《A Fourth Dimention Reality》Chapter 1: The Start of Something Strange

The average day of a highschooler consisted of mostly petty things; grades, teachers, romance, and hormones; but for Larson, it was a different story.

He walked as fast as he could down the hallway, ignoring any of the people who were in his way until he finally got outside the school. He kept walking until he got far enough away that he couldn’t even hear the gym class that was outside. He stopped and took a deep breath before screaming at the top of his lungs, “I hate this damn planet!" The resonance of his voice scared away any birds and surrounding animals leaving him completely alone, "All these weak as hell beings who have nothing better to do besides worry about other people!” He began to stomp around until he reached a tree, “I wish I could just kill them all!” He punched the tree he stopped in front of and now stared at the hole he had made.

The tree shook and began to tumble over until it hit the ground with a loud thud. Larson sat on the now broken trunk despite the splinters that dug into his legs. “Maybe I should just kill everyone on this planet, despite the fact that I’m not supposed to do that, I should anyway." He smirked, "I don’t know who would even try and stop me, or even if anyone could.”

As he devised his plan to conquer Earth, he was suddenly halted by the sound of someone approaching him. He had heard them before, but decided to ignore them considering it to be just some random unfortunate passersby.

Larson assumed the tree falling would have been enough to scare anyone away, but this person kept coming. He looked over to see who it was and saw a girl pulling the zipper of her jacket up. He got up and yelled to her.

“What the hell do you want?” He said.

The girl stopped for a moment allowing Larson to smirk.

“Um… do you think we could talk?” She responded.

“No.” He said in a curt response before going back to the trunk. He kept his peripheral eye on the girl and she eventually got to him and stopped beside him. Larson growled and got up to stand in front of her now.

He stared her down, taking note that she looked familiar, “What part of no don’t you understand?”

“The no part…” She said. Larson's eyes narrowed, “I-I mean," She began again, "really, I just wanted to talk to you!” She held up her hands in defense.

Larson looked her up and down with a glare, “As if some scrawny idiot would waste my time. I don’t know what you want, but I’ll kill you if you don’t get away from me.” He got closer to her as he spoke his promise. However, the girl remained in front of him unchanged.

“Well, that’s just it,” She began, “I overheard that you were talking about destroying this place.” Larson was confused to say the least, he didn’t yell that part so he was curious as to how she heard him. “But I can’t let you do that.” She finished.

“Oh? And could you care to explain why I should give a shit about what you think?”

“Because I might have to kill…” She gave a puzzled expression, “No, I mean at the very least, incapacitate you until I can get you to listen to me.”

Listening to her talk, Larson then laughed, “You must want to die or something!” She said nothing, “No? Then where does all that confidence come from? It’s a false one in any sense and I’m tired of talking to you.” Without any warning, Larson attempted to punch her, but he felt the solid impact of something else. He looked at her seeing that she blocked his punch with her palm.

“Wow, you really are like me!” She said.

“Wha-”

“But you’re being kind of crazy right now.”

“The hell are you talking about!” He raised his leg to kick her, but was once more stopped. She had simply lifted up her knee to protect her side before her fist came in contact with Larson’s stomach.

He coughed up blood as he hunched over. The hell is going on! Larson didn’t have time to think anything else when he felt her hand grip his throat. He watched as her neutral expression watched him struggle. She squeezed and he felt her thumb moving inside his throat.

“I’ll let you go if you promise not to hurt anyone.” Larson gripped her arm and tried to twist it off. “That’s not going to work, I promise you. Try something else.” She encouraged. Larson then began to move backward. His leg remained forward and he tried to trip her up, but she looked down, “Oh, that’s a smart idea, but you should know we can see things before they happen… or is it that we can react so fast it doesn’t matter?”

What the hell is wrong with her! Larson figured he’d die here to her and that wasn’t something he was planning on, so he stopped moving, conceding to her power.

“Oh, I can let go now!” She did as she said and let him go. Larson coughed until he could breathe normally and rubbed his throat feeling the indentations of where her thumbs once were. She just stared at him until he finally caught his breath and spoke with a slightly hoarse voice.

“So… you’re just like me?” Larson said.

“That depends, because I don’t really know what I am or what I’m not… I just know that I’m something.”

Larson shook his head and sighed, “If you don’t know what you are then why would you think to approach me? I could have killed you.”

“Yeah, that was a possibility, but I knew I was stronger than you.”

He glared, “What?”

“S-sorry if that sounds… um,” She paused for a long time allowing Larson to think for a second.

He wondered why she was stronger than him, was she another being entirely or was she simply more powerful than him?

“Cocky!” She suddenly said, getting his attention back, “I was thinking like conceited or something, but that wasn’t right. So sorry if that sounds cocky, but it is the truth.”

“And how’s that?” Larson asked, somewhat exhausted by her now.

“Well, we’ve had a few classes together and I was able to assess you. Besides being one of the smartest people in our entire school, you know about things no one else does. Much like me, I knew about things my teachers always said were ‘going too far’, I figured maybe I was just too smart, but then you came around and I thought maybe someone else is just like me! Then one day I followed you until I heard you talking about fourth dimension beings. So I knew I had to be something like you! As for how I’m stronger, that's because of that tree you punched, normally the whole tree disappears when I do it.” She explained.

Larson sighed, “You sure do talk a lot.” She gave him an awkward smile, “But, I know when to quit. I lost to you so I guess I won’t destroy anyone or anything.” She smiled and nodded to him, “But let me ask you something; why do you care for Earth? I’ve seen you around and it’s not like you have something dear on this planet.”

She shook her head, “You’re right, but this place has some good food, some of the people here are beautiful, and…it’s like a little ant farm.”

“Huh?”

“I mean, these guys do all sorts of stuff that makes no sense. So it’s fun to see what they’re going to do next. It’s like a TV show or something!” She exclaimed. Larson simply had no more words for her. Eventually, she got closer to him and held out her hand. “My name's Cassie, what’s yours?”
