bites, he suddenly stopped and began shaking.

"H-hahahaha..."

Date gave a dry laugh.

"The Eight Beast is a giant spider and is famous for its especially juicy meat but the taste is a bit... exotic? That's why when eating it, it's recommended to eat it fried instead of in a stew. In a stew, the poison or rather, the spider's natural taste won't disperse and will stay so almost nobody eats it..."

Kei's mouth began heating up as he burned the spider meat with flames and swallowed.

"The spider has sleeping medicine on it, it seems to be delayed, I've already taken care of it. Place your orders, they're making their move."

Date and Arata's eyes sharpened as they chose random food on the menu and ordered.

Erina and Amelia were still in the room, Amelia was still scared of being left alone so at all times, she either had Kai or Erina and sometimes, both of them. To her, this continent was a place where death was waiting at every corner, although she changed her looks, it still hadn't changed the fact that she was still herself.

"Geez... What is taking Kai so long? Date has already come back..."

Knock knock

"Miss Erina, I've brought some food for you two."

"Thanks."

Arata opened the door and set down their food on the table.

"The food has been laced with sleeping medicine, they're about to make their move. Kei has already removed it from your food but the effects should start to show in an hour so please fake going to sleep by then."

"Got it."

Erina nodded and Arata left the room.

"Amelia, would you mind telling me about why you're so scared? Maybe it will help you feel better if you tell me."

Though part of it was to sate her own curiosity, Erina's words were still sincere.

"...Alright, can you give me some of Kai's clothes first though?"

"?"

Although Erina was bewildered, she still took some out of their luggage and handed it over to Amelia. Amelia stared at it for a second before bringing it up to her nose and sniffing it.

"?!"

Erina's eyes widened. It was one thing to do this in private, but she was actually sniffing his clothes in front of Kai's (other) girlfriend!

"I have to do this otherwise I won't calm down..."

Amelia wryly smiled, Kai was the biggest pillar of support to her.

"Where should I begin...?"

Amelia looked to the roof and began recalling past events.

"I'm the daughter of a count and our blood was pure, there were no relations with other races which meant that our power was at its peak. When I was about five, I realized that even among the purebloods, I was special, my blood was many times more potent and wild than any of my relatives."

Amelia paused for a moment and hugged Kai's clothes.

"This was when I found out that not only politically, blood also holds ranks. My blood wasn't awakened but it actually contained the blood primogenitor which none of my other family members had. Even a drop of primogenitor blood would allow me to ascend to S-class before I reach ten but that wasn't all, all of my blood was converted into primogenitor blood, I was granted the inheritance out of all the vampire races. Now, I've only awakened about five percent but my power is already frightening."

At this point, Amelia began shivering.

"The royal family heard of my blood and took me away from my house at six. For years after that, they did countless experiments on my body, I suffered the cruelest of tortures just to awaken my blood and when I did, I escaped. I was fourteen when I escaped that place but I had to live everyday in fear, I had to hide myself but I knew nobody to rely on and had no magic to defend myself, I ran towards the mansion but knights were already waiting outside. And then... and then...!"

Amelia's voice grew agitated and Erina held her hand.

"You don't need to continue if you can't do it."

"...I'm sorry."

Tears began falling from Amelia's eyes as she quickly went into the bed and covered herself.

"Kai will be back soon, we'll handle the bandits, don't worry."

Without receiving a reply, Erina began eating and then quietly fell into slumber on the desk.
