《Rebirth: Monarchs》Chapter 44: Secrets

Kai placed the cub in front of him and he took a piece of meat to feed it with his palm.
"So you found me because of the smell of meat?"
Kai and the cub ate together and played for a bit.
"I guess this is a nice change of pace."
Even though Kai was rubbing its head like it was his own pet, his face was blank. He then stood up and carried the cub in his arms.
"Let's find your mom."
Kai used [Soul Call] to its maximum output once more and set off with the cub in his arms.
It wasn't long until Kai could sense an extremely huge soul in his vicinity.
"...I'm going to take the risk."
It was either Avel or another beast king; either way, Kai's life would be at risk.
Kai got nearer and nearer until he felt some very rough wind.
"What is this wind?"
Kai had to cover his eyes with his arm from the wind and used his clothes to cover the cub.
Kai turned from the tree and found the sight of a huge tiger, it was Avel.
Avel opened her mouth and flame came from within and burnt the trees in front of her.
"Amazing..."
Avel then raised her paw and clawed down.
The tree was cut apart by wind like it was cheese.
"Wind...?"
Avel then raised her other paw and stomped down.
The floor rumbled and the floor suddenly formed into spikes. The spikes then pierced into the trees from all angles.
"Three elements?!"
Kai raised his voice but immediately realized his mistake.
"Boy, you've seen something you shouldn't have."
Avel's eyes were fierce as she turned around and glared at Kai.
Kai was instantly drenched in cold sweat but his face was emotionless.
"Looks like you've grown some guts."
The surrounding was heating up and the rocks were shaking. Kai could feel his own body shaking from the pressure but the expression on his face didn't help his situation at all.
The fur on Avel's body was moving with the wind that was rampaging all over the place.
"Wait."
Kai held out his hand with a voice that didn't seem to sound convincing.

Avel's eyes sharpened and Kai was forced to kneel down on one knee and a hand to support himself.
"Stop. My emotions have disappeared, I would definitely be panicked now. The only reason I can care about this is because my life has been threatened."
Veins started to appear on Kai's forehead from the pressure.
Avel's eyes narrowed and the pressure slowly started to disappear.
"I see. So when you were knocked unconscious, your emotions were eaten because you had no resistance. But it doesn't seem like they're completely gone."
Before Kai could begin to stand up, the pressure came back once more.
"That still doesn't excuse you for witnessing what I did. Only me, my child, and my mentor may know."
Pressure from gravity and pressure from power were different. Even if Kai could stand against twenty times the gravity, magic pressure weighed down not only on his body; but also his astral body which is his connection to magic.
Severing of the astral body from the physical body would stop the user from using any sort of magic and would make their physical bodies weaker. This is different from people who are unable to use magic from the moment they're born, the reason that they can't use magic is because their connection to their astral body is several times weaker than a normal person but they're not completely severed so their physical bodies are the same and have potential to use magic if the astral body's connection is somehow reconnected.
Sweat was falling from Kai's forehead and both of his knees fell to the floor, he had to use both his hands to support himself but the ground was cracking beneath him.
And once again, the cub stood up for him. It wasn't affected by the pressure and stood on Kai's back to roar at Avel.
"Hoooh? Looks like you're protecting this boy again."
Avel glared at the cub but it roared back.
"You want to be with this boy so much? Fine!"
Avel roared at the cub as she turned around and walked away. After she disappeared, the pressure on Kai instantly disappeared.
Kai sat down with rough breathing. The cub sat atop Kai's legs and licked Kai's hand as Kai's other hand rubbed the cub's head.

"Can you talk- I mean use telepathy, to tell me your name?"
"Name..."
"Yes, name."
"Name...is..."
The cub paused and Kai rubbed its head to make it continue.
"Kira..."
"Kira?"
Kira, the cub nodded multiple times and began to lick Kai's face. Still, why did his mother name him Kira?
"Alright, Kira. Let's go back to my camp."
Nothing I can do about it, I can't return him to his parent nor can I leave him out here after he had stood up for me. I'll take care of him, at least until he can learn how to fight. Tigers should instinctively know how to battle, right?
Kai carried Kira and jogged towards his camp to rest.
But during the way, his mind was elsewhere.
I clearly saw Avel use three elements, but Scarlet Inferno Tigers are fire types hence the scarlet inferno in their name.
After resting in the camp, Kai fixed Kira a bed and let him sleep. Kai stared at the sky for a few hours before standing up unable to take it anymore.
Kai walked to a deeper area and made sure there were no monsters nearby.
"In the first place, why are people and beasts only locked to certain elements?"
Kai made a blade of ice and stabbed it into the floor then took a piece of the shadows from the floor. He then imagined flames and tried using his power to materialize them but nothing appeared.
"Maybe wind?"
Kai sucked in a huge breath and exhaled slowly. Nothing extraordinary happened even if he had channeled magic.
"...Earth?"
Kai stomped the floor and imagined the floor breaking apart or making a cube but nothing happened once more.
"Ahhh, frustrating!"
Kai punched a tree but forgot to hold back so it fell down.
After a few more silly attempts at trying to get elements by yelling chants and pleading from the elements, he decided to use the element nearest to his power; water.
Ice is created from water and wind so if it's possible for Kai to get another element, it's water and wind. But he had already attempted all he could with wind and was met with disappointment and so he ran towards the place where he gets water; a nearby lake.
Kai placed his hand into the water and closed his eyes.
"[Hear me water, hear my call, Aqua Ball]!"
Kai suddenly stood up and held out his palm and amazingly... nothing happened. If anyone was there, they'd undoubtedly laugh. And someone actually did laugh.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
An old man appeared from inside the bushes with teary eyes as he laughed without restraint.
Kai would undoubtedly be writhing in embarrassment right now but all he has are negative thoughts and so just felt annoyed at the old man's laughter.
"Oi old man, shut up. I'm trying something here."
The old man didn't stop his laughter and kept muttering stuff like:
"He even chanted but...pffft!"
"The look on his face is like he was absolutely certain!"
"This fool thinking that praying to the water gods could help him!"
The old man rolled around the floor wihlst pointing at Kai.
"It's not even that funny..."
Kai felt a headache coming on and turned around to leave.
"Wait, boy."
Just as Kai turned around, the old man suddenly straightened his face and had a special type of air lingering around him but...
"You might not have any food right now do you? I'm kind of hungry."
The air disappeared as soon as it came.
Kai sighed and gestured for the old man to follow him to which he happily followed.
Once Kai reached camp, he had gave the old man some of his leftover boar meat and watched the old man scarf it down.
"Thanks for the meal."
The old man bowed his head with crossed legs and said his thanks.
"Now, want some lessons?"
Kai tilted his head.
"Lessons?"
"That's right."
The mysterious air around the old man returned.
"How would you feel if you could do this?"
The old man's hand had a ball of light and the other had a ball of darkness. The elements around him were gathering around him, the wind, the water, the earth, and flames. Everything was gathering around him as if he could control energy itself.
"Now, want to take my lessons?"

