《Magic Monsters Money》Chapter 32 Part 2: Twilight Blaster

In the midst of the heated and deadly battle between Cherlaine and Frelisk, Jane comes out running behind a pile of rubble.
She was told not to come by Cherlaine and Matilda because she is powerless. Even so, she was deeply worried about her beloved.
After her search for him in every part of the remaining parts of the buildings, she finally found Matilda with Key under a shadow of a half-destroyed building.
Seeing Key struck with five swords all over his body, she runs while screaming out his name with tears running down from her eyes.
“KEY!”
She ran to him with all her might. She rejected the thought of her beloved being dead. And when she arrived in front of him, she kneeled quickly without minding the rips she made on her dress from her fall.
“Why are you here?!”
Matilda sounded mad, but she isn't. Though she's surprised to see Jane, she's more worried about her life.
“Never mind me, Key's more important right now!”
She stands up again and looks at the sword. Without thinking twice, she grabs the sword that's stuck on Key's chest. But that was a bad move.
“AAAAH!”
Without any warning, Jane gets electrocuted by the sword's handle. Luckily, she only got electrocuted with volts almost as strong as taser. Even so, the sudden strike of electricity nearly knocked her out cold.
“I also tried to remove it.”
Matilda said regrettably because she wasn't able to warn Jane.
“The sword repulses anyone who touches it. Even if I use magic, it would still be useless because of the strong Anti-magic sword.”
“Is there anything we can do?!”
Jane cried as she hug Key's arm. She felt useless as she watches the blood coming out from all over his body.
Even Matilda, she grits her teeth and she curls down while hugging his head. She held in her tears, yet she couldn't stop herself from crying.
“I… I still haven’t told him yet! I wanted to surprise him!”
“Miss…”
Jane shifts her attention to Matilda. Because she knows what Matilda meant, she became even more worried about her. She knows that if this keeps up, it would be bad for Matilda.
Just when she was about to touch her hand, all of a sudden, the six bony wings on Matilda's back regrows instantly, destroying their cover in the process.
“I'm going to kill him!”
Jane couldn't say a word to stop her. Not because she's scared, but because of Matilda's raging anger which she saw in her eyes.
After putting Key's back gently on the ground, Matilda stands and turn towards the battlefield.
“Take care of Key.”
After saying that, she zooms out into the sky leaving Jane with Key.
Seeing Matilda fly away, Jane felt worried about her. While watching her fight against the one that killed their lover, she felt useless and helpless.
“They're fighting because they're angry and sad…”
Jane looks at Key's lifeless face. After that, she hugs his head while ignoring the blood staining her clothes. More than the scent of blood, she used every last sense in her body to feel the warmth leaving Key's body.
As Key's corpse gets colder, tears flows even more as she cries out her sadness.
“Why am I so useless?!”
She scolded herself for being powerless and helpless. She wanted to save Key, but she doesn't have the power to do it nor had she in the first place.
After a few moments, her attention shifted to the swords again.
“I won't accept this!”

Jane suddenly gets something inside her burning.
She puts Key's head gently on the floor, after that, she stands just above Key while facing the swords stuck on Key's body.
“Key is an amazing man!”
Mustering up some courage, she puts her hand just beside the anti-magic sword's handle.
“Because he's an amazing man, I'll become his amazing wife!”
After taking a deep breath, with all her strength and courage, she grabs the sword's handle and tries to lift it up with all her might!
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzt!
She got attacked by a strong electrical shock from the sword. Obviously, it's rejecting her like it did the first time. Except this time, she isn't going to let go.
“This pain cannot stop me! AAAAAAA!”
Even with every part of her body screaming in agony, she didn't let go and continues to try and lift it up.
She knew she could die if she keeps this up. Even so, she didn't give up and swallows her cries of pain.
But just when she was near her limit, all of a sudden, someone pulls her away from the sword like a wind blasting her away.
“You're going to die before he does.”
Hearing a familiar voice, Jane immediately sits up straight after she landed on her back.
Looking at the person who stopped her, Jane's eyes grew in surprise.
“Miss Elf?!”
Just like Jane said, the one standing in front of her is an elf. Not just any elf, it's Phillilia.
“We don't have much time for greetings. Sir Chardelier’s external mana is nearly depleted, if he does, his life would vanish.”
Without minding Jane's dumbfounded face, she continues to explain while drawing something in a circle around Key.
“I came here became I received a distress signal from him. He's fortunate enough that I'm still in the area of his magic's range.”
After connecting the line in both ends, she bites her own lips and makes it bleed. Without minding Jane, she kneels down just beside Key and puts her lips on his forehead.
“Even while dying, he continues to impress me.”
“Wait a second, what do you mean?”
Pausing for a while, Phillilia looks at Jane while making a stern expression.
“I mean, even with a smashed heart, he's still alive. He's so crafty he made a pseudo immortality magic that's currently keeping him alive. But because of that anti-magic sword on his body, he can only be alive for the next hour.”
Phillilia then uses her thumb to take some blood on her lips and makes a 4 inch long line between Key's head to where she is standing.
