Ottawa, Canada.
Rene and Marie took off their coats. The boots went on the shoe rack until they dried out and stopped dripping.
Paul was already back at the PS4. They could hear the angry yelling.
"I thought the internet was still out?" Marie asked her son.
"It is. I'm playing offline." Paul never took his eyes off the game.
Marie let it go. Today he gets a pass. "I'm famished." She looked at Rene and wiggled her eyes.
Rene laughed, "You grab a quick shower, and I'll cook something."
"Deal." She smiled in anticipation. Rene was a good cook.
Marie liked pasta a lot. Rene filled a pot of water and add some salt. He waited for the water to come to a boil.
He removed his uniform as the water boiled on the stove. He put on a pair of sweats and went back to the kitchen.
He found Marie's favorite noodles and dropped them into the pot.
He took out a pan and began to prep the sauce. He decided on a white sauce.
He went to the bathroom and after a quick knock, he walked in. "Marie do you want chicken or shrimp with the pasta?"
Marie heard Rene clearly over the shower. 'Magnifique. Enhanced Senses.' She told Rene to go with the chicken. The shrimp was frozen. The chicken breasts she got from the Metro was only a day old.
Rene closed the bathroom door and went back to the kitchen.
He took the chicken out of the fridge and put the package beside the cutting board.
After prepping the ingredients, he started on the sauce. While the sauce was cooking, he took out another pan and got the chicken ready.
When the chicken was done, he added the sauce and let it simmer.
When the noodles were done, he drained the water and dropped the noodles into the saucepan. He covered the pan and lowered the heat and let everything simmer again.
He then called Paul and told him to set the table.

"Let me finish this part and I'll take care of it." Paul continued to play his game.
Rene sighed and let it go. He went to the bathroom and opened the door. "We're just about ready..." Marie was admiring herself in the wall mirror.
She turned around and with a smile that lit up her face she asked, "What do you think?"
Rene was speechless. She took his breath away. "Wow!" Marie giggled. Rene walked in and closed the door behind him. He pulled her to him and kissed her passionately.
Marie matched his passion as she kissed him back. Rene quickly took off his clothes and tried to grab his wife again.
She held up her hand to stop him. "Shower first." She insisted.
Rene gave her a sourpuss but stepped into the shower. He turned on the hot water and let the hot water hit him full force.
While his hair was full of shampoo, he felt a pair of hands at his back.
He smiled but didn't say anything. He should have remembered, Marie liked shower sex.
After fifteen minutes they heard Paul pounding on the door. "Hurry up! I gotta pee!”
Marie and Rene laughed. They quickly rinsed off and left the shower stall. Rene helped Marie dry her body first and then wrapped a towel around her hair, he used a towel to quickly wipe the water on his body.
Marie put on a bathrobe and opened the door. Paul rushed past her and did his went to do his business. "Out!"
Rene and Marie laughed as they left.
"Goddamnit! I hate when they have shower sex." He finished his business and washed up and checked his face in the mirror. It was time for his weekly shave. 'Tomorrow.' He promised himself.
When he rejoined his parents in the dining room, his mother smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you for setting the table, Paul." She gave him a hug and let him go. "Time to eat."

After supper, Paul went back to his game and Rene pulled Marie into the bedroom.
"Now, where were we before we were so rudely interrupted?" He picked her up and swung her around a few times. She laughed and kissed him.
Rene carried her to the bed and started to remove her clothes. She repaid the favor by doing the same for him.
Rene made love to his wife with the same intensity that he remembered when they first met.
When their lovemaking was at its height, Rene got a chat message from the PM.
"Rene is now a bad time? We have an emergency." Rene cursed.
"What's going on? Why did you stop?" Marie was breathing heavily?
"I got a chat from the PM." He growled.
"Now?" She shrieked. "Don't answer!"
"This isn't like a cellphone. This system is always on."
"I don't care. He can wait." She growled. She didn't stop and Rene wasn't about to disappoint his wife. Not even for the Prime Minister.
'Joe. Can you please handle this? I'm going into airplane mode.' Rene then disconnected from the original Xerys System and continued to make love to his wife.

"Jeff? Is Rene's contact greyed out?" Justin asked Jeffrey Reardon.
"I'll check." After a quick status check, Jeff saw that Rene Wilder's contact information was greyed out. "He's greyed out for me too."
Justin Trudeau received a party invite from Joe Wilder. "I'm getting a party invites from Joe Wilder now."
"Me too. Isn't Joe Wilder Rene's AI?" Jeff asked.
"I think you're right." They both accepted.
"Prime Minister Trudeau. Mr. Reardon, how can I help you?" Joe asked.
"We're trying to get a hold of Rene. Another emergency I'm afraid." Justin said seriously. "His Contact is greyed out. What's going on?"
"He's in airplane mode," Joe explained.
"Airplane mode? That's a thing?" The PM asked.
"It is for Rene. How can I help?" Joe asked again?
"Hold on. Why is he in airplane mode?" Justin wasn't about to give up? Being the PM gave him huge perks.
"You really want to know?" Joe hid a small smile.
"Yes." Justin insisted.
"Very well. He was in the middle of making love to his wife when you interrupted. Being a married man with good survival instincts he chose the possible option." Joe explained.
"Oh." Justin wasn't expecting that. "The situation is quite dire. Can you please contact him?" The PM requested.
"I am afraid not sir. No one can reach him at this time. Maybe I can help?" Joe waited for the PM to come to a decision.
It took him a minute, but Justin came to the realization that he had no other choice.
Reluctantly he explained the situation. After he was done, Joe said, "What do you think Rene could do?"
"Are you telling me there's nothing we can do? I won't accept that!" Justin's voice was getting louder and louder.
"No. He could blast the powerplants out of existence. Somehow I don't think that the solution you're looking for." Joe waited for the PM's reaction.
"We need to do something. Or large parts of the planet will soon be radioactive zones." Justin's eyes pleaded with Joe for a solution.
"There is a way." Joe reluctantly explained what he could do.
After Joe was done, Justin agreed with the plan. "Looks like we have no other choice. Can you please add Captain McLean to the party?"
"Certainly sir. One moment please." Joe took a moment to invite McLean.
"Captain McLean we're going to need your help." The PM again explained the emergency and outlined Joe's solution.
"Looks like I'm about to lose a dropship. The UN isn't going to be happy." Richard didn't care. This was a global problem and the UN would need to foot the bill if they want to be taken seriously as a global government.

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to my first attempt at writing a novel. I am preparing to participate in the 2017 NaNoWriMo event so enjoy the first chapter as that's here early only to ensure that I have a place to post once the event starts. This means the first novel/book will have a target of 50,000 words. I'm excited to attempt this challenge despite the hurdles I will have to overcome. I do have a demanding full time job so planning time to write and make weekly releases starting in November will be my biggest challenge. Also, please accept my apologies on my cover. I'm not an artist and the only digital tool available at my disposal is the stock microsoft paint. So I did my best to create a decent cover as I did not want to steal the work of another. If there are those interested by the end of November in donating a new fan made cover then I will look into replacing the old cover.
