Tiberius POV
I watched as the running midgets and old man reaching the front of the shield wall.
"Halt!" Shouted by the men in the front.
They stopped and turned around showing their backs to us and faced the incoming creatures, they unsheathed their swords, hammers, maces, and staff preparing for the upcoming battle.
I was surprised by their actions, for those midgets and that old man to face those creatures mean they have great courage and showing their back to us and trusting us so quickly. I grin as I see this. I heard galloping behind me, I looked to see Darius coming after securing the prisoners, he goes to my side and raised his axe smiling excitedly for another battle.
I nod and shouted my command as soon as they are in range.
"Archers release!"
Soon arrows fly to the air and rained down on those creatures. Soon shouts of cries can be heard. None of the arrows missed because there were too many targets and they were poorly dressed for battle.
"Fire at will! You don't have to aim just keep shooting!"
More arrows fly into the air and hitting their marks. The creatures continued their charge and facing them are shield and steel of Rome and 13 midgets and an old man. The centurions ordered their soldiers to throw their javelins before they arrive killing more of those creatures, soon they arrived and slammed on the shields.
BOOM!
A loud impact can be heard as the creatures slammed into the shield wall. Shouting can be heard as the legions battle in melee.
I watched my men easily kill them by the hundreds per seconds, but I was surprised again by those midgets, their martial prowess as they slay those creatures, they rotate their bodies as they slam their hammers at the creatures tossing them far, slashing at their legs and hammering down their heads, I saw a fat one using his tummy to push back those creatures and that old man wielding his staff and sword skillfully as he slay more creatures than a single man could.

"Whoever they are I want them to join the legion."
-------------------------------
Garen POV
"Legionaries hold the line! Push them back!"
I grit my teeth as those vile creatures try to push us, but legionaries will stand their ground no matter how much they slam their weapons and bodies at our shields.
I hacked another one as I see them jumping over us.
"Kill! For Rome!" I shouted to my men to increase morale.
While killing another one of those creatures I see those midgets bravely fighting even though they are getting surrounded.
I spot enemy archers aiming their arrows to their direction and I screamed to my men.
"To me men protect them!"
We arrived to their side slaying enemies near them and raised our shields into tetsudo as arrows rain down on us.
The midgets stared at us as we raised our shield over them, shielding them from the rain of arrows. I look at the midget with black hair holding a wooden shield and he stared back at me and I smiled at him.
I hear the arrows stopped falling down on our shields and I shouted to my men: "Break formation and throw your javelins at their archers before they reload!"
Javelins fly through the air and piercing their frail bodies.
Seeing the javelins hit their mark I charged to the front slaying more of this creatures.

*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.

Directorate: Nationbuilding in Apocalypse
A nation is just a means of survival. Metro Manila fell within 5 months of the first report of cannibalism. Once a hyperurbanized region of 15 million inhabitants, it's been reduced to a dead, greenless shell. Most of the infected had since left to ravage the countryside. The central government was nowhere to be found. Among the survivors who clung to the few gardens and humble plots of arable land left, one of them finds evidence that the slaughter wasn't going to just end with the first wave. Without a nation and a wall of guns, everyone will die. Directorate is an original nationbuilding webnovel that focuses on the gradual rise to power of a select few individuals, and the subsequent unification of the survivors of a devastated Metro Manila. Releases targeted at every 1 to 3 weeks. If there are no chapter updates after 3 weeks, there will be a progress update. Number of releases targeted at a maximum of 100 chapters. Every 10-15 chapters, there will be a 1-month hiatus to let me plan for the next 10-15 chapters. Double releases have a not-insignificant-but-still-small chance of occurring.
