《AARON: THE ARCHE》CHAPTER 8 - Not Quietly into that Good Night

The quiet bubble of the slumbering Seraph was burst open, an ethereal warm glow nearly blinding him as he became aware of the senseless time and undefined space of his mind. He has awoken within a dream to find himself confoundingly dizzy and sick - an odd sensation for one to have, felt in body, while lucid dreaming.
The cause of the nausea became glaringly obvious as the pirouetting flaming rings, dotted with wings and eyes, terrifying in presence, glowered at the Seraph from high on above. Uriel’s many eyes flickered in multicolored spectral shows of light, colors that mortal eyes were not meant to see.
“Jonah had not felt the ocean’s gait for some two weeks before God visited him. I gave you only two days. You get no more time.”
“I am not subject to the whim of a false prophet, never mind the knock-off grinding wheel whom supposedly had a hand in trying to deliver the souls of said prophets to annihilation.” Hoffmann replied in fire. He had little patience for this.
Uriel’s rings flared and spun rapidly.
“It is simple, Nathaniel. You shall either do as we plead, or you will plead for your life while we atomize you from the cosmos. I shall put it in terms a human-lived such as yourself will understand; You work for-.”
“Try it. There is nothing you can do to me because you need me. That’s why you waited to see if I would crack, right? You’re dealing with - no no, let me finish, I don’t think you really get what is going on here. You’re dealing with an old man in a profession where men die young and clean of mind. I have a mind of grunge and mud and iron soot in the lungs, and I have fought a war on every continent, shot a bullet at every color of uniform and put my blade to work making widows of weeping wives for centuries. I do not have the power to remove you from the equation, yet, but if you continue to trouble me, you will no longer be a factor, even if I have to die in the process.

You need me. I am your salvation, or I am your ruination. Pick one. Its your move. But whatever decision you make, make it now and don’t look back. I want to get some fucking sleep tonight, and if you decide I should sleep forever, let me know so I can plan my morning around raiding churches and BURNING THEM TO THE FUCKING GROUND!”
Uriel’s rings halted in place as the many eyes went dead and cold, regarding the crumb of humanity below him. His voice ethereally echoed about them as Hoffmann felt warm blood sink into his boots, the smell permeating his nose. The voice that met his ears rumbled coldly. The white expanse has become an ocean of putrid blood.
“So be it...human. You will be done in as Job, coming up short everywhere you go. You cannot be twisted, but you shall be defamed, always seeking friends and finding enemies. Your life shall become your own Hell, and it was of your choosing.”
“Really? Because according to you it was never my choice to begin with. You said that the first time around. Had a change of heart, did we?”

Art of Mortality
New Synopsis after chapter 56: Long long ago, there was a mortal who despised the gods and envied the immortals. Why do the mortals have to die when the gods wish them to? Why do worlds have to perish when the gods say so? Why do only immortals get to live forever, why not mortals like him? As his family, friends, and his loved one died, he lamented. He wailed, he cried. He cursed the immortals, blasphemed the gods, spat at the heavens. But he was just a mere mortal. His curses were pointless, his blasphemous words were useless, and his spits only returned back to fall on his face. At last, he thought, enough was enough, he would definitely do something about it. He decided that it was time for the multiverse to know what a mortal can do. He was the first mortal to cultivate. Eventually, after a long struggle, he killed the Immortals, enslaved the Gods, and shattered the heavens. He reshaped the multiverse and rewrote his fate. In the end, he reincarnated as he decided upon a grand scheme, a scheme to rule 'All and Always'. He came up with the concept of what is known today as 'Paragon'. And with this, all of reality, 'All and Always', was finally reforming, according to a Mortal's Wish. Synopsis (Old): In the vast and complex multiverse, what can a mortal accomplish? In the grand scheme of things, what can a mortal change? In truth, what is a mortal, and what is mortality? Being mortal is being ordinary, the same as being trash, or so says The World. "No, mortality is an art, and a true mortal is a grand artist. Being the root of all, a mortal can become anything.", says a young mortal boy. Meet Edward Alexander, a mortal boy walking the path against gods and immortals, fighting to the end to rewrite his destiny, and change the grand scheme of things. Can he really change the grand scheme of things? Or maybe he himself is the Grand Schemer? To know the answer, follow Edward Alexnder on his journey to demonstrate the Art of Mortality.*******

A Fool's Journey, or the Vagrancies of a Man in Exotic Lands
What does a sad bastard do when fate, literally, decides to throw him into a fantasy world? Solon just wanted to lead a normal life; work, share some pizza with friends, work, play some videogames or read something, work, maybe sleep?, work... Pretty much the usual, rinse and repeat. It was far from perfect, but life was nicely boring and comfy enough. Truth be told, he had hoped it would go on forever, or until he got married, or until the apocalypse finally decided to bring an end to everything. As far as he could tell, though, the former was about as likely as the latter; not very. And perhaps even somewhat related, if it ever came to it. Unfortunately, he saw himself involved in some sort of cosmic fart that screwed him over, brutally severing his life-plan. Or, maybe, would it be more suitable to say that Fate had other plans? Sure, he's yet to find out exactly what those plans might be, but, at the very least, they do seem to involve him being shoved into another world, fighting off a couple of horrendous creepers, and -almost- an accidental liaison with a baboon. Needless to say, the job doesn't come with dental care, and death seems more likely than retirement... Yep, when he got yoinked out of Earth, there were no princesses waiting for him, no sexy goddesses, and no severe Gandalf-wannabes! Heck, not even a bunch of demonic cultists! All he got for the trouble was a bunch of snarky windows and the honest desire to punch whatever bastard happens to be behind the smug System. Well, that, and a few forced trips to the so-called Tower of Ascension. Not exactly what he would have expected but, on the plus side, he does get to do some magic. Though, not quite the wand-waving kind. Whatever. One thing’s patently clear, though, he’s certainly not the chosen one, nor the summoned hero, nor the Savior. If anything, he himself might be in need of some saving... Just what kind of fool does the System take him for? Please do consider the tags. Also, 'Strong Lead' here means weak to strong, over a decent amount of time, not op from the very beginning. Things to expect: decent grammar, cheeky goats. Things not to expect: Harems, a decent sense of fashion.

Extant Expanse
The answer to an overpopulated, unemployed, robot replaced, under-resourced, power crisis, climate crisis, a poverty-stricken world, where the few have and most have not? It took a few decades of technology development, a few genius minds, and a few corporate takeovers, and a planet in crisis. Yet that answer should be obvious. * * * This is a first time writing attempt. I have no idea what's going to happen or where this story is headed. I simply had an idea for a story I wanted to explore. Fanfiction elements. I hope to release monthly, no guarantees though. * * * Unknown Cover Art
