《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 153: An Uphill Battle (2)

Erina shot out from within the shield and created more spears filled with Green Ki. Contrary to her expectations, the Immortal didn't dodge at all, the Green Ki hit him but it didn't even pass through his skin. His hand shot out and grabbed Erina by the neck.
"Haaa!"
Kai kicked the air and headed straight for the Immortal only to meet the same fate but with an added sword on his neck.
"[Blood Tendrils]!"
Amelia's voice resounded in the Immortal's ears as he let go of Erina and Kai and leapt to the side. Tendrils made out of blood pierced the Immortal's previous location and began chasing him, these were all filled with Green Ki and had power to actually pierce his skin.
"A vampire, let's see if you have the same power as a pureblood."
The Immortal used fire to burn down the tendrils and sent it out towards Amelia. Kai quickly arrived in front of her and used a wall made of water to delay the flames then carried Amelia away.
"Dear, you're injured!"
"It's fine, I can still fight."
Kai stood up and once more began to attack. He had to gain the Immortal's attention no matter what, Amelia was insanely vulnerable to his mental attack while Erina was partly immune. If Kai was alone, perhaps he might have a little bit more leeway but with others here, he had to expend fifty percent of his concentration on them.
Kai's eyes became wrapped around in darkness.
"[Spirit Form: Dark Fists]!"
The Immortal swatted Kai's hands and then sent out a front kick but Kai kicked the air once more and sent out a kick to the back of the Immortal's head.
"When will you ever learn?"
The Immortal grabbed Kai's foot and crushed it with his grip. Kai's face changed because of the pain and he used his other leg but he had to twist the other one to send out this kick.
For the first time, the Immortal actually felt pain from Kai's attack.
"...A metal leg?"
Seeing what gave him pain, the Immortal grabbed Kai once more and sent him flying but this time, Kai was prepared, he safely landed on the wall and became wrapped around in lightning.
"[Spirit Form: Lightning Speed]."
The level of this attack was many times higher than his other attack. This was backed by Reo's mana. Seeing as how his metal leg was effective, Kai used his left arm to throw a punch which actually forced the Immortal back a couple of steps.

"Bastard!"
Fate grabbed Kai's arm, pulled him close and sent out a head-butt which sent Kai down multiple floors. Amelia appeared right beside the Immortal and created a sword of blood to pierce him but was instead sent flying because of an explosion of mana. Arata and the others could no longer join a fight of this scale, the Immortal became twice as strong as when he was enraged, they didn't stand a chance before but now, they were going to be hindrances.
Nevertheless, Kai didn't tell them to leave, it appears that he has a plan for them but only he knew the truth.
A second after Amelia was sent flying, Kai jumped through the holes and landed an uppercut with his left arm and then followed it up with two kicks in quick succession, all done while he was in the air yet the Immortal only felt the pain, he wasn't truly injured. Amelia was the only one who could damage him but she was limiting herself because in the end, she had to do the final strike.
The Immortal threw his sword at Kai but Kai kicked the air and dodged it albeit narrowly. Kai had long since dropped Deceit somewhere and the Immortal didn't use his sword anymore. Neither of them were thinking properly, both of them were fighting with the intention to kill their opponent.
Kai had lost his rationality at some point and ignored his injuries, he only tried to achieve two things: to prevent his eyes from gazing at anyone else and to beat the bastard black and blue. On the other hand, the Immortal wanted to kill Kai no matter what but he was still on guard against Amelia and Erina, he figured out that Kai couldn't use Green Ki and his reflect didn't work on magic many times more powerful than him.
"HAAAA!"
"DIE!"
Kai roared and Fate cursed his opponent. The both of them unleashed fist after fist without letting the other gain ground, the only reason Fate entertained Kai was because he kept on landing blow after blow at him if he tries to attack Amelia or Erina, he was annoying.
Kai's body was bleeding all over but only Fate's suit was damaged. The exhaustion finally caught up to Kai and he was sent flying due to a careless mistake but this time, he didn't immediately get back. He struggled to stand up and when he did, half of his face was covered in blood, he was panting and his eyes were hazy, he was struggling to stay conscious.

