《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 55: A Discussion

"...is what I would say but you've already taken this test before if you remember."
Kai looked at the pedestal, the voice was right. He had taken this test before. It was in the spirit world where they tested his potential.
"So does that mean that I'm exempted from this exam?"
Kai asked a question.
"Well, yes and no. Yes, because you won't have to take this part of the test but no because you'll have to take a different one. Normally, one takes a trial from the elements before making a contract with a spirit you see."
Kai scratched his head. Of course, he wouldn't be exempted like he was in the spirit world.
"Then, what test do I have to take?"
Kai heard the voice laugh for a bit. It was a sweet laugh, as if a girl in her youth were laughing with her lover. But for some reason, when Kai heard it he felt a chill down his spine.
"Of course, it has to be a simple test of battle. Truthfully, you were supposed to take an affinity test instead of a battle test but the people from higher up conducted a meeting and concluded that a battle with you using your full power would be worth the watch."
Of course it is.
Kai sighed as a door manifested itself in front of him. He looked around the place once more and walked inside.
After Kai opened his eyes, he saw a sandstone floor surrounded by tall concrete walls, behind the walls were seats and a grand seat with designs above the rest. It looked exactly like a Roman colosseum.
If it weren't for the sky that looked like it was underwater, Kai would certainly believe he was sent to the past Earth.
"Welcome to the arena, human. Normally, only humans who have reached the summit of power are to step into this arena but we're giving you a special exception. To you who has reincarnated with his memories."
An old man's voice spoke, Kai felt pressure from the voice but there was no magic being used. It was certainly the voice of someone who has lived a long life and accumulated unimaginable power.
Kai unconsciously looked at the largest seat in the arena and found a very very faint silhouette. Kai used [Soul Call] but couldn't find anything.

Reo did once mention that there are people whose soul would be too much for me to sense but seeing as I could sense an A-class beast, I thought I could sense anything. Looks like A-class is just the tip of the iceberg.
Kai smiled wryly inside.
"Amazing, you can actually see me. Even if you only see a faint silhouette, that's still a feat worth mentioning. As expected of a Supreme Being candidate, you truly are different from other humans."
The old man's voice faded and Kai could see silhouettes all around him.
"We are the Gods and Goddesses of the elements, there are many of us and were Supreme Being candidates as well. Unfortunately, we were a bit far off from being an actual Supreme Being and so settled to being Gods and Goddesses. We're second only to the Supreme Beings. Being a God also has to do with blood. If someone were to have no blood of a God flowing within them, it is impossible to become a God."
The old man suddenly began explaining but Kai listened intently, it wasn't everyday that he could hear things above Reo's knowledge- or so he thought but this was actually common knowledge among spirits.
"There are three reasons for why we have made a special exception with you. One, you are a Supreme Being candidate. Two, you possess power above others of your level. You also use the knowledge of your past life and improve the magic of Gaia for your own. We Gods may be immortal and powerful, but we are not omniscient nor are we omnipotent. You possess knowledge that even we do not know for we are the Gods and Goddesses of Gaia and not your previous world, Earth was it?"
Kai looked around once more and found that the colosseum was only a fraction of the full capacity, Kai estimated that there were only a hundred or so.
But that was still amazing, there were over a hundred Gods in this world. His world certainly did believe in many Gods but he was not sure if there were that many. People believed in different things but even he wasn't sure if they actually existed. Some of them may just be made up by people to try and gain support after all.
"And lastly, it's because of your blood."

Kai could see the silhouette a bit clearer than before. He had his one knee raised and had his elbow resting on it with his head leaning on his hand.
But Kai could not focus on that. The voice told him that it was because of his blood. But even Reo had not known about his bloodline, all Reo said that it was very strong and wasn't fit for a mortal.
"...Could it be the blood of a God?"
Kai asked, a bit skeptical.
"...Technically yes."
What are with these Gods and their vague answers. Even the voice I heard before gave a vague answer before explaining.
"Which means that...?"
"Well, you see... a mortal body can only hold only to a single percent of divine blood. But those who are born from the God's bloodline naturally have a tougher body and can hold up to ten percent. And when those with the God's bloodline are Supreme Being candidates, they can turn their ten percent of divine blood into pure divine blood. It would stop them from being mortal and let them enter the realm of Gods. But you are strange, very strange."
Kai tilted his head, why would a God think he was strange? It's one thing for humans to think he was strange but for even a God to think so...
"You see, your body houses... a whole fourth of divine blood."
Kai wasn't too alarmed, he didn't really know how important divine blood was but he knew it was strange.
"Normally, you'd only inherit a fraction of your parent's divine blood. Your mother is a demigod so her body houses a whole fifty percent but that isn't strange at all. And she isn't a Supreme Being candidate so all that divine blood would stay dormant. But that's not the strangest thing."
The voice got a bit intimidating at the end.
"You see, your body houses a fourth of demon blood as well. Mind explaining this to me, Goddess of Frost?"
Kai could tell there was a problem with that. But Kai furrowed his brows, was he about to be eliminated? A simple thought would be enough for them to erase Kai, he didn't want to waste his reincarnation. He hasn't even completed his two goals yet.
"Hoh... You see, my daughter had a bit of a 'rebellious age' and had married a demon without consenting me. And coincidentally, that demon is a half-demon and the son of my enemy."
The voices stopped for a second before continuing.
"The Demon of Hell Flame, huh?"
The voice of the Goddess of Frost chuckled before she began talking once more.
"We had a little talk after that, but we settled it with not meddling directly with our children's affairs. We became in-laws but that doesn't mean we became friends. We let our children do as they please in exchange for sealing their power, the seal lasts for a hundred years but they've taken action to undo it just recently. I've ignored it because they're using this power to save that boy there, my grandson. Besides, no matter how hard they try, they can only unlock until D-class and never improve until the hundred year period passes. Though a hundred years is nothing in the face of a God."
The old man's voice made a 'mmm' while pondering.
"Alright, I'll let them off with that. Having the Hell Flame and eternal frost sealed is enough."
Kai felt like the voice suddenly faced him.
"Sorry for going off-topic, but we'll begin your test now. You will fight in a series of waves, about ten to be exact. They get stronger and stronger each wave but not exactly numerous. Anyway, you're in for quite the surprise. I'll also tell you that you can use all of your powers without restriction, all the beasts here are on the same level as you."
As the old man's voice faded, the clanking of metal suddenly resounded behind Kai.
A metal gate opened and several figures that looked like someone cut a piece of outer space and placed them in the human body appeared. They wore armor and weapons of the same material. Kai couldn't feel anything from them, they were certainly not alive.
The figures were quite slow, especially the ones who wielded axes and shields. They numbered around eleven. And in total, they numbered around twenty.
Kai shot out first, deciding that it will be dangerous if they surrounded him. He'd rather take out as much as he could before that.
"Superbia, [Ice Blade]."
Kai wielded his two signature swords and charged forward.

The watcher of universe and stuff.
The most devastating thing to an eternal being must be boredom. If nothing can change you, how can you yourself change? Sometimes you have to learn that the hard way. I should point out that there are multiple lead characters and they will all have their own personalities and motivations. While the story will focus more on our MC Trey, you can expect multiple POV switches. If you do not like POV switches, this might not be for you. My first book. If anyone will ever read this, be so kind as to leave a comment. Even, if all you say is an insult. As long as I can improve this work by your comment, it's all fine. One thing’s for sure. I will keep writing as if my reader can handle curse words without curling into a little ball and repeatedly saying: "Leave my safe-space alone, you monster". Therefore, you can expect some profanity.
