《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 127: In the Sky

Kai pointed his gun at the two injured dragons. The water dragon only needed a single shot to the chest before dying while the wind dragon needed about two or three more. Kai's gun takes about ten seconds for a full-charged shot but if he rushed it, it could be lessened by half. The minimum amount of time before Kai's gun can fire is 0.3 seconds, but Kai's normal reaction speed is so fast that he can see react to visual stimulus at 0.05 seconds but his left eye could see even faster, it can react to a hundredth of light speed, over thirty times the speed of lightning.
But that was only what Kai's brain could process, his body was different. Although that would leave Kai unmatched at swordsmanship with others, there was still many levels of power above him. His body's maximum reaction time is a little faster than his normal reaction time of 0.05, it could react with 0.01 seconds. Though Kai kept training, this was the limit for a human's S-class body.
Gods were incomprehensible and even had the body power to react to the speed of light, some went even faster. Scientific laws and common sense are irrelevant to them. To move at the speed of light would make the object have infinite mass and infinite force to move that mass. Kai was devising a method to move at light speed but it required him to break down his body and reform it. But Gods were different, they could move faster than the speed of light even with their whole bodies. The amount of force produced by a punch at the speed of light, it could obliterate anything and everything in the surrounding area. It isn't an exaggeration to say that when Gods battle, nothing would be left of the place they battled in. The largest desert on the entire planet which comprised about a third of a continent was said to be where two Gods exchanged a few blows with each other, it wasn't even an all-out battle. Of course, this was only said by the natives from the desert and wasn't exactly confirmed.
"[Wave-rending Bullet]."
Kai calmly said so and finished off the water dragon. The clouds began to form even faster and now, there were only the clouds in the distance left unformed. The dragons falling down and using attacks had also killed the beasts and Kai was progressing faster and faster.

Kai ran towards the wind dragon and took out a sword. A shield began to fall from the sky near the wind dragon, Kai threw a needle at the shield.
"[Group]."
Kai jumped towards the shield and although he was upside-down, kicking a surface and leaping was faster than flying if the distance was short.
Kai and his sword ignited into flames. The flames were so high that they even reached the altitude that the dragons were flying. Then, the flames changed color from flaming orange to white.
White flames are quick burning flames, hotter and more efficient than red or orange flames but it wasn't useful to spread a forest fire or any other strategy that used flames in a wide area but it was definitely better for short attacks.
The pillar of white flames suddenly began to gather around Kai's sword and wrap around it. But there was too much of the white flames and began to gather around Kai instead. Kai used mana to control the white flames even further and forced it to wrap around his sword.
"[Scorching Sword]."
Kai who was in the air slashed out with his sword while the wind dragon struggled to get itself ready. A breath attack was unleashed towards Kai but it did nothing. The white flames that gathered around Kai were burning the wind faster than it could form. The sheer heat of the flames then began to distort the wind and make it rise up, completely missing Kai. It turned the wind into hot air and made it rise.
"Die!"
Kai, with another burst of speed, slashed the wind dragon with his flaming sword. He appeared behind the dragon as the flames dispersed.
The wind dragon looked at Kai in disbelief as its upper and lower body became separated. Kai had cut it completely in half. But it wasn't bleeding too much, the cut was seared. But as soon as the dragon's upper body fell, blood dripped out of the orifices in large amounts.
Kai then looked at the two dragons in the air who began charging towards him in madness. Seeing a member of their own kind killed so easily in front of their eyes made them feel threatened, even if they only run on instinct. Kai breathed out slowly with closed eyes. He then took out a scythe from his pendant as his body began to be covered in shadows and darkness.

