Scene 4B - Spells
A few days had passed since Rune had awaken from her trance, and she was currently busy learning how to cast magic. Moving rhythmically, she kicked and punched the air to release torrents of flame and poison. Unlike Vince, who had slowly studied to build up elegant spell models, Rune just used the cruder way of infusing each of her physical attacks with magic.
By the standards of mages that like to fight from a distance, Rune's current style was extremely savage. Rune made a claw with her hand and slashed downward, creating a massive fire claw that she named . Immediately after, she followed up by crooking two of the fingers on her other hand to create two fangs coated with poison, which she named . The attacks were both lightning fast and powerful, and when used against Vince's current would break through his technique like it was merely wet toilet paper.
But Rune wasn't done yet. She stepped forward, turning on her heel and jabbed out with an elbow coated in both flames and poison. Borrowing momentum from the movement, she quickly stepped back and swung out with a powerful roundhouse kick that consumed the built up flames and poison to create a massive web-like explosion.
Rune stopped testing out moves with a grin on her face and took out a towel to wipe off her sweat before sitting down next to a gourd full of water. After wiping herself off, she took a drink to hydrate her parched throat only to have drops of water escape and fall down her neck.
After a long drink, she placed the gourd back into her ring, and wiped the water off of herself before doing the same with the towel, “What to name that attack… ? Nah, that doesn't sound cute or cool enough... how about ? Yeah, let’s go with that! Then Saren won’t call me unlady like...”

Satisfied with the name, Rune got into the lotus position and quickly began to refill her mana. Unlike Vince, who found ways to cut down on mana loss and use less than what he regained naturally, Rune expanded mana freely and wastefully while casting her magic, causing her to be able to only use a few attacks before running out of steam.
After a while she was fully charged once more and ready to keep experimenting with her magic. She had the power down, so next came the efficiency of her attacks. At the most she could last only five minutes before completely exhausting her mana reserves.
In a short fight five minutes might be all she needed, but her master had given her advice stating that a mage should be as efficient as possible. Not using too much mana or too little to deal with a problem.
It embarrassed her as she was lacking in this element, so she had first trained by moving her body in the ways shown in the few fighting books her master had given her. Having learned enough moves, Rune decided that it was time to refine what she had learned and reduce the massive cost her abilities needed.
