《The Immortal Dragon And Dragon Girl》Chapter - 29

I don't believe it
I can't believe it
How is this possible
What
I don’t
...
Okay okay
Calm down
Take a deep breath
One
Two
..
What the hell
Holy
I cant
BELIEVE THIS
THIS IS-
No
Calm down, calm down.
Okayokayokay
Take it from the top.
Let’s work our way to the present.
Maybe i can gain some insight from that.
Maybe...
Okay, a deep breath
Pheew
So, from the beginning.
It all began with the dance
Something magical happened there
I think..
I think I found my purpose
My reason to live.
I made my choice,
And I don't regret it
She, on the other hand
Was very taken aback, confused and worried.
Maybe even scared?
I don't blame her, it’s not everyday someone gives you their name.
And in turn, their entire life.
But I don't regret it
My life is hers now
And for that, I’ve given myself the responsibility to protect her
To be her shield
But...
How am I supposed to protect her from that…
That, DRAGON!
HOLY-
No calm down. From the top
From. The. Top.
Anyway
As the dance continued, and I made my promise
We gathered to a pub
The five musicians following and a great big fellow
I think she called him an elephant?
But that’s not important.
During that stay, she drank
She drank a lot.
And while drinking, she avoided me, not talking nor looking to me
Which did not bother me,
I knew she would feel weird with me.
Her happiness is more important.
Her happiness, is mine.
Anyway, the night continued.
Drink after drink
Words getting tangled in her mouth
Leaning to much
Blinking to often
Yes.
She was officially, too drunk.
And as the other patrons called it a night
She also wanted to go
But as she still avoided me, I wondered
To where?
As I tried to guide her home
She shoved me.
Screaming at me to go away
Then staring at me, looking
Horrified at her own words.
Okay
I might have been a little too pushy
To close when she needed to breathe.
To think.
I should have given her some space.
But after considering that,
She is also very drunk.
I need to stay close, close enough to intervene if something where to happen
But not close enough for her to see.
I hope she does not hate me for this
If she finds out.
Let me tell you, chasing after her was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever done
She’s faster than the wind
Even in this drunken state
The only reason I could keep up was that she, on multiple occasions
Tripped or ran into walls.
The yells from Fauns guiding me in the right direction.

