Scene 1 - Jungle Girls

“Rune… I hope she’s ok…”, a youth was mumbling under his breath.. whilst walking on the path set before him. He seemed lost in his memories, thinking about something that only he truly knew the meaning of.

A voice behind him rang, full of lazy curiosity, “Hey old man what ya mumbling ‘bout?”

The youth was so shocked that he almost fell over and coughed up blood, he was only 18! Turning around, he began to give these two crazy girls a piece of his mind!

“Look here! My name is Vince! For the hundredth time, I’m not an old man! I’m only 18 and barely have any hair on my chin…”

The two girls stared at him and when he turned around, he got a good look at them. One was shorter than Vince, only coming up to his neck, while the other was taller than Vince by a half-foot. Their names were simple; for the taller girl her name was Tal, and the other was Uru. They were sisters as well!

They wore white tribal feathers in their wild, long black hair that was tied up in braids. Uru wore a tribal tattoo of the jade-moon rabbit on her arms and a star under her eye; while Tal wore a flame wolf tattoo on her cheek. Both of them wore clothing that consisted of gray furs that smelled like the wild; adorned with dark and white feathers.

Wielding ancient spears in hand, they walked proudly as a wild aura soared around them; the two were both barefooted. On their legs were iron shackles, with elemental gems embedded in the iron, that gave off a fickle of green light.

Their skin had a natural tanned color that matched well with their brown eyes. Of the two, Uru wore a carefree expression, compared to Tal having a stark contrast to being cold and distant. They had pretty good looks, despite Tal’s giant scar covering most of her neck.

While walking, Vince and Tal had exchanged stories about their scars to pass the time; he had found out Tal couldn’t speak that well. So instead her sister Uru shared the tale of how she had gotten injured, hunting monsters for their tribe to eat. If not for a mysterious old man passing by, she would have died otherwise, that’s why the two came to learn under his tutelage and test themselves.

Vince felt no malicious intent when he first met the girls in the Labyrinth. Still, he couldn’t be 100% certain that he could trust them; he decided to test them to see if they were trustworthy companions. Only to be quickly proven that these girls, although strong, couldn’t lie.

Vince tried to examine them with many questions, using his knack to tell truth from lie that came he acquired from the slums. They never told a lie; even if it seemed that their life depended on it. To Vince, it felt alien that such pure beings could be born in the wild.

They behaved themselves well enough though; they had no manners to speak of, trying to feel up his body… Asking where he got his scars, the questions never ended with them; it was strange for him to interact with these girls.

Despite the negative side of Tal not talking and how they seemed to treat monsters they came across, as a game when killing them, these two sisters seemed alright to hang around for now as allies. At least for the remainder of the test. However, Uru’s stream of questions annoyed Vince to the brink of anger; such as where he got his clothes; why he had so many scars and if he had a companion.

This ordeal truly tested Vince’s willpower.

Sadly, that wasn’t the only thing that made Vince pull his hair out; Uru kept calling him old man!

Even while killing monsters or fending off other contestants, it was always “Watch out, old man!“

The other contestants laughed at him, while they chose to flee, calling him an old man as they laughed.

Resizing her spear, Uru hung it on her bracelet, then she crossed her arm in clear displeasure, “Hmmm, ya say dat, but ya look like ya an old man. Scowlin’ at people crossin’ ya path, ya lookin funny!”

It wasn’t his fault the scars made him look this way! Blame the people who did this! With a dark and dejected shadow over his face, Vince’s thoughts turned very dark…

Then Uru laughed like a drunken man near the fire pit, seemingly amused by Vince reaction. Tal cracked a smile under her cold demeanor; though to Vince it seemed to be a frown on the account of her scar.

Vince sighed, at his wit’s end, “Then can you give me a nickname? If it’s too hard for you to say my name Uru, give me something that’s not old man.”

Instantly he regretted his words, when he saw Uru grin with pleasure, “Surea, I got ya a perfect name, for ya, it’ll be Viney Ja ja ja!”

Uru laughed hysterically in an odd manner while holding her sides, seeing Vince as a joke. Vince shrugged his shoulders and just let it go, it was better to be called… Viney than old man... at least now he wouldn't be made fun of when people fled from them.

Tal spoke, growling a few words, “Letttzz. Gooo. Nnnooowww.”

Nodding, Vince turned around and led the way, washing his hands of the manner. These two had shown themselves valuable allies when fighting contestants and monsters that came their way.
