Scene 3A - Duke Kavor
Sitting atop his prized war cat, Duke Kavor sat in the back lines smiling and drinking from his spirit wine while watching his undying cursed elves slaughter the prince's forces. He knew that by the time the prince’s forces figured out that the cursed elves had been turned into undying army it would be too late to change the outcome of the battle.
With his summoners taking power from the malice of the dead, giving them an endless supply of mana, they would whittle down the prince's forces without any of his main army dying. The Prince would die with the rest of his men, and he would march forth to Green Ruby, Wolf country's capital city, with the Prince's head in hand! Just thinking about how the battle was already his sent shivers of glee down Duke Kavor's spine.
A man dressed in black robes smelling of rotting blood sat in front of the Duke, his eyes cold and devoid of life, his voice hoarse and demonic, “Well it seems you won't be needing my services, Duke. But even so, your money will not be returned. Our organization has standards, you see.”
Duke Kavor's expression instantly soured. He gritted his teeth as he thought that the moment would have been perfect if not for this damned assassin. His King should have trusted him to carry out this task, but had hired this useless freak 'in case things went wrong'!
If he had a choice, he would gladly banish these assassins and their vile organization from his lands, beheading all who resisted in the process and mounting their severed heads on the walls! Alas, these warring states kept him from doing so, with battles both large and small rampaging across the world more frequently as the years passed.
In fact, every country had an almost crippling need for raw strength in order to fuel the endless wars. It had reached the point that no matter what one's background was, be it a prince, noble or commoner, they were all thrown into the front lines in order to die for their country, for honor, for glory!

With those thoughts in mind, the Duke could only reel in his anger and give the robed man reeking of rot a slight nod. Even trash has its uses, and this man in front of him would merely be yet another pawn Li Shen, the Country of Fiends, used to become the greatest kingdom in the world!
“Report! Report! Urgent news from the front lines, Master Duke Kavor!”
Scene 3B - Counter Attack!
On the other side of the field, the prince’s forces were feeling the dread over the events unfolding upon them and trying their best to counteract against the legion of undying fiendish elves. The prince’s second in command, Boren, was left to manage the battle formations in his stead.
Boren felt the pressure as message after message came to him via magic, “The flanks are crumbling under the endless waves of elves! We can’t hold the formation much longer unless we deal with the summoners!”
Boren let out a deafening roar, “Yal, Ken! Take three thousand men each and reinforce the flanks! Hold out as long as you can! Voira! Order the mages to use a massive tracking formation and have them mark all the summoners! Dalous, how is the vanguard holding out?”
Dalous instantly replied, “They are holding out with minimal losses, but the elves on their side seem to be as time passes!”
Boren arched his eyebrows into a v, making him look like a villain. This was the only good news that he had received ever since the battle against the duke started, “How long will it take for the elite strike force to reach the summoners hiding behind the elves?!”
“The elite strike team won’t make it to the back fields before the flanks collapse! Unless the Vanguard breaks through into the back ranks, all is lost!”
Boren crushed his armchair into dust when he heard that the strike force wouldn’t make it in time. If things kept going this way even retreating would be impossible!

If need be, he would have to call for a forced retreat, risking heavy losses in the process, “How is the prince?”
“The prince and his forces are in a battle against three elven experts in the 5th realm of Heavenly body refinement. Neither side can either advance or retreat!”
Boren cursed, the veins popping out from his neck, “Fucking hell! Countering all our plans! There must be a spy somewhere within our ranks, leaking all our plans!”
“Give the order to have the vanguard forces create strike forces to break through and kill the summoners! If none of them reach the heart of the enemy's formation, our army is done for!”
…
Minutes ticked by, eventually turning into a long nail-biting hour as the Prince's forces were slowly grinded into the ground by the endless waves of fiendish elves.
Boren felt he was fighting a losing battle as his only strand of hope grew smaller and smaller, ‘Is this how the battle is going to end? What of the kingdom….’
A messenger mage sent a mental report to Boren, interrupting his thoughts, “Emergency report sir! Eighty percent of the enemy summoners are dead! The strike forces have accomplished their missions and the force led by Sergeant Jayce is sweeping to the left in a counter attack!”
Boren immediately felt the weight lift off his shoulders, his falling willpower recovering with a burst of joy, ‘The heavens haven’t forsaken me!’
Boren waved his hand forward, “By the order of the Prince’s second in command, follow their lead and trap the elven forces within!”
The messaging mage units sent his command all over the battlefield, combining four of the five vanguard units to attack from the sides and slaughter the fiendish elves and remaining summoners into a pen of death!
Scene 3C - Figure of Dark
The man that smelled of rot smiled faintly under his cloth mask, “It seems my services are in need, after all, Duke Kavor. War is a strange mistress, don’t you think?”
Gnashing his teeth, Duke Kavor didn’t try to hide the disdain and contempt he held for the robed man. But the robbed man didn’t really care what his employer thought of him, he was here by command of the organization too if the battle reached a critical juncture carry out the trump card that they so handsomely paid for.
Duke Kavor waved him off, “Hurry up and summon the beast that my kingdom paid an arm and a leg for, thief! Keep in mind that if you summon some useless creature... I'll drag you behind a horse and hang you off the city walls! It better be worth it or you will be hanging on the city walls after I drag your body back by a rope.
The robed man stands up and giving a ‘respectful’ bow, “As you wish Duke Kavor. I shall summon our lord's minion and you will see that your kingdom's money was not wasted.”
Turning around with a faint smile that quickly grew into a full grin, the black-robed man left the frustrated Duke and walked into a sixty-foot tall tent nearby. Inside the tent, eight people sat around a pattern of a circle with a nine-pointed star in the middle.
“Start the summoning! The world shall know the terror of the lord's minion, Elbirret!"

Reborn as a Magic Firefly, Help?
A rural farmer's boy is unknowingly reincarnated into a world of magic and monsters as just a wee little larva, not even considered a monster at all. But through grit and a passion for surviving, he will eventually evolve into something truly powerful and maybe, just maybe, find a way home. If that means defeating powerful foes and becoming a powerful monster himself, maybe, just maybe, that's what he needs to do. Popcorn easy-going typical "reincarnated as a monster" fic. Expect evolution trees, rare evolutions, small twists, a generally unaccepted main character who just wants to meet a human, the works. In this story, the main character is reincarnated as a larva, but his evolution will lead him down a path to become a will 'o wisp firefly hybrid, since that is what the fellows over on light novel amino requested, and it sounded cool. I'm just writing this to keep my fingers moving, so it won't have too much effort in it, but if you like stories like the beginning of the (good) reincarnated-as-a-dragon light novel, I'm sure you'll like this one. Popcorn isekai fic. The cover, drawn by yours truly, will reflect the current evolution of the main character. Also, he'll be pretty weak-to-strong, since, well, maggots are kind-of-really weak.

Unto Dark
A man of cripplingly ill mind, bridled with the spirits and regrets of the past. Wade Pierce trudges through each day of his monochrome existence, only as penance for his sins. Such a man is abruptly decamped of this world courtesy of unapologetic forces, left stranded in a realm filled with unknowns. Armed only with his potent yet fragile intellect, Wade advances into this new abyss, as he attempts to rewrite the wrongs he has committed. Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
