I slammed it tightly behind me, covering my mouth and tears streaming down my face.

It was over.

It was finally over.

I wasn't gone, only half-drowned and swept up by a massive tidal force.

Now I had reached the shoreline once more.

They looked at me differently, that was much was for sure, but once they assured I was alright, they no longer worried.

Was it even a door to begin with?

Or was I bound to walk that road?

I looked at the journey I had taken, I walked it backwards and forwards a few times and wondered about everything.

The hammering feeling in my chest would wane and louden periodically as I returned back to the start.

And then I stopped. It was time for me to go. Dwelling forever here was bad, so I picked up my bags and left.

I swore I could hear many things as I walked away, but one that I knew I heard was

goodbye

And that was it. It was over.
