《Paravir》Chapter 4

A few hours passed since Norin woke up and reunited with his sister, Liz. After the doctor left, they decided to go home, and on their way, Liz explained how the world had changed while Norin was in a coma and that he was already 23 years. They walked for over an hour until they got home. Liz had a small apartment with a bathroom and a small living room, where there was a bed and a couch, a table, a chair, and a smaller wardrobe. The bed and the couch were on two opposite sides of the room, the wardrobe was right next to the door, so it couldn't be opened fully, because it hit the side of the furniture. On the last side of the room was a window, under it a battered heater and the table and the chair next to it. Everything was in poor condition but served its purpose. Liz pushed Norin next to the table and said hurriedly," Unfortunately, I have no food at home, but I will run to the store and buy something for us to eat. I will be right back." Then she quickly left the apartment, leaving Norin alone, who was just looking out the window.
As he was spacing out, suddenly a window pooped in front of his eyes out of the blue saying, "incubation completed", vanished but was followed by another one, "Wellcome, new host, Norin Luhf!". Norin shook his head after the second message disappeared, but a third one followed right after, "Reparation of body initiated", suddenly without warning, Norin's body cracked loudly, and he felt such a pain that no sound came out of his mouth, and his eyes were filled with tears. "Reparation finished", another message popped up, and all the pain ceased to exist in a snap of a finger." This is some sort of illusion, or hallucination, right?" asked Norin and instantly got another interface, but this was different. This one seemed like a character sheet, "Name: Norin Luhf; Level:1 0%; Points: 0; Strength: 2; Endurance: 5; Perception: 3; Agility:1; Intelligence: 12 Virus C:1+1; Skills: Virus 0 "; after seeing this new interface Norin was so surprised taht he stood up and fell over his chair just before the door of the apartment opened, and his sister walked in. She was holding two white bags, but the moment she saw her brother on the ground, she dropped them and rushed over to him and asked, "Brother, what happened?!" without thinking for a second, she sat the chair up and lifted her brother up and put him back into the chair who was relatively surprised. "Erm... am I seeing things?" asked Norin; Liz replied instantly, "Yeah... my work requires me to be in good condition, so I do work out but don't worry, I can protect myself and you as well!" then walked back to the bags and brought them to the table. "I was talking about the interface, not really about lifting me up, but now that I think about that is truly surprising," thought Norim while Liz walked away to pick the bags up.

Each bag contained a large burger, and the two of them started eating, Norin was quiet and was staring at the table, and his sister was looking at him. She was worried about him because she thought he was feeling unwell. Still, in reality, Norin was staring at the interface in front of him and was focused mainly on his level and its percentage because it slowly increased as he was eating. After finishing his burger, faster than Liz, his progress changed from 0 to 1.74%. "Could I be one of those infected people who have some sort of ability? Could these stats truly influence me physically?" thought Norin, but then after Liz finished eating as well, Noirn said, "Sis, I am curious. Would you mind having an arm wrestling match with me?" Liz was startled by the question and curiously stared back at her brother and commented, "Brother, are you sure? You slept for three years also. I am training regularly; I don't think that would be fair, but if you really want to, of course." Liz and Noirn got ready, and Liz added, "Bro, you can start whenever you want; let me give you this much handicap." Norin smiled and nodded, applied some pressure onto Liz's hand and started pushing. Liz was quite surprised at that and instantly started pushing as well. She was able to push Norin's arm back to the starting position but could no longer push, so she started to use more and more strength, but Noirn did the same. Norin was staring into Liz's light green eyes and was slowly being overpowered, and the match ended with a victory for Liz. "Bro, you are much stronger than I thought", Congratulated Liz and added, "But unfortunately, I have to go to work now but don't worry, I will be back in about two hours! Here's a sheet of paper and a pencil; please write down a few things you'd like to buy; I will get it done after I get back. Unfortunately, I have no TV, but please use my phone to entertain yourself; I have an emergency phone with me, so please call it if anything happens!" Liz put her phone on the table and rushed to the door, where she waved back at Norin and then left.

"So that number, percentage, progress, whatever that is called, changes when I eat or do some physical activity?! It is now at 3.26%. Also, what could this skill called Virus be? I heard that there is at least one fly in the apartment; maybe I could test the skill on it if it really is reality. Also, how do I close this interface? I can see through it, but it is still annoying because it still blocks my vision partly." mumbled Norin to himself minutes after his sister left. He slowly stood up and was seemingly surprised because he could stand up. He started looking around the room until he found the fly he was hearing and somehow was able to follow its movement. He waited patiently until the fly stopped flying and landed on the wall. He walked quietly but swiftly closer to the fly and caught it easily before it could have reacted. "And now what do I do to test if that skill is real? Do I just imagine it?" Asked Norin from himself, and as he was thinking about it, a green mist came from his closed fist, and soon other messages appeared and vanished quickly after, "Notice! Skill, Virus, was used!", "Notice! New species were discovered!", "Notice! Count down begun!", "10 days 5 hours 35 minutes 12 seconds left! ".

Magriculture (Rewrite)
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, an occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will. Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.
