"Lun'er, Come here." Zhen Xin gesturing to his son to come over to her side. "Your mother has something to tell you."
The cute little boy went over to the woman side and sat on her laps. "What is it, Mom?"
Zhen Xin gently caressing his hair. "You are going to marry someone in the future."
"Hm? Who is it? If she's not as beautiful as Mom I don't want her." The boy cheekily said.
Zhen Xin smiled as she kissed his son on the cheeks. "You have to marry her no matter what."
"...Well, If Mom said so I will then" The boy agreed but then he turned his head up to look at her mother face. "But why do I have to?"
"Listen carefully, Lun'er. The person you are marrying is the emperor's daughter. Your father owes the Emperor a favor. He wants you to marry her daughter."
"The Emperor? Like The King?"
Zhen Kang suddenly walks into the room, answering his son's question. "Yes, The one who rules this continent."
"Darling, No! You are not allowed to tell him at this age!" Zhen Xin covered the boy's ear.
Zhen Kang said with a bitter tone, "He has the right to know who he is."
"Zhen Lun! You are not our biological son!"
The little boy heard what his father said was stunned. 'Hm? Did I heard wrong?'
"We found you while we're traveling home, out of kindness and coincidence, we picked you up so that you can marry the emperor's daughter." Zhen Kang added again.
"Mother, Is this true?" The boy came down from her mother laps and looked her in the face.
Zhen Xin averted her gazes, she dare not look him in the face. "Yes..."
Zhen Lun stood like a statue for a few seconds as he cannot accept the truth. 'I do not belong to this place.'
He sprinted out from the hall and ran all the way to his room to calm himself down.
"Let him calm himself down first." Zhen Kang said. He went over to her wife to comfort her. "He is still our son, I'm sure he understands what we are trying to say." He hugged her wife who is crying.
---
'Uwaaaaaa!' He is moping in the corner. He doesn't know why but he just wanted to cry.
There's a pain in his chest as he found out that his parents only bring him in just to marry someone's daughter.
'But Mother is still Mom, She still loves me right?' Zhen Lun asked himself.
'If they love me they will come here and comfort me, I'll stay here and wait for them to come!'
Zhen Lun cooped up in his room for a whole day but no one came to visit him. The only one that heard everything was a guard that was employed by his father to protect him.
"Young Master, you haven't eaten your lunch and dinner yet." The guard that stood outside knocking on his doors.
"No, I won't eat!" Zhen Lun replied to the guard.
'...I'll wait tomorrow! Mother will wake me up like she usually does!' He is really determined. Despite that he is in a tough position, he is willing to think positively. He is not willing to give up and was not going to lose to his empty stomach.

The guard that was standing outside of his room was troubled. 'Young Master was always obedient before. That words said by that stupid old man really hurt him. This was the first time I heard him cry.' He was distress to see his beloved young master became like this.
...
The next morning arrived. Zhen Lun has long fainted while he was waiting for Zhen Xin, his mother.
The guard realized that there's something wrong, so he charged in only to find that Zhen Lun is sitting on the floor while hugging his own leg.
"Young Master!" The guard quickly went over, to his side.
"This! He has a fever!" The guard lifted him up and put him on his bed. He then went to call help.
...
"For f**k sake, Kang! Your son waited for you for a whole day but you didn't come to visits him! What the f**k is wrong with you!" The guard stormed over to the Hall to meet the city lord.
Zhen Kang was sitting at his workspace, busying himself with a bunch of documents. "I'm letting him sort his mind." He replied.
"You think he is you? Kang! He is only five years old!" The guard lifted him up on the collar with hatred. "At this kind of age, he needs affection from his parents! You didn't even let your wife visit your son!"
"...Then what should I do." Zhen Kang asked.
"Visit him! idiot! Should I beat you up so you regain your sense?" The guard was ready to punch if the man said something that doesn't satisfy him.
"Okay. I'll visit him."