"I want to end this quickly. I suppose I could use that."
Kai had his scythe held out to the side and calmly registered his surroundings using his mana.
Clear my mind. Kai quickly removed any unnecessary thoughts from his head, even the fact that the two dragons were charging towards him at insane speeds.
Calm my body. Kai used mana to circulate his blood flow normally and even stopped the flow of adrenaline that he was receiving. He numbed his senses so that he wouldn't feel the wounds on his body nor the fatigue.
"[Unseen by vision, immaterial by touch, unshakable by speed, and immortal against power. A God can not lose a shadow, the shadow has unparalleled power. Warding off the strongest attacks and remain untouched, the shadow is unstoppable. The toughest of armor pierced, the shadow is unblockable. I am the shadow, and the shadow is one with me.]"
Kai's hand gripped the scythe tightly as he opened his pitch black eyes.
"[Execute]."
Just as the two dragons were about to smash into him, Kai's hand moved with such fluid movements that nobody would notice him as if he was part of the background. Time seemed to stand still as Kai used his scythe and cut off the dragon's necks without spilling blood. Kai then placed his scythe back into his arms at rest. At that point, time seemed to start again and the dragons missed Kai's position by a hair's breadth.
A large pool of blood was beneath the two dragon's bodies, their necks were detached from their bodies with a cut so smooth you'd think they were simply toys that fit each other. The darkness in Kai's eyes began to fade and his magic power was dropping so fast that soon, he would have the same mana as a normal E-class.
Kai immediately sat down on the floor and began to absorb the mana in his surroundings. The four dragons in his area were great sources of nourishment and soon, Kai had the same mana as his peak form.
About a few minutes after, the world that Kai was in began to rumble. The clouds in the sky were perfectly formed and everything other than Kai vanished as if they were never there. Then, Kai began to fall.
He was in the sky itself, and it looks like he was quite high too. He was at the very edge where you could see clouds and the drop from that was astonishing. Even a B-class would find it hard to have methods of surviving this drop. Even though Kai was used to flying, the air pressure from this high still caused his ears to deafen and had him half close his eyes.
Though, those minor problems soon disappeared as Kai's body quickly adapted. Kai was falling from a distance so far from the ground that he would soon reach mach speed even if he doesn't use magic.
In that case, let's go faster. This is the perfect testing grounds for that.
Kai closed his eyes as he let his body fall.
The sound suddenly faded around Kai's position and sparks of electricity zapped around Kai's body.
"With the ferocity of fire and the swiftness of wind, lightning."
All of a sudden, his body was covered in electricity and his eyes were glowing.
"[Lightning Speed]."
The electricity wrapped around his body even more until they stopped rampaging and coated his body like clothes. His face and other features were also covered but could still be seen. It's as if he was wearing clothes woven of lightning itself.
It was then that his body turned into a bolt of lightning and arrived at the floor in an instant, the ground wasn't damaged from the force of his arrival, it was just slightly burnt from the lightning itself. Kai closed his eyes during this because even his left eye which he had improved wouldn't be able to comprehend it all. He turned most of his body into plasma using magic, though it drained a lot. He used the mana-rich environment in the spirit world to instantly rejuvenate himself.
It was then that an ancient voice filled the air.
Find the gate, escape the illusory world.
Kai clicked his tongue. It said illusory world and that meant that he needed to search the whole world to find a gate which he didn't even know how large, it could be underground or in the sky too.
"Fuck."

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

A novel set in Cordoba X century during the Umayyad dynasty. Among historical figures such as Al-Mansur, and the Sultana Subh or Aurora, using her Latin name, mingle fictional characters interwoven with historical facts, that will make you go through loves, betrayals, emotions, and the dangers of Muslim splendor of time during the Islamic conquest of Hispania in century X. Two plots run in parallel; the first involving the attempt to rescue the power to Hisham II, overshadowed by Al-Mansur ambition and the second in the intricacies of the famous Al-Zahara Palace Library, when the discovery of a manuscript of the Koran can change the destiny of Islam and of its faithful. The Sierra de Guadarrama is a mountain range of Central System (mountain range of the center of the Iberian Peninsula) and was south of this chain of mountains that stood the Muslims domains based in Cordoba.