But despite all the beatings he took, he never stopped using an insane amount of mana to protect everyone.
"You have incredible willpower but unfortunately, even you aren't immune to my gaze."
"Reo..."
Kai weakly said, smoke came out from the orifices on his face.
"Kai, be careful."
"Yeah..."
Breathing in and out, Kai relaxed his body.
"Kai, why aren't you healing?!"
Erina yelled seemingly unable to take his battered state.
"It's not that he won't, he can't heal himself."
Amelia made a grim expression and prepared to attack once more.
"Huh, what do you mean?"
Erina also took her battle stance and questioned Amelia.
Since the battle quieted down, Arata and the others peeked in- Natsumi and the rest had already arrived upstairs, the ten minutes had long since been over but there was still an endless wave of skeletons.
"Kai can no longer use healing magic on himself- unless if his body were to be somehow restructured at least."
"Did he do something to his body?!"
Erina used her magic eye to the maximum but couldn't find anything- her eye was still far too weak.
"Erina!"
Kai ripped of the pendant on his neck and threw it at Erina who caught it easily.
"Everyone, retreat. This is going to be dangerous."
Amelia nodded and covered Arata and the others in a sphere of blood, then it turned into liquid and traveled outside of the Palace.
"Erina, let's go."
Amelia held Erina's arm but she didn't move a muscle.
"Erina!"
"But Kai!"
"Kai will be fine, now let's go! Right now, he needs as much space as he can get."
Despite Erina's protests, she still followed Amelia and relocated themselves on the palace gates.
"...What is this?"
Fate furrowed his brows. He knew Kai wasn't purely human but he wasn't exactly a half-breed either.
"You're part demon- no, not just part demon... you're also part angel?!"
His eyes opened wide. Angels were beings who had the blood of Gods and Goddesses flowing through their veins but angels and demons hated each other instinctively, their blood naturally rejected each other like oil and water. Not just that, how can a mortal body actually be able to hold that amount of power? Even he didn't have confidence to survive if he was in Kai's position.
Fate immediately put himself on guard, Kai's aura was spiking.
"Mid S-class, Late S-class, SS-class...!"
Sensing Kai's power which broke through SS-class but showed no signs of stopping, Fate quickly attacked.
"Sorry, can't let you."
A middle-aged man appeared right in front of Fate who was about to punch Kai and redirected Fate's arm. Normally, he wouldn't be stopped but he was caught off-guard at Kai's power which was stepping into the realm of legends.
"Who?!"
"That's dangerous...!"
The middle-aged man leaned his head back and just narrowly avoided a laser made of flames burning his face off.
"[Shadow Chains]!"
Chains appeared in the middle-aged man's hands and wrapped around Fate, then began constricting but it only managed to delay him for a second...
"Get out of my way!"
Fate released mana and flung the middle-aged man into the wall and making him spit out a mouthful of blood involuntarily.
"Kai, hurry up already! This old man can't handle anymore!"
"Thanks, I'll pay you back later."
"...You're a member of my clan, even if everyone else is long gone, you are still family."
Kai was conflicted as the demonic and angelic blood in his body surged with power.
"Thanks, Kuroshi Tatsuo. Unfortunately, I don't really have the blood of the Kuroshi flowing in my veins but nevertheless, I still remember my sin. No longer can I be called family, but I will definitely carry this burden and never forget their memories."
"What are you babbling on about?!"
Fate roared and covered himself in flames.
Kai's left became covered in darkness while his right was covered in light. Just as Fate neared Kai and punched, Kai pointed his two fists forward, one on the top and one the bottom with a slight gap in between.
"[Hell-Heaven-rending Fists]!"
The two elements opposite of each other fused together and shot out, but even then, Fate was still far too strong. Under the laser's attack, he was walking step by step closer to Kai. He was forced back a few steps but he wasn't flung away, this type of attack couldn't kill him, it could only make him feel slight pain.
"Die, boy!"
Kai's attack was destroyed and Fate's fist was about to pierce through Kai's chest but just before it happened, two feathered wings wrapped around Kai, one dark and one white. Both of them were covered in unique aura, the black wing made one feel the presence of death while the white wing made one feel the presence of salvation but to Fate, they both looked like hell.
"I'll end this now."
