《The Monkey God》Chapter 6 : History of the Sun village

By the time Drake opened his eyes again, it was already evening. He looked around, but he was all alone. They were probably waiting for him outside or at the monolith. But he didn't mind. He was enjoying the quietness, so he decided to lie down on the bed a bit more and ponder about what happened so far after his last reincarnation.

'According to what I've heard from my father, this body should have a lot of potential. Therefore, that God fulfilled his end of the soul contract. Now it is up to me to grow powerful enough.'

Suddenly Drake recalled a piece of information from his previous life.

'Wait... Wasn't Sun Wukong a character from Chinese mythology that was a monkey as well? But I am in another world, so it is probably just a coincidence.

However, if it is not a coincidence since reincarnation and other worlds are both real, there is a high chance to have some of his powers from the story. Knowing this should help me grow my powers faster.

Anyway, my doubts should be cleared after I learn more about the history of my current race."

Shaking his head to clear the unnecessary thoughts, he stood up from the bed and walk to the door since the village's event should start soon. The moment he stepped out he saw his mother rushing to him so they can walk together to the monolith.

"You are right on time, little one, I was about to come and wake you up." Said Gillian. "Almost everyone has already gathered around the village centre. Only we and some of the older ones are missing."

Gillian grabbed his hand and pulled him a bit to move faster towards the monolith. As soon as they arrived Drake saw his father standing right in front of the monolith while the rest of the villagers were sitting down cross-legged facing him. In the place where the four warriors had sat down during the test, now four lighted up bamboo torches have been placed.

Drake threw his gaze to the villagers, and he realised that without sufficient light, you could hardly distinguish who is who. The only one who was standing out from them was the young one that he took the test with. The young monkey was sitting in front of the villagers, but instead of sitting cross-legged, he was sitting on its knees. Drake realised he would probably have to sit beside him on his knees as well.

"Little one, do you see the girl you took the test with? Go and sit beside her on your knees facing your father. Today you two are having the honour of standing closer to the monolith." Whispered Gillian.

'She's a she? I thought she was a boy all this time,' thought Drake while moving closer to his position.

As he was sitting down, he noticed that most of the eyes of the villagers were on him but he paid no more heed.

As soon as he sat down his father's voice sounded addressing the whole village.

"Fellow villagers, tonight we have the honour of welcoming two new members in our village. Both of them passed the soul test, so they are ready to learn our communication method. From tomorrow we will be teaching them our technique so they will finally be worthy of choosing their own names." Darth shouted.

Immediately the villagers erupted in cheers and started jumping around patting the two youngsters in the back as if congratulating them.

'Why is everyone celebrating for two monkeys reaching one year old. This should be the normal no?' Drake startled.

Darth raised his hands and waited for the commotion to quiet down. As soon as it did, he continued.

"I can see that both the young ones are shocked by our celebration. But there is a very good reason for that.

LITTLES ONES!!" Shouted Darth, making everyone tense.

"Pay attention to what I am about to say, engrave it deep in your memory and never forget it.

We, the golden-haired monkeys are a race of direct descendants from the great sage Sun Wukong.

He was the one who started as a monkey beast with nothing different than the rest and trained his way to the top, giving hope to all the beasts that they can achieve anything with hard work and strong will.

He was the one who gave hope to all the beasts that were enslaved by the despicable humans when he fought against the enslavement and destroyed the mental shackles that made us believe we were inferior to them. He taught us to fight for our freedom.

He is the one who caused havoc to the heavens and forced them to recognise him by reaching godhood, proving to everyone that as long as you deserve it you will be recognised and anyone can attain godhood with hard work.

He was also the one who got tricked and died at the end from the rest of the gods because they thought godhood should be hereditary and they thought he was nothing more than a mad beast."

While Darth was making his speech, not a sound could be heard by the crowd around him. Their attention and was solely focused on him.

"During his travels, he had mated with another monkey beast leaving descendants behind. But after being tricked, the other gods made their believers in our world to hunt them down. Except one of his sons was too strong for the humans to kill. They used a god's relic to banish him and seal him along with his family in a remote area. This is now being called the Sun village, and it is our village.

After some time passed, our ancestors found a way to weaken the seal so they will be able to go out of it for a few hours every week to hunt for food. Unfortunately, a being that sets foot inside the seal array is being marked by it and can't spend more than a day outside otherwise his soul will explode. The way for the seal to be weakened is our strongest warrior to expend his life force constantly.

But we are not without hope. As long as someone from the outside undoes the seal, or we destroy the monolith, we will be free. Sadly, nobody has managed to do that until now.

Sun Wukong taught us to live without losing hope and fight for our freedom, and that is what we would do. Everybody in this village is training daily to become powerful enough to escape the fate that the humans forced upon us.

From the moment we have been sealed, thousands of years have passed, so we have no idea of the outside situation. We found a traveller on the brink of death some years ago, and he had no idea who we are, but he died soon after before we get the chance to ask him details about the outside world.

The world has probably forgotten about us, but we will not rest until we regain our freedom. It is our right and the duty that runs in our blood.

That is our history youngsters, and that is a reason for the bloodlust we all have. Our bloodlust is the manifestation of the hate against the trickery of the gods. It is the manifestation against the injustice that rules this world and the heavens. One day, one of us will be able to restore the justice in the world and take the place in the heavens that is rightfully ours."

The whole time that Darth was speaking the only sounds that could be heard were sounds of sobbing and crying every now and then from the villagers. But as soon as Darth finished speaking everybody in the village was excluding some bloodlust making the atmosphere extremely heavy. They were all angry by the injustice their species suffered.

But Drake had other thoughts...

'Holy shit, this history is remarkably similar with my past. Both of us have been tricked and suffered injustice from the gods. Is it actually possible to be fate? But it can't be, my reincarnation was planned by that other god... Was it on purpose or was it indeed fate? I should ask him the next time I meet him.

The good news is that my plans coincide with them. We have the same target, so if I can help this village without hindering me too much, I might as well do it. They will give me a way to grow powerful with their techniques anyway.'

But as soon as he finished thinking these, he noticed the bloodlust that was in the air. Strangely, he didn't think the atmosphere was heavy; he felt it was comfortable. Extremely comfortable.

ba-bump...ba-bump...

His heart starting beating faster and faster. Drake was feeling an indescribable excitement rising from every inch of his body. It felt like his body was screaming with excitement. His eyes along with his vision started turning red.

BA-BUMP...BA-BUMP...

He looked to the sky and let out a long rawr. The sky seemed to turn blood red, and everything around him changed. The villagers were replaced with millions of soldiers fighting. Blood was splattering all around, and Drake stood there, in the middle of a battlefield wearing a black bandana on his head, full body-no sleeved black leather armour reaching to his knees and he was holding a gold staff filled with engravings...
