Germania
Tiberius POV
I looked towards where the voice came from and see a man entering the tent. The man that entered the tent was Garen Crownguard, my left hand and childhood friend. He's twenty-four years old, short brown hair and first son of Pieter Crownguard, a senator and founder of the praetorian guards academy of Rome.
His father was a foreigner and a wandering mercenary before saving the emperor from an assassination attempt while he was on the road. The emperor gratefully awarded him citizenship and position to become the head commander of the Praetorian guards. Agreeing he later established the praetorian guards academy where they enrolled both commoners and patrician nobles. Because of its success he became a senator by only a short amount of time. When Garen was born he was nurtured to become a praetorian guard. When the emperor married my mother he later join me as my guard.
I watched Darius and Garen argue like they always do since we were kids.
Darius laughed and mocks Garen. "Have you ever slept with a woman?" He grins as he said that.
Glaring at him Garen clasp his chest "My duties come first." He paused "I'm too busy training the men and leading them in battle. I have responsibilities if I become like you the reputation of the praetorian guards would go down the drain."
"BAH!" Darius spats. "What's so great about what others think?"
Watching the duo argue I shook my head and intervened before it escalates. "ENOUGH!" They both stopped arguing as the looked towards me. "Both of you stop bickering like children and tell me what's the situation of the army."
Garen glares at Darius before shaking his head. Looking towards me he explained the situation of the army. "Your majesty we lost a legion of infantry, the wounded are being treated but we lack supplies, we also managed to salvage some equipment from the field and we captured ten thousand prisoners but they are being rowdy and uncooperative."

I coldly looked at Garen and replied. "Kill some of the prisoners as an example to show that we won't tolerate their behavior. They're now slaves of the empire and must be obedient as slaves if they want better treatment or else will send them to the mines or the gladiator pits." I paused and took a parchment that listed our plunder. "The loot from Germania will be enough to replenish our forces but they need to be trained and equipped, you will be in charge of that."
Nodding his head Garen saluted then glared at Darius before leaving. Looking at Darius he raised his middle finger at Garen's departing figure before looking towards me. "We only lost six hundred men from the charge, easy to replace with the loot we have. Some of the soldiers are still chasing down the barbarians." He paused and smiled at me. "We can't let those precious slaves go right? and we also found some chests filled with Parthian gold in the enemy camp."
I stared at Darius before replying. "So the information was true, looks like it was the Parthians who instigated those barbarians, they will pay when the emperor finds out. Clean up the battlefield and get the men back into formation we will go back to camp before nightfall."
Darius saluted before leaving the tent. I stared at Darius departing figure before sitting in my chair to rest.

Lament of The Demiurge
The Great Law of Blood is simple: when you kill someone, you take their EXP. When you get enough EXP, you level up. When you level up, you become better at killing people. The cycle has continued since before the time of the gods and has been going on thousands of years after they died. It's a good thing, of course. It rewards punishing the evil creatures of the world: goblins, kobolds and other sorts of terrible monsters. It will surely go on for eternity. People thought the gods would live for eternity too, but they were slain. This world has never, and will never, stand still.

Authors Comment: Hello guys, I am bilingual, sorry if there is bad grammar or it just doesn't make sense or something along the lines. If there are any mistakes (which I know there will be) please tell me even if it's just a minor one. Thank you. Jake was just a normal high school student who plays games and reads manga/novels, he doesn't like to go outside that much and he's a little socially awkward. On one day Jake was just reading a novel and he mumbled ''Status''.
