《Game On!》v2 Chapter 2 - Nerufeim : Part 1

The outburst of scenic view spread wide into my field of vision. The blinding light shone as the sun reaches its zenith. Fabulouse was running around with unfathomable speed as we were reaching the town. After 1 week of prestige transfer, Fabulouse had finally gotten himself +1 prestige thus changing his alignment from dark to light. He is now able to enter towns and neutral area without getting hunted down.
The average of our levels is 120. However, Fabulouse is lagging behind us by 20 levels. Looks like we need to grind for level again, not that I’m not used to it though. Also, it looks like Clarissa is starting to get used to fighting against a lot of opponent at once. She had gained a new skill when she reached level 100.
It’s an active skill that ensnares a multiple target at once, and absorbs their health and mana. It cut down the time for us grinding and killing our opponents.
Since the fight in Verlassen Island I was not able to use neither my Dice nor Cards. I drew a pair and a lot more winning combination that I will surely become a millionaire in a day in if I were to play at Las Vegas. But there’s nothing happened. I wonder if this had something to do with side effect of uplifting the first few restrictions that had been put on human like what had happened to my Phantom Step.
We went on our separate ways. Hye Yoon and Yoon Jae, I don’t know where they had gone to, but Clarissa said that she’s going to do a quick quest to increase her prestige. On the side note, she’s going to investigate more about ‘human’ history from the NPCs. For some odd reason, Fabulouse had been following me wherever I went.
For me, on the other hand went to the general store and sell all my loots. I still had the appearance of an Elf; I’m starting to like how I looked now. The general store really sells a lot general items; I went about the perimeters and found myself a mirror. Inspecting it carefully I put my index finger on the mirror. Reflected before the thin glass was an image of an Elf with short and wavy dark hair and wearing a brownish colored armor.
“You sexy bastard…” my voice escaped as I looked at the mirror.
Fabulouse however, was trying to smooth talk the general store attendant, needlessly to say the attended is a female.
“Are you a monkey? I can be your banana…”
PAM!
Well, he got a nice red mark of palm on his cheek in reply. It could be worst. If it were my sisters, he would at least get 3 straight punches, 1 sharp jab hit and 5 spinning kicks. It could be way worse; their technique will reach Phase 2 Nightmare if they are on period.
With that said I went to the Blacksmith and got some of the damaged item dismantled for their core materials. I have yet to reach Phase 2 in Blacksmithing so I don’t have the ability to dismantle items yet.
After a few hours passed, we grouped back together.
We continued on our journey to Nerufeim without doing any quests at towns that we visited. I want to finish the second Gospel quest fast and find out the next restrictions that going to be lifted. I can no longer use my Dice and Deck of cards, and I finally know why. My profession was changed, though I can’t say it for sure, but what had been listed in my character profile is no longer Gambler. It is Hunter – the profession that Allison and Grant had had.
I have a very complicated feeling about this. A sudden profession change without any notice is like changing from vanguard to support with no prior plan and having someone screams ‘LEEEROOOOYYY JENNKINNSSS!!” at you. I mean, seriously? It’s not like I hate being a Hunter, considering the type of skills that I had learned at Verlassen Island, not to mention the stat build that I had ever since I stopped investing luck into my stat. But… Urgh!
I asked Clarissa about this when I got back from the Smithy. Apparently when I reached level 100, I can have another sub-profession or to call it with a lot more familiar word, sub-class. However in my case, Hunter has become my main class and Gambler has become my sub-class.
Like the change in Phantom Step that does not need any mana to be activated and now affected by satiety instead, human seemed to have their sub-class skill restricted.
We leave the quests in town behind for the time being, until I obtained the second Gospel and lift the restriction that bans me from using my sub-class’s skill. I won’t be doing any minor quests.
We reached the town but left for another. On our travel, with the same formation that we had planned before hand, we eliminate any obstacle that obstructs our way. We slashed through the odds, we pierced through the wall of trouble and we killed the sinister, we were bathed by blood and dyed with redemption of red.
“Kill them!!”
“Take their belonging!”
“KIIILLLLL!!!!”
“Bewb is where dreams and hopes dwells within!!!”
“BURRNNN!!!!”
Wild screams of bandits that tried to rob us off our possession were heard throughout the night forest. We were surrounded and outnumbered, however the bandit’s greed can never surpassed mine. My thirst for money in gambling is far greater than them; I mustered my energy in both of my legs. I rushed forward, pulled out my dagger and slash and split the bandits’ body into two.
I activated my Phantom Step and killed the bandits on sight. Having invested my stat into agility and dexterity, I managed to land where I wanted to land. I pushed my dagger on the bandit’s nape and blood smears on my dagger.