“Oh spirits of nature please answer my wish and preserve this life.”
Because Jane doesn't know how to use magic, she couldn’t understand what she just said. However, she does know one thing. She's trying to help.
The moment she finished invoking her magic, the magic circle and the blood on Key's forehead starts glowing. After that, a yellowish transparent liquid substance oozes out inside the magic circle just underneath Key's body. It then sticks and climbs up his skin. It didn't take a minute before it finally covered every part of Key’s body except for the stomach.
“Normally this would preserve anything up to two days at most, but because of that anti-magic sword, it'll take only half a day.”
Then while looking at Key, her expression suddenly changes to surprise. After that, she makes a smile on her face.
“Girl, he calls for your name.”
Hearing that, Jane becomes surprised. Though she didn't understand hoe, she crawls to Key while touching the Gel-like substance on his face to see if Key would show signs of life.

“Can you hear me?”
She holds his hand like it's the most precious thing in the world. When she heard Phillilia say Key's still alive, hope flashes into her eyes, everything else was put aside.
“He can’t hear you, but he can feel you. Through telepathy, I can communicate with him--!”
Phillilia's expression suddenly changes when she felt a sudden spike of magic power from Key. The reason is unknown, but she has an idea why.
“Yes… as long as you come back.”
Surprisingly, even without magic, Jane felt the words Key is trying to convey. Though Phillilia has telepathy, not a single word or thought could be transmitted from Key.
It's like Key created a private connection with Jane without using telepathy.
“In the middle of day and night, stars twinkle in purple delight.“
All of a sudden, Jane suddenly starts muttering some words while standing. After that, she stands up and turns to Phillilia.
“Twinkle they know, joy they show. “
Rather than speaking, it's like she's reciting a poem.
Not only that, the wind around Jane becomes violent as light comes out of Key's body and flies around Jane. Like stars in the night sky, the light twinkles as they orbit around Jane.
“Here, there, here, there, they appear and vanish everywhere.”
“Red and blue, violet they appear.”
“Between sunless day and shining night, stars come out in delight.”
It didn't take Phillilia a while to realize that Jane isn't singing. With her Decrama Crusella, she can see that Key's magic is going to Jane. In other words, Jane is chanting a spell.
“Shiny day, darkest eve, the twilight smiles, giggle as they please.”
As Jane slowly opens her eyes, her brown eyes slowly becomes dyed in purple light. At the same time, the light flying around her sticks on her dress and fuses with it.
“Amazing… I've never seen such beautiful and powerful light before.”
Phillilia unconsciously muttered so after seeing Key's magic fusing with Jane.
But just then, she notices another growth of power from another source. At that moment, a strong blast of wind hits her back out of nowhere. Before she noticed it, Jane has already disappeared.
*present*
“You! How are you alive?!”
[Though I'm borrowing her body, you are correct. I'm still alive.]
Because of the unexpected development, everyone paused for a moment while looking at each other.
Cherlaine and Matilda couldn't believe what they are seeing right now. Though the external appearance is different, the intensity of magic power they could feel from Jane is without a doubt of Key's.
Frelisk became angry looking at Jane. To be specific, at Key who is currently Jane's armor. In contrast to that, Jane gives him a stern and angry glare.
[My main body might be dying, but my rage is burning like fire. You hurt my brides the way I dare not to. Because of that, I'll make you experience something worse than death!]
“Feel my anger!”
Like they're in sync, Jane immediately lets out a cry when Key finished talking. While aiming the cannon's mouth at Frelisk, for unknown reason, the armor that is Key is shining. Still, it didn’t bother Jane at all.
“You may look more powerful than before, but I am still above you! Know your place heretic!”
Because of Frelisk's extreme growth of power, his jump broke the ground leaving a large crater of mass destruction.
Even in the face of incoming death, Jane didn't get scared at all.
“The closer you are, the easier I aim.”
[That's my future wife!]
Jane's cheeks became a bit rosy when Key cheered for her.
While aiming and calculating, Jane’s augmented mono-scope reads and shows the distance and speed of her target. Not only that, it has a crosshair connected to the cannon to make sure that both her vision and her cannon's aim is in the same direction.
This was all made possible by Key after they combined. Some fragments of his memories and thoughts became shared with Jane along with his power.
“DIE!!”
“Sky painter! >”
Along with a short chant, Jane pulls the trigger and releases the charged condensed mana inside the cannon. When it got a meter off away from the barrel, it suddenly becomes a ball.
“Such magic can't-!”
Before Frelisk could finish his words, the ball suddenly explodes and lets out lines across the sky. But it didn't stop there. All of this violet lines curves back towards Frelisk like homing missiles.
Frelisk stops mid-air and pulls out another sword to dual-wield.
While letting out a loud battle-cry, he slashes every line that comes to him one by one with great speed and power.
[Eat shit, you bastard!]
“Destroyer of sky and earth! >”
Without giving Frelisk a chance to evade, Jane pulls the trigger again and blasts out a large quantity of mana like a giant laser from a cannon.
Because Frelisk was busy destroying the rain of attacks, he didn't get the time to defend against a bigger one.