Suddenly, I found myself outside the walls.
But still running.
What has gotten into her?
I thought.
She ran and ran
And ran
The walls far from sight
The moon the only light.
And soon enough, I stopped
Hidding in one of the slopes
Hearing a scream
Her scream
A scream I was not familiar with
A scream of sorrow
“YOU STUPID DRAAAAAGON! WHERE ARE YOU!”
Dragon?
Stupid?
What the hell is she saying?
Why is she so sad?
What is going on?
Such thoughts went through my head.
Thoughts of a lost children's book
That she had gotten too drunk
Maybe a past that even I could not comprehend.
But she continued
“DRAAAGON! WHEEEERE AAARE YOOOOU!”
“WHEEERE ARE YOOOU!”
“WHERE ARE YOOOOU!”
“DRAAAAGON!”
Each shout going louder
And louder.
Until the last one where she got quieter
Maybe realising the futility in her screaming
Looking down on the ground
Shaking.
But I barely saw that
As my eyes were glued to the sky
A sky that was blue
But not the normal blue
A sapphire blue
A glittering blue
With two glowing orbs of blue
I was staring at a flying, blue mountain.
Slack jawed, stunned and confused.
Thoughts not properly forming as I stared in awe.
Then, it spoke
Words forming perfectly, sounding beautiful yet powerfull.
“Can you not scream so loud human. I can hear you very easily you know. ”
Wha-
Wa-
WHAT
Is-
Is...
Is that a Dragon?
Wh-
My body shook, my eyes tearing up
Hand on bow, hand turning white
Why is there a Dragon there?
Then it spoke again.
“Human, No touching”
And after saying that, she responded
A response I could not even dream
Not even picture, not imagine
“I missed you.”
...
Is she talking with the Dragon?
How in the world is that even possible?
I thought Dragons were extinct.
The great war, a war of all races
A war led by us Faun, to exterminate
To kill
But ultimately failing, as the Dragons were to strong
But somehow, making them disappear
Never to appear in a thousands and thousands of years.
Thought to be gone, gone forever.
How...
How can this be-
Then my ears shot up, hearing something even more stupid.
Even more absurd
“..... tell you what, give me a hug, and I’ll tell you”
“What, how dare you. You lowly human, you should be happy that I even deigned to come here, to speak to you, to sho-“
“Yeah yeah, I know you will. Do you want to know or not?”
...
“One hug.”
“WOOHOOO!”
No way
No way in the words spoken by gods is this possible!
A Dragon would never agree to something so bizarre as a hug
Advertisement
They are too proud.
Maybe a wyvern would agree, as they were once humans
But this
Is not a wyvern,
Too much power, too much mana
And to many legs
...
I don't understand. What is happening?
Am I dead?
Then something even more absurd happened
Something that made me question my choice of allegiance to her
For I might have had to fight a Dragon
“Hey, why are you so slimy? Are you sweating?”
“Human! Dont speak ill of my scales.”
“You should bathe, this feels pretty nasty.”
“YOU DARE SPEAK LIKE THIS HUMAN! YOU.. STUPID!”
“HAHAHA Sorry! Haha, but you're just to funny!”
I stood my hand, letting the arrow rest loose on the bow.
Because of something simple
Something so normal, yet unheard of
An honest laugh
Coming from her
I never thought she could laugh so beautifully.
It’s so honest
Just like a childs.
A smile coming to my face
I knew it
I’ve chosen someone great
I’ve...
Wait a second.
She was teasing a Dragon
WHAT THE HELL
WHAT IS SHE DOING?!
HOW IS SHE NOT ALREADY DEAD?
Once again
She rose higher than my expectations
Making something that should have made this entire world burn.
She angered the Dragon
Making him scream in rage
Shout and yell
Breathing fire, melting rocks and crushing everything
Even making me sweat, the fire being too hot.
Something that should be impossible, considering I had apperently gotten fire resistence.
And standing in the middle of it all
She stood
Clothes burnt off
Fire licking her body
Rocks rushing past her.
Standing on top of an unbroken pillar in a sea of chaos
But
Being completely fine.
Even sporting a beautiful smile.
Another new thing
Another beautiful thing
Another thing I will protect.
As time moved on
The Dragon finally calmed down
And time had come to where we are now
The present
And...
I don't understand anything.
I’m in the dark
“Human, you do know we are being watched?”
“We are being what?”
As she said that, she hurriedly turned around, looking for what the Dragon pointed out
Who in return
Disappeared
He...
What?
How can a humongous Dragon just
Up and dissa-
“Here he is”
Quickly turning around, bow in hand
I aimed up
Aiming at a
Phoenix?
“Faun, I would not do that if I where you”
I gulped
Is-is this
The Dragon?
“Oh, Mister Butler! Good to see you”
She ran up to us, a big smile still on her face
But as she got close, her smile quickly faded, looking at my bow.
“Eeeeh, mister Butler, you should really, and I mean REALLY put the bow down”
I stared at her, eyes disbelieving
But obeying her words.
“Hm, I see that you have gotten yourself a pet Faun while I was not looking. Interesting.”
“He’s not a pet, you stupid dragon! He’s my friend!”
“Considering you, you would probably call a stone a friend, so that part does not surprise me.”
“Hey! I would not call a stone a friend. Although if it could talk, then that would be another question.”
“Yes, yes human. Now Faun, why are you spying on us?”
The Dragon said, taking his attention from her to me
I gulped twice more.
Feeling my throat close up
Dried up, feeling worse than a desert.
But before I could speak, she interrupted me.
“He’s a bit shy. So stop being so close and intimidating”
“Hrmpf, as if. I, by my very nature, is an intimidating creature. Lowly creatures all around the world should be terrified of me, bow and grovel at my feet as I question them”
“I won't”
She answered back lighingly fast.
“You are an anomaly, not of this world”
“Hey! Take that back, I’m totally one of this world. I’m like, the best of this world”
“Sure. Anyway, Faun. A nod is sufficient. Did you come here to spy on us?”
I looked up to the Dragon, then shifted my view to her
Shaking my head
“Dont lie to me Faun, I can see through such things”
He came closer, fire licking face, but not burning
Then she spoke up
“I’m sure he did not spy on US, only me. I think he just wanted to make sure I was okay”
Saying that, she looked down on the ground, shyly kicking a nearby pebble.
“Hmm, maybe. Then Faun, did you consider killing me when I showed up?”
I stared back at the Dragon, eyes filled with fear
But having already seen through one lie
I thought that I should probably tell the truth
So I nodded
“Hooohoo. Good answer Faun. Even if you would not have stood a chance.”
He then turned to her, flames lifting away from my face
“I like this Faun, you made a good pet”
She looked up, face turning to a frown
“For the last time, He’s not a pet!”
And from that, they started to bicker
Talking back and forth
Calling each other stupid
Multiple times.
With me, still laying there
Looking up at them
Finding myself confused
Bewildered
But strangely
Happy.
I guess
This is my life now.
Who would have thought
That my life would change so much in just a week
What a life
What a beautiful life

I was just like everyone else. At least, I thought so. Everyone grew up in a mansion with servants, trained to be a debutante, had a traveling archeologist for a father, and gave it all up to do whatever the hell they wanted. Right? Well that’s what I did. I was happy. As happy as a single twenty four year old girl can be living in an apartment selling shit online to pay the bills. Not actual shit, that's gross. No, I bought stuff from garage sales, thrift stores, and junk shops, and resold it in my online store. I was pretty good at finding stuff to peddle to my customers. I made rent every month and didn’t have to strip. I’m a bit too chunky to swing around a pole anyway. Life was great! Until two sexy men broke into my apartment and woke me up from the most erotic dream my sexually depraved mind could come up with. One was between my legs, the other was... Oh well, it was a dream and I didn’t even get to finish it. Those bastards! Now I’m supposed to believe my dead father wasn’t an archeologist, but some kind of paranormal agent working for a secret organization called The Guard. My ability to find items for my customers is just a perk inherited from him. And I’m supposed to use my inherited powers to save the world. All while these hunks of man flesh guard me from other paranormals out to get whatever the hell they think I have. A certain body part is dripping with excitement, literally. But my mind is saying “Hell No!”