Ignoring the brutal sight that was in front of me, I kicked the ground and launched my body upwards simultaneously activating my instantaneous movement. I channeled my mana into my left leg while I was in the mid-air and executed a triple spin kick that I learned from Yoon Jae and activated as I reached the ground.
The grounds were shattered and one large crater was created. Impact of shockwaves could be seen expanding from a circle of air into violent waves of wind and left the bandits stunned for a few seconds. Using the opportunity, Yoon Jae, Hye Yoon and Fabulouse dashed into action.
My did not deal a great damage, however the ability to stun opponent about 25 meters radius is very helpful. Fabulouse, being very agile is a great DPS dealer. Yoon Jae on the other hand had started to mind about his defense, even though the change was not visible. But certainly the difference could be felt, as Clarissa did not have to keep spamming her healing skill on Yoon Jae and started to buff our stat instead.
The bandits by any mean are not weak. They are as strong as they can be, however their strength are not comparable to my skills that I had learn and utilized at every chances that I got.
We finally reached our fifth town when we decided to take a little rest. At every town we had stopped for only a few hours, however we planned to spend the night at this town, Kaingaran Town.

The village that appeared to be dead was getting nearer as we’re entering the main gate. There was no life, no laughter nor liveliness that could be seen at the town outskirt. Much different from the Towns that we had visited before, the air in this Kaingaran Town was terribly different that it looked so out of place.
I told the others to look out for the carriage while I went for a scout. I entered a bar; the sound of armored players gulping down beers as the NPC serves the drinks happily was not seen. What I had found was the opposite of it, an old man that looked like he’s in his sixties wearing a rugged clothes were seen wiping the tables with a dead fish eyes.
I came forward and asked a question.
“What happened to this town?” I asked.
“Town? It has been a long time since the last time people call this place as town. This place is nothing but a haunted village. You better leave this place fast if you still love your life.” The old man replied with a low tone, his old and wrinkled face was looking at me with no energy embedded in his eyes.
“Can you explain to me what happened?” I asked, “And add 1 glass of beer to that.” I added.
“Well, you might be my last customer…” The old man said and placed one glass of beer that was filled with bubbles as topping in front of me, “This is on the house.” He added.
He took a seat comfortably in facing against me.
“It was half a year ago. This place was once a beautiful town, abundant with lives, laughter and vigor. Children could be seen running around the area with a big smile on their face, adventurers with dreams and hopes filled the bar while telling their adventurous story.
We got the economy running and good. We are becoming closer to achieving the status as a city. However everything changed when the Faries race attacked. Our children and woman were abducted and our man was killed.
The adventurer had fought to the end of their lives; however the Faries are not a race to be taken light of. Their magic is on another level; a mere human adventurer cannot hope to defeats the Faries. A lot of adventurer had offered their help to bring the life back to Kaingaran Town. But it was to no avail.
We also had asked adventurer of another race, but none of them dared to fight the Faries for Faries are being of another world. They lived in the forbidden land of Nerufeim. The Sea is violent and the sea demons are terrifying. Unable to bear the thought of a hard journey that awaits them; they dropped out even before they started.” The old man said solemnly.
I couldn’t help but think that this incident has something to do with the glitch. In response I said, “It saddens me that no one was willing to bring judgment towards those filth of Faries. This should not be left alone; it left a bad taste in my mouth when I think about those poor children and woman. Please! Allow me to help you!”
Sudden gleam of light was seen in the old man eyes. His lips were trembling as he tried to give me his words of gratitude. However I grab hold of the old man’s hand and rest him assured. “There is no need to worry; it is natural thing for me to do. We are a fellow human are we not?” I added.
Tears of happiness flowed down from the Old Man's eyes and he was mumbling words that do not seems to be understand. I only nodded and gave him my words. NPCs as they may be, I couldn’t help but think that they are real human beings, never in my life had I seen such genuine tears flow down from the feeling of gratitude.
“P-please help me free my townspeople… I will give you the last treasure that I had for reward.” The Old Man said.
“Leave it to me.” I answered firmly.
Ttring!
You have accepted the quest!
The townspeople of Kaingaran Town had been abducted. The Faries dark nature had made them one of the strongest race in Supernatural. Living in the land of Supernatural that was void of human. They had abducted the children and woman of Kaingaran Town to serve them.
The Town’s Mayor Melilik had offered a great reward for the release of his townspeople; however none dared to take the offer. Even if there was, they are no adventurer but con artist.
Objective: You are a brave warrior that had sought to help the need. Free the Kaingaran’s townspeople and sent them back to Kaingaran Town safetly.
