《A Mailman as a Superhero》24. The Second Fragment... Aftermath...

Ottawa, Canada...
Captain Richard McLean and party flew over the Ottawa International airport under their own power. Most of them. Lieutenant Andrew Price had to hitch a ride along with Sgt. Petersen. While Petersen could fly. He couldn't keep up with the three Omega flyers capable of flying into space.
Their destination, the Armed Forces base north of the airport. McLean planned to hit up the intelligence officer for information on Rene Wilder's whereabouts.
Rene wasn't responding to chat requests. With Electricity and cell towers still down, he couldn't call, text or email Rene.
"Tell me again Darling, how we are going to find your friend?" Lady Eleanore asked.
Richard was about to shrug, but in the dark, he didn't think she could see that. "I'm hoping someone at the base can help us out."
As the party flew over the base Petersen let go of McLean's hand and flew under his own power. The strongman of the group didn't like being led by the hand, anywhere. "How about we check..."
He stopped at the party looked at the light show going on just northwest of the airport.
"Lightning in a snowstorm?" Lady Eleanore asked.
"That's plasma fire," Petersen added.
"Grab hands." The party flew towards the fight as fast as they could. By the time they arrived over Bertona park, they could see that a war was fought on the churned up ground.
Blast craters everywhere. McLean pointed at the RCMP cruisers on the other side of the park.
"That's a dropship!" He pointed at the hovering spaceship. There were two people in the air fighting against the power armor troopers.
McLean landed beside an RCMP Special Constable, "Captain McLean, CAF. What's going on?"
Before Special Constable Stewart could reply the hovering dropship opened up and fired a bombardment at the humans in the Park.

That's when the plainclothes officer next to Stewart yelled, "Rene take it out."
A man who had his back to McLean pointed his hands at the dropship and the energy blast he used vaporized the dropship. The plasma projectile exited the atmosphere and McLean's senses could see it travel past the moon and exploded with such power that the released energy could be seen by anyone looking up at the night sky.
"What do you want to bet that we just found your friend pet?" Lady Eleanore smiled at McLean's stunned reaction.
"Who are you, people?" The plainclothes man asked.
A lightning clad man flew down to join them. "I got another alien uncle Pierre." The young man noticed McLean's party, "Who are they?"
"That's what I wanna know. Who are you, people?" Before McLean could say anything, the man ignored them, he turned to the Special Constable and ordered, "I don't care. Jack find out what these people are doing in my area of operation."
He walked away with the young man beside him.
"Captain McLean eh. What are you doing here?"
McLean answered the question with a question of his own. "Who's that?"
The RCMP officer checked McLean's uniform and shrugged. "That there is Commander Pierre Wilder with his nephew and brother. I saw you fly in a try to help out Captain McLean. Thank you for your assistance. But what brings the CAF..." Jack Stewart noticed that the beautiful woman had a British uniform and the young man picking at the trapped alien was wearing a US uniform. "You guys are a regular United Nations kinda bunch."
Lady Eleanore laughed, all the excitement was over and it looked like they located a Rene Wilder after all.

Sgt. Petersen walked over and shook Stewart's hand, "Sgt. Petersen, and yeah we're with a United Nations unit assigned to the current crisis."
McLean took the opportunity Jamie bought him to go after the Wilder's.
That's when a black blob rose from the ground and took the form of a man.
McLean was about to blast the alien before it could attack, but the man they came to see turned around and said, "Don't Ritchie. He's mine."
The black blob reformed into a black android copy of Rene.
"The surprises of this day never end darling."
"Scan for hidden targets." Rene was out for blood. With AI-Rene's help, he didn't have to reveal all his cards.
"Ritchie, what are you doing here?" McLean was still gawking at the android copy of Rene.
"Captain Eleanore Hastings." She extended her hand to shake.
Rene shook the hand, "I do just fine, and you?" Rene wasn't paying attention to the uninformed woman. His Spacial Awareness told him there were two more aliens about.
"Captain McLean. I am Second Strike Group Leader Ae'url." An alien in a power armor appeared across from McLean.
Beside her, a red-headed Elf dropped her invisibility.
"Whoa. I didn't know there were space elves involved dad."
Pierre Wilder laughed, "Seriously JP? That's what you boil this experience down to. Space babes."
