《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 59: Reunion

Right now, there was a lot of food in Kai's house. Akane, Akemi, Emi, Erina, Juro, Kai, and Yoko were eating to celebrate Kai's return.
"So this is my little sister?"
Kai pointed at Emi. To which she responded with a giggle and grabbed Kai's finger.
"Amazing, Kai. Emi is actually very picky. She only managed to like me, Erina, and Yoko at first. She always used to cry when held by Juro and Akane. It took her time to get used to Akane but Juro is still a no-no for her."
Like the features of the Kuroshi Clan, Emi had pitch black hair and eyes. Irregulars actually have a random hair and eye color but they'll be the same. If the Irregular has black hair, then they will also have black eyes. If it's red hair, then red eyes as well.
Kai looked at Emi's hair, then Yoko's, then Erina's.
"Now that you mention it, I see silver strands of hair on your head. Are you secretly an old woman or something?"
A vein appeared on Erina's forehead and she slapped Kai.
"Ouch, what did you do that for?"
Kai rubbed his cheek over and over.
Yoko pinched her nose bridge. And Akane voiced Yoko's words for her.
"Tact. Kai, what happened to your common sense while you were away? Has not talking to anyone taken its toll?"
Kai tilted his head.
"I don't think I've said anything weird."
Also, I've talked with the old man and Reo for the past three years. Kira and Avel as well. Kai thought himself as normal.
Reo was a spirit and Kira and Avel were animals. The old man talked with no common sense at all, it was as if the old man hadn't talked to anyone in years and Kai was the first one. Naturally, Kai's way of speaking over the near three years was messed up.
"So, how strong are you now?"
Akane popped the question everyone wanted to know.
I should tell everyone about it but I doubt I won't be able to avoid the questions and...
Kai's eyes glanced at Erina then at the table.
"Well, I don't mean to brag but I'd say that if we were all to have a battle then I'd mop the floor with you all."
Juro made a facepalm and Akemi sighed. Yoko understood but lowered her body to express her discontent. Akane closed her eyes while holding her chin and Erina had a wry smile. At that moment, everyone had the same thoughts.

'No tact at all!' Were the words that popped into their heads.
Kai tilted his head with the sudden silence and had a thought run through his head as well.
'Are they overwhelmed?' Of course, Kai had little to no interaction with other humans in the forest save for the weird old man. He adapted to talking with the old man and his common sense has just been shifted a lot. Truth is, Reo was also quite confused with the way Kai talked and everything else after he got out of the forest.
The old man told Kai that he shouldn't tell anyone that he had learned from him and just say that he had learned from someone very strong and to call him 'master'. And Kai didn't want to stand out until he was strong enough that nobody could threaten him. He had read and watched a lot of shows that show the dark side of people's jealousy. It was quite frightening to think what they could do.
A prince may suddenly be jealous of his talent and power and may try to use the kingdom's influence against him or he may accidentally save a princess or someone important and gain their favor and earn the enmity of everyone who was trying to court that person.
Of course, his worries were unnecessary but something near that was always possible.
Kai scratched his cheek.
"Anyway, what about you Akane?"
Kai turned the question towards Akane. He already found out how strong Yoko actually is with that small encounter. Kai can accurately sense levels now but he had refrained from using it on them seeing as how he wanted to be surprised. Knowing everything wasn't very exciting was it?
"I'm at about the same level as Yoko. Erina is stronger but I don't have the exact amount of power she holds."
Kai tilted his head.
"Can I get an actual estimate to your power?"
Kai asked Erina.
"Well, if I were to use my full power... I doubt you'd be able to mop the floor with 'all' of us."
Erina answered Kai. It was a bit of a rivalry.
Their talk lasted through night and the three girls left. Kai was left with Akemi, Emi, and Juro.
"So, dad."
Juro had a huge grin.
"You've really changed. You always used to call me 'father' but now it's dad. It's much better!"
Juro laughed.
"Kai, I already know what you want to talk about. It's about the pendant isn't it? And the messages that came with it too."

Kai nodded.
"Yes but, there's one more."
Juro raised his brows.
"What is it?"
They fell silent as they waited for Kai's next words.
"Are we really part of the Kuroshi Clan?"
Juro furrowed his brows while Akemi kept her eyes on Kai.
"Kai, what do you mean?"
Akemi asked.
"I don't think any members of the Kuroshi Clan have divine blood or demon blood flowing in their veins."
Kai created a sound barrier before initiating this conversation. Because Kai hadn't practiced it much, he could only make the sound barrier a few meters starting from their position. It was only enough for their living room but that was enough.
Juro stood up and Akemi looked down.
"...How do you know about this?"
Juro asked first, the tone in his voice made it evident that he wasn't angry at Kai. But he was certainly angry at something else.
"During a trial, I was summoned to an arena by a God. And that God told me about all this, and amidst the hundred or so Gods that were there, the Goddess of Frost proclaimed me to be her grandson and the grandson of the Demon of hell flame. And since I am sure that you two are my biological parents, that means you two must be that half-humans that they had talked about."
They can't fool Kai with words like: "We aren't really your biological parents." or anything of the sort because Kai was born with his memories. He could see what was happening around him and could hear it all the moment he had consciousness.
Akemi sighed.
"Alright, I'll tell you the truth."
Juro looked at Akemi then sat back down.
"Then, I should begin with my youth, I guess. I met your father when I was about sixteen, I encountered him wounded and when I found out the reason, I had healed him. He had been betrayed by his demon comrades because he was being too sympathetic with humans. His half-human side made his relationship with them worse too."
Akemi had a smile on her face as she closed her eyes.
"Healing magic isn't as effective to demons and he was also on the verge of dying so in the span of three days, I healed him. We talked to each other in those three days and somehow became friends. I found out about many things that I hadn't learned in the presence of my mother. And a couple of months after that when he got back to the demon tribe, he was chased out because they found out about his friendship with me."
At that point, her smile faded.
"I was so shocked that my insisting to be friends was the reason he was abandoned by his own race and so I tried to help him. And in the span of a week of running away together, we fell in love. I decided to leave my home and mother to be with him and he did so as well. We found a home in an uninhabited place and began spending our life there. But not much time passed before we were found by mother and his father."
She opened her eyes and had a smile.
"They tried to separate us but in the end, we managed to convince them even though there were some restrictions. They gave us seals for our bloodlines and so we are only regular people now. If our seals were to fully release, we'd be S-class. But the seal lasts for a hundred years. Even though our blood was sealed, our bodies are still of a demigod and a half-demon, we will last longer than a hundred years and when our bloodline is free, it extends even further. It was merely light-hearted punishment, they really doted on their children. And they hadn't placed restrictions like we can't try to remove it as well."
Her smile got even brighter to the point that Juro began staring at her.
"Juro's father found the Kuroshi Clan and decided to place us in here, he manipulated the memories and records of the Kuroshi Clan and added a branch, he added many names but only two exist. Juro and his father. He manipulated it so that I would be considered marrying into the Kuroshi Clan. And then... you were born."
Kai unknowingly had a smile on his face as well. He had felt familial love in his past life, but it wasn't to this extent. At most, they worried about his condition when he was a child but that quickly faded. He hadn't felt this much love in the other world but in this world, he was certainly blessed.
The night continued as the three of them talked and bonded along with Emi who fell asleep.
