《Song of the Phoenix》Chapter 17

One time, Fei Fei was tempted to shave the bitch bald, but then it’d be too obvious. Thus, she resorted to drowning Baihe instead until she was on the verge of dying. Accidentally, the birthmark was discovered by Fei Fei during that incident. On the back of Baihe’s neck, hidden by those long silky hair, a small phoenix shaped birthmark was imprinted on her skin with its wings spread out like it was trying to take flight.

A phoenix of all things! Did this slut think she’ll become a phoenix one day, sitting on the throne? The seat of the future Empress belongs only to ME, Huang Fei Fei!

Ming knitted his brows as he glanced at his sister irritatingly. “Fei Fei, what’s the matter with you? Conduct yourself properly!”

He was annoyed at her because today was a big occasion. It was the most glorious event in their Feng Empire that occurred once every year, except this year was even more special. There will be a second part to the tournament that will determine the participants for the world martial event that happens once every three years in a secluded mystical island.

Many powerful people were gathered here today and here she was, his own sister behaving in a way that could make their family lose face! Exactly what could have shaken her to the point of losing her noble countenance?

Unable to put into words her current distress, Fei Fei could only point with a trembling finger toward a figure from afar. “Brother Ming, that woman must die today!”

“Shut your mouth! You want to commit murder in broad daylight with so many eyes watching?” Ming hissed, angered by his sister’s petty thoughts.

Finally realizing that there were other powerful people present, Fei Fei straightened herself, restoring the image of a well-bred noble lady. “Big brother, that woman over there is Huang Baihe. I don’t know what black magic she used, but she came back from the dead!” Lowering her voice as much as possible, she urged: “We must expose her, deceiving the monarch is a capital offense!”

Skeptical of what his sister was telling him, Ming stared intently at the woman Fei Fei pointed out. Upon seeing her beautiful face and graceful silhouette, he was stunned. Only with the constant nudging by his side, did he finally returned back to his senses.

“Impossible! That lady is so beautiful! More beautiful than anyone I’ve seen! How can she be that trash, Huang Baihe?” Ming refuted, immediately concluding his sister’s old disease of jealousy must have acted again and only wanted to create problems by throwing a tantrum.

Hearing those compliments coming from her own blood related brother for that slut, Fei Fei’s expression dropped and anger flared in her heart. Thinking of the bigger picture, she decided to try a softer approach. She coquettishly held onto a corner of his sleeves and pulled it gently.

“Big brother,” she said in a sweet voice filled with grievance; “She’s definitely Huang Baihe. The birthmark behind her nape is the proof. If we don’t get rid of this trash, my position as the crown princess won’t be set in stone and I won’t be able to use the position to help our family in the future…”

Those words were very effective! At once, the expression Huang Ming used to look at the woman who was supposed to be Huang Baihe changed. He also knew about the little birthmark Baihe had because he’d indulged in his sister’s bullying antics against Baihe and had even participated in some of the fun, including watching Baihe being stripped naked and whipped as they enjoyed the show on the sideline while the victim’s face filled with shame.

A woman of this era in this world being subjected to such humiliation, she’d never be able to marry, much less contest for the crown princess position. Which husband would be able to accept the fact that his own wife’s pearl milky body has been exposed to the eyes of others?

Knowing she had successfully roped in her brother Ming, Fei Fei’s eyes curved into slits. She happily waited on the side for her turn to come and prayed that she would be paired against Baihe so she could personally kill the eye-sore, or at least teach her a good lesson for daring to show up here!

As for the person in question, she was currently walking up leisurely to the stage as her name was called with an attitude like she was merely passing through. Collective gasps from the crowd were heard as they admired the elegant beauty standing alone in the middle of the arena; the blue robe she wore accentuated her delicate features as the sun illuminated her graceful silhouette. Her appearance would have been completely harmless as a lamb if it weren’t for those dark eyes of hers, glowing with a fierce edge of danger.

“Hey, who is that lady? I’ve never seen her before; otherwise, I’ll definitely remember that face!”

“Are you deaf? Didn’t you just hear them call her Baihe?”

“Baihe? What’s her surname? Wait…don’t tell me it’s Huang Baihe? The good-for-nothing trash?”

There was a huge commotion among the mass of people, even those sitting from above were heavily discussing about Baihe in low whispers; however, because her surname wasn’t announced, no one could determine if the lady on stage was actually the same Baihe from the Huang’s general household — the same girl who was supposed to be dead, especially when the two looked nothing alike.

Baihe stared expressionlessly at her opponent who had also arrived on stage. He was a huge man with a big, round body and loaded with a massive pack of weight. The spectators below began to shake their heads in pity for the beauty on stage because her opponent was much bigger than the lady and could easily crush her.

From the moment the guy stepped on stage and into the arena, Baihe only cared about his level of cultivation. The man appeared to be an Early Dao Stage 2 practitioner, which was the same level Baihe had managed to reach in six days. She regretted how her cultivation speed couldn’t be faster so she could have more leverage and leeway in fights.

If anyone were made aware of how she’d advanced to Early Dao Stage 2 in just merely six days and yet she was complaining about how slow the speed was, they would have vomited blood in anger. That kind of progress and speed was more than the birth of a genius, she was simply a monster!

Her opponent obviously didn’t put her in his eyes because he still had the time to make vulgar jokes. “Say, how about I’ll let you live if you become my concubine?” he jested with a lecherous look in his eyes.

The drool escaping from the corner of his oily lips repulsed not only the spectators, but also the royal family and all those watching. Baihe narrowed her eyes dangerously, not a shred of fear visible on her peerless face. “How about I’ll let you live if you obediently roll off the stage?”

The expression on her opponent’s face turned ugly in an instant. Once an opponent leaves the fighting arena, the match ends and the victor is concluded. Surrendering also works in the same way. “Stupid bitch! This daddy was trying to go easy on you! Seems like you won’t shed tears until you see the coffin!”
