The sharpened shovel came down like the wrath of God. It was moving with such speed and force that Jessica could have sworn she saw a wind cone form around the head of the improvised axe.

When the weapon impacted on the spearman's raised bracer the resulting impact created a wave of force that Jessica felt as a light breeze from where she was hovering above the dual. When her vision cleared Jessica found Max on the ground, a spear sticking through his gut but still alive.

The spearman's arm was a bloody mess, his thick leather bracer gone under the wash of his own blood. But he stood triumphant over Max as his arm began to heal. He spoke and his voice seemed to come from right next to jessica.