Restriction : Human Only.
Difficulty Level : B++
Reward : A precious heirloom of Melilik Mayor that had been passed down for generations.
I swallowed hard. The difficulty level is B. But I’m not afraid though. I now have companions that can look out for my back and I have enough battle experience. Though I can’t say much for strategy, not everybody can become Zhuge Liang and win gloriously using strategy alone right? Our party is a lot more like kill the bill type.
I sent a private message to Clarissa asking them to come over and accept the same quest that I did.
“Let me become your sword, Sire. I’ve heard the story and I wanted to help.” (Yoon Jae)
“I want to help too.” (Hye Yoon)
“Please let me help you. The atrocities that had been done by those Faries are no something to let off unpunished!” (Clarissa)
“Those Faries again, HAH! Looks like I’ll be sweeping the floors with their wings.” (Fabulouse)
We bid our farewell and began sorting out our strategies. We extracted as many
information that we can get from the Old Man, and combined it with Fabulouse information. Apparently the Faries are very racist and proud being of their self. They demand to be respected and to be served under, they are the rule and the rule is them. They also love to use others to do their bidding and they are extremely ugly (?)
Or at least, from what I heard, Fabulouse said those Faries are extremely ugly.
We decided to go to the nearest maritime town and depart to Nerufeim Continent. From what I’ve heard from Yoon Jae, Nerufeim Continent is one of the most dangerous places in Einstel World. No one had dared to explore the place yet as the average level of the monster would be level 250.
I know that it would be suicide if we were to go without any sort of plan. Thus we decided to level up as much as we can while fighting the sea monsters where I can use my God Slayer’s Title bonuses to its fullest.
We reached the nearest maritime town called Feig Town. Without any further ado, we went to the Adventurer Hall in search for information for ship that is willing to travel to Nerufeim. Much to our dismay, there are no ships that were willing to do so. Left with no luck I went into the Bar and start asking the Master for any clues about Nerufeim.
“Nerufeim?” asked the Master while looking at me with one of his eyes closed.
“Yes.” I replied with no hesitation.
The rowdy and noisy bar fall into silence as the mention of Nerufeim was heard. I can feel the glares from the other adventurer stabbing at me from every direction. Nevertheless I ignored the glares and only focus on the Bar’s Master.
“I don’t know if it’s either you are too brave or you just too dumb… Just go home before you get hurt.” The Master added.
“I’m running on a mission, I need to save the people of Kaingaran’s Town. I had made my promise with the Mayor and I don’t think I can ever betray the promise that I had made with him. Please let me know if you have any clues about ships that are willing to transport us to Nerufeim.” I said.
“I’m sorry young man. We all know about the unfortunate event that had happened to Kaingaran Town. However, that was an event which they had triggered themselves. You are just a travelling adventurer; you have nothing to do with them. I admire your kind soul, so I’m going to say this clearly and bluntly. If you do not wish to meet your end early, don’t even think of going to Nerufeim.
Do you know why no one had managed to step into Nerufeim yet? The answer is simple. It was due to the weather. There are 3 gigantic whirlpools that surrounded Nerufeim; this had cause a great current speed that went about the Island. Forget about getting killed by the Faries, no one had ever managed to pass through the whirlpools’.
I’m telling you this out of goodwill. It is not too late to stop from going to Nerufeim. The Supernatural there are irregular, they are nothing like what you had seen here in the mainland of Esphalt. They are too strong to be called as monster, they are demons!” The Master told me with his voice shaking while looking at me directly at my eye balls.
“I am willing to sacrifice my life if it’s for good…”
As I know that probing further won’t give me any good. I decided to take my leave. Honestly, I don’t mind dying. Well it is really hurt because I can feel 100% of the real pain directly sent to my brain, but I will only lose 25% of my exp. It’s not like I will lose a level.
Having no luck in my search, I gave Clarissa and the others a message.
The three of them have no luck either. I didn’t send any message to Fabulouse as we left him with the duty to take care of our carriage. First thing first, I decided to resupply my potions and foods before I went back to the carriage.
By the time I got back to the Carriage, all of them had already arrived before me. However there is an addition to the group. It was a middle aged man wearing a full Navy Outfit. He introduced himself as Taiv.
Taiv was a Pirate Captain. However due to an unforeseen circumstances he had found his enlightenment and went from being a Pirate to Navy. Because he had quite the same story as Fabulouse they had become close and he is willing to lend us his old Pirate Ship which he had left unattended at the harbor.
Rather than lend, we are exchanging it for the carriage that we had. I found it quite hard for me to trade it in because the Carriage was made out of the good will from Beginner Town’s townspeople. But I traded it off anyway. Better than having nothing.