Frelisk got hit by the cannon’s shot and gets blasted down to earth, while making a 20 meter wide hole on the ground where Frelisk landed.
On the side, Cherlaine and Matilda were speechless as they don't know how to react to the sudden appearance of Jane. Not only that, Jane's execution of power sent chills down their spine.
Instead of being glad, they felt rather, scared of her. But deep inside, Cherlaine felt a bit of frustration as to why Key only reached out to Jane.
Matilda has the same idea, but she understands why it's like that.
“Cherry, I know your frustrated. I am too, but I kind of understand why.”
“You know the reason?”
While looking a bit down, Matilda looks at Cherlaine's face and makes a wry smile.
“Jane was the first girl who Key fell in-love first. That goes for Jane also. You and I, we're just second to her.”
Hearing that, Cherlaine's face becomes full of shock. After a few moments, she looks up to Jane who's flying in the sky.
“I see now. Now that you said it, I did notice how Key looks at her. He might have not notice it himself before, but he did have feelings for Jane.”
Matilda felt some self-pity after listening to Cherlaine which made her giggle a bit.
“He's quite dense even though he's romantic. I can't believe we fell in-love with such a weird man.”
“Pfft! Yeah, we got fooled.”
Cherlaine also couldn’t help but giggle at Matilda's words.
But just when their mood improved just a bit, it got interrupted by a strong quake from both ground and air.
“DON'T LOOK DOWN ON ME YOU PEASANT!”
The intensity of magic power everyone could feel from the surroundings suddenly elevates the earth. And like a raging volcanic eruption, Frelisk bursts out of the giant hole he landed.
But that's not all. A wave of countless swords is also flying behind him like a swarm of locusts.
Unfazed, Jane points the cannon's mouth at Frelisk. Specifically, the swarm of swords behind him.
[Just aim and shoot. I'll do the rest.]
“Star fall barrage! >”
In an instant, the cannon glows in violet and the cannon barrel changes into six smaller barrels in a cylindrical formation. In short: a mini-gun.
The moment Jane pulls the trigger, the barrels start rotating as the armor starts flying backwards against Frelisk who is coming for them.
And when she presses the second trigger, all hell breaks loose!
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!
Caught by surprise, Frelisk stops midflight as he watch the approaching purple rain of condensed mana bullets. But due to his battle experience, he was able to immediately make another move.
“This is nothing!”
Making the swords behind him warm in front of him and attack Jane, he moves forward with his swords as shield.
But for every bullet Jane shoots, a sword breaks after getting hit once or twice. Due to the large number of swords flying, she doesn't miss a single one.
Jane flies around and shoots, while Frelisk chases her while summoning new swords.
It was like a goose chase in the sky. Their clash of power is so intense that Cherlaine and Matilda couldn't dare to intervene. They know they'll just in Jane's way.
[Preparation is complete, fire at will.]
“Yes sir!”
[‘Dear’ would've been better though.]
“Want me to call you that from now on?”
Even in the midst of battle, Jane and Key were able to calmly flight in front of Frelisk. This angered Frelisk even more.
“Sword of hundred explosions! >”
With the sword glowing in red and black, Frelisk charges to Jane by using some of his swords as footholds.
But on the other hand, Jane seems to have expected that. She makes a cunning grin unfit of her character while aiming for Frelisk.
Preparations were done by Key, all that's left is for Jane to pull the trigger.
[Condensed Charge Loaded. It's up to you Jane.]
“Instant Flash Twilight! >”

Iron and Wood - A Tale Of Empire and Clans
For centuries, the Midlands had been split into fragments. A once glorious, united Empire has become a shadow of its former self. Unity has not returned, and not for the lack of trying. The greatest of these successor states were the Li Dynasty to the south, the rulers of old, and the Emerald Empire to the North, with its vibrant vitality. Unity is the end goal, and both will sacrifice anything to attain this elusive dream. For unity would surely solve the conflict that had long plagued this once prosperous continent. The Ironwood Clan was a prime player. Some would consider them the ones holding the reigns to the horse named 'Unification'. Iron and wood were the backbones of civilization; similarly, the Ironwoods were the backbones of the Northern Empire, and by extension, the people of the Midlands. Their methods, as questionable as they might be, had strengthened the North. Yet, were they enough? In the midst of it all, a young Ironwood who had lost his path must once again find his way. For the sake of his own wellbeing; for the sake of his clan; and for the sake of the Empire and its subjects. However, is he willing to sacrifice for the good of all? Is he willing to condemn some for the sake of others? Is he willing to make the right, albeit harsh, decisions? Only the heavens would know. Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, events and incidents are the products of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. Additionally, any views and beliefs expressed by the characters are not the author's own. The story is also not an endorsement of any actions taken within. The 'profanity' and 'sexual content' warning tags are there to be safe (and to leave room for potential future changes), but for now these two things are not inside this novel. This is my take on 'cultivation', though it might be somewhat disconnected from the general idea of the genre. Release schedule: Two chapters a week. The cover was created using wombo art. While I believe that creations using the app are in the public domain, if that is not the case, I will take it down.
