Seeing that this isn't going anywhere Jay chooses speak first.

"How did you know? I took plenty of precaution!"

At his serious questioning and agitated look, Charlotte just giggles.

"Your guess ~ maybe I'm a wizard~"

Jay face turn stiff with his mind processing this information before shaking his head.

"No you are not, the only wizard is the Masters of the Mystic Arts, and they are proficient at space time magic but not that good at reading people mind."

Toward his serious answer Charlotte surprise, hesitantly question.

"You're... not lying?"

Jay just nod.

"So you a psychic?"

"I don't know either"

Shrugging, Charlotte tells about her ability.

"When i was a kid in France, my family got in a car crash, i was injured in the head and then i gain the ability to see and hear thing that other can't..."

Charlotte stops looking up at her boyfriend Jay, only to see him listening very carefully without any emotion fluctuation.

"... I can hear other people thought, not as a whole but just some bit and piece of what they are thinking. Because of this i was bully when i read others mind and so my family decided to move to the US, that when i met you."

Finishing Charlotte nervously wait to see what reaction would Jay show, Distrust? Repulsive? Just like other has treated her when she read theirs mind?

But to her surprise she only sees some curiosity, amazement and... Hunger?

Ignoring her shocked and weird look, Jay was thinking very seriously.

'Can i get a superpower if i get in a car crash?'

Such thought flash through his mind, other superhero has gained their power in a car accident, like Jessica Jones.

"Well, I'm a bit hungry now, wanna grab something to eat first?"

The energy consumption of changing his gene has caused him to feel like he has not eaten for several days.

Standing up to get his phone and ordering several pizzas. After he finishes ordering, Charlotte speaks up.

“About the hostage incident... "

Jay stiffened; he was worry about this, not knowing how to explain about why he needs the money.

Said the truth? That i am someone from a different world that travel here and got a system that need money to trade for superpower?

He didn't worry about she knowing the system through mind reading cause it already said that no one can know about it nature without his consent. And anyone that does learn of it will be alert to him by the system.

But even if he told the truth it would be lucky if he didn't get sent to a psychiatric hospital!

Not knowing about his inner thought, Charlotte selfishly starts to talk.

"... I won't ask you to talk about everything, but..."

Jay attentively listens to her word.

"... Remember to keep yourself safe."

Taken back, Jay absent-mindedly nods. After some thought he hesitantly ask.

"You won’t ask why?"

Charlotte shakes her head.

"I trust you and everyone have their own secret that something that i know more than anyone else, just don't hurt anyone innocent if possible"

After some thought, Jay seriously nod.