It took us 3 days to fix the ship that long has been abandoned. We are in need for a navigator, but there was no one that willing to throw away their lives for other’s sake. What can I say, typical of us human.
I asked Clarissa and the others if they know anything about navigation. However they are as just as clueless as me.
We’re doomed!
I went to the Adventurer Hall and ask for direction to the Library. Unfortunately there are no libraries in this place. Wait, what makes me think that there are library in the first place anyway?
Having no other option, I logged out from Einstel Online. Once again after so many days, my finger danced brilliantly on the keyboard looking for a quick guide for navigation. But what can I say, my mind tends to slip away when I surf the internet. I don’t even know what I was doing and 3 hours had already passed. In the end, with a mountain full of navigation knowledge that I had learned from 1Pis, we continued on our journey to Nerufeim Continent.
It’s a joke. It looks like during the time we all went on our way to find for a navigator, Fabulouse had asked Taiv to teach him the basic of navigation and wind reading. Seriously, is there anything that Fabulouse couldn't do?
With everything ready, we set sail to Nerufeim!

Ichiroku and Clarissa had finished all the quest in beginner town, and they had fought a lot of monsters during the 1 month travel forth and back from Tidal Harbour to Beginner town and back to Tindal harbour (Including the 1 week time that day stayed at beginner town).
Ichiroku who was already level 63 when he first met Clarissa, had level up to lvl 90++, not to mention that they had also finished their first Dungeon his level jumped to 110++ and finally they travelled through more than 4 towns and fought valiantly against wild monsters, bandits they gained level quite fast.
That explains the reasons why they had leveled up quite fast.

As I said that I'll increase the pace. I literately done so by cutting short the details. But if some of you still like the slow pace and easy going way, I can try to balance the pacing.

Statless
Summary Alexander Weiss, an intelligent and slightly unusual man, always dreamt of becoming a mage. Sadly, reality is harsh and even his best efforts never allowed him to achieve his goal during his lifetime... or did they? One has to be careful what they wish for, lest they might live to see it fulfilled. Description Follow Alex, a man whose pursuit of magic could not even be stopped by his non-magical reality, going as far as to create it himself, only to encounter an unsurmountable obstacle shortly before achieving his lifes goal, denying him all access to these powers. His journey will take him through a miraculous world, full of wonders, magic and manic beasts trying to devour him! He will learn much about this world during his adventures, exploring individual aspects of the System and the various monsters that came from it... or did they? Strong points What you'll get from this novel is the following (read with overly enthusiastic salesman-voice) : • An ending! I'll complete it, no matter what. Well, not "no matter what", but as long as I don't unexpectedly end, this novel won't either! • Good grammar! Might not be perfect, but it's definitely good enough to not detract from the story in the slightest. I'll also fix any reported mistakes as soon as possible, be they grammatical, syntactical or just inconsistencies. • No plot-armor! Or plot-weapons! Or plot-... potions? And no plot-holes! If you see some, it's most likely information that is being witheld for future revelations! But in the (hopefully) very unlikely case of such a vile beast being encountered, please inform me immediately and I'll see to slaying it without grace! (Translation: If you see plot-holes, tell me and I'll fix them) • Logic! [Hidden : Spoilers][Hidden : More Spoilers] [Moved to Chapter [Hidden Spoiler]'s Author's Note] Marvelous, I know! • Blue Boxes! And maybe something more! • Sensible retroactive edits! Not to be confused with radioactive edits! You'll not have to re-read previous chapters, even if they get some major edits. If they were to receive new information, I'll add that very information to the newly released chapters too, in a reasonable way. • Realism! Shocking, I know! Especially considering the tag related to that and the point about "Logic!". This also means that the story will be... well, realistically depicting a pretty messed up world. Don't expect bunnies... at least not cute ones. • Relatively faster paced! No long and boring descriptions of irrelevant stuff. There will be some longer descriptions about important things, but that's gonna be necessary world- and/or character-building! • Short action! Might not be a plus for some, but you won't have to look at a whole (or, god forbit, multiple) chapter describing a fight against the same enemy... • Strategy and hard progression! It's a dog-eat-dog world! No grinding/power-creep! If you're up against three enemies of your level at once, you've already lost! • Understanding! It will be mostly about discovering the wonders of this new world and how it became like that, all while trying to survive. So there will be enough action nonetheless! • Humor! Sometimes dark, sometimes light, always at the worst moment! • Constructive critics, welcome! Destructive critics, nope... I can handle criticism though, so don't go easy on me! Just make sure it's really a mistake when complaining about something. • Will add more in the future! If I can think of more stuff...