Museum of Deadly Beasts
Lin Jin never imagined he would ever transmigrate. And to such a peculiar world at that. Here, deadly beasts were regarded as sacred, and thankfully, he owned a museum for deadly beasts. “Master, this is just a dying little tortoise…” “What tortoise? This is a rare species that contains the blood of a Black Tortoise and could be promoted up to level seven.” “What about this shedding mongrel?” “Mongrel? How narrow-minded. This is a branch descendant of the snarling hound with a hint of Kirin’s blood. Take my word for it and sign the blood contract at once. I guarantee you that you’ll soar to success and be on your path to invincibility!”

Evel was just a farmer boy in a remote village. Where other boys left to go on adventures, he stayed with what remained of his family, toiling away at the field his father had left him with. One day, as he explored the woods, he was attacked by a wild goblin. Afraid and weak, he could only cower when a knight came to his rescue, saving him from his untimely death. Then, as he stared at the corpse of the goblin, he had an idea, and buried the goblin into the soil before planting some seeds over it. He thought the goblin would act as a good fertilizer! At least, according to that old book he read. To be fair, it was. But how was he supposed to realise that it would bear so much more? A slice-of-life story of a fantasy farmer boy growing towards the future, and all that happens along the way. -Updates roughly twice a week. New chapters every Tuesdays and Fridays-

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] [participant in #NaNoWriMo] Preface: This fiction will contain four different stories set up as a challenge for myself and to get better at writing. The challenge for royal road writathon is a 55.555 word goal while the nanowrimo challenge is 50.000 words. Reader suggestions is turned on, feel free to point out errors I missed and I'll fix them up! Chasing sun, napping softly: Cultivation/Xianxia genre. Some parts will poke at the ridiculousness of the Xianxia gerne. We follow the life of a magical fox monster, who doesn't like how the cultivation world works. Said beast seems to have more knowledge than is usual for normal magical beasts. In it's infinite wisdom it decided to search for the main character of the cultivation world to have a cozy and safe place beside him. Our fox will act as a "wise beast" to coast along on the main characters rise to greatness, all for peace, happiness and that amazing napping spot in the sun. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing in first person. Comedic effect between talking vaguely and sounding wise. The cost of heroism: A story more centered around fights and mental health of hired mercenaries/heroes. The world is infected with an eldritch corruption. Humans are trying their best to explore and clear out wilderness and the dungeons hiding in them to establish new cities. Lords seek for hired hands to do the professional work. Thanks to the setting, the story will show how awful pasts are the norm and how pragmatic people became thanks to that. People exchange their sanity for riches, fame and gods acceptance. Interpersonal relationships change drastically and quickly. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing grim scenes/imparting a feeling of how grim the world is. Writing fight scenes. Showing different mental states. Describing their influence on people during fights, walks or even after successful or failed campaigns. Who will be the next powerhouse? : A story about a gaming show, it's host Staan and the different participants. Stereotype characters, stereotype backstories, silly challenges and quizzes. The winner of those challenges gets powerups for their power system. Be it magic, ki, psychic power or anything else imaginable and unimaginable to reach the power of gods. The challenges for myself with this story: A softer tone for storytelling. Making the reader smile and enjoy themselves. A different try at slice of life story. I was left behind on earth as my family conquered another world and enjoys riches, but that's okey because I got a cheat too! : Stereotypical Isekai story parody twisted into an Urban Fantasy story. The challenges for myself with this story: Writing over the top and overdramatic scenarios/scenes Writing in first person. Walking into stereotypical scenarios and making them more dramatic/giving them a twist. Different type of humor.

"Like a treasure map in a bottle, We were slowly drifting apart, Mother Nature sailing our purpose out to sea, The more I got to know you, I realised how much of a hoax your devotion was, Almost as fake as the smile I paint across my shattered face."This collection of poetry releases trauma in the form of expression - mainly the words I could never build up the courage to say. Most of these poems present conflict of the mind and allude to mental health struggles, which may be relatable to a certain community of people.Ranks -#3 in poem#3 in poembook#8 in poetry collection #7 in sadpoems#6 in poemcollection #7 in wisdom #15 in poetic