The guard dropped him down, on the floor. 'Sigh... I can't blame him. He never receives parents' warmth so he doesn't know what to do. If I really want to blame, I'll have to blame that selfish retarded dog.' (He's talking about the emperor)
"He's sick, you should call a physician. You should also ask your wife to visit him too."
"Mhm, Thank you. I'll raise your wage!" Zhen Kang left the hall to call a physician.
"The f**k with wage!" Shao Huo was really pissed this time. 'This guy makes no sense!'
---
"Look what you have done." Zhen Xin scolded her husband.
"I'm sorry." Zhen Kang apologized. He was also worried when he looked at Zhen Lun's current condition.
"Ehem, Lord... Your son has just fainted due to overexerting his energy and has a slight fever because of stress. He is currently sleeping right now, you should let him rest. After he wakes up feed him this pill and remember to feed him food. Lord, he's not cultivator he needs to eat like a normal person." The old man that was examining his son explained the current condition of his body.
"I'll watch over him for today." Zhen Xin decided to stay and watch over Zhen Lun.
"Then I'll stay too." Zhen Kang seriously replied.
In the end, The physician sneaked out as he was too afraid to stay with them. After all, One of them is the City Lord and the other was a goddess.
...
After a few hours, Zhen Lun's little hand twitched a little.

"Lun'er!" Zhen Xin called out as soon as she saw Zhen Lun's hand slightly moved.
Zhen Lun slowly opened his eyes and found out that her mother is beside him. He then smiled. 'Mom still loves me!'
He looked around and found out that his father was also here, tears start flowing down from his eyes. He is happy to see that his parents still cared about him and that's all that matters to him. 'I'll do my best to become worthy of their son.'
"What's wrong!" Zhen Xin was worried to see that his son is crying.
Zhen Kang only stood there, looking at him with a tensed expression.
"Nothing... I'm fine." Zhen Lun said with a big smile on his face.
"Eat this pill! Eat this porridge!" Zhen Xin started to stuff everything into Zhen Lun's mouth.
---
The next day, Zhen Lun got better. He decided to start studying martial arts, He needs to become someone worthy of City Lord's son. To do that, He needs to at least become as strong as his fiance.
As the daughter of the emperor, she will receive a lot of help from the emperor himself. The best tutor, the best resources and the best school.
'I don't want to rely on my status but myself! This will prove that I didn't rely on father but on my own!'
Zhen Lun secretly sold all of his valuable robes and accessories. Though the clothes are not really his, it was given to him, so it was his right? and they're nothing but decorations. He wanted to use the money that he receives to buy books about martial artists.
The first thing, He needs to do is to start gathering essential knowledge first.
"Uncle Huo! What does this mean!" Zhen Lun pointed to a sentence on the book.
"Um, It means that..." Shao Huo explains everything that he knows.
With Shao Huo helps he could understand everything easily.
Few years passed as he continues to gather knowledge and He's ready to attend a school himself. He decided to enter Peerless Sky Sect, where it doesn't need money but only talented to enter. Of course, if you fail you could also enter through the back door (1).
Wearing his only clothes left which are ragged, Zhen Lun excitedly escaped from the mansion.
'I'm sorry Father, Mother. I'll be leaving here!' Zhen Lun looked back at the mansion, he was reluctant to leave the place. At the mansion, he was served delicious foods, protected by strong guards. His life will be smooth sailing if he stayed in the mansion.
He has left a letter in his room. He left the letter where Uncle Huo could easily find it.
The content of the letter
------------------------------------
To my beloved Father and Mother
I will be leaving to train myself at Peerless Sky Sect
So that I can proudly call myself your son
Please do not find me, I will take care of myself
Sincerely, Zhen Lun
------------------------------------
Reading the letter, Their parents were proud, but at the same time worried that he won't be able to survive there.
Shao Huo who was supposed to guard Zhen Lun was demoted to soldier as he let his guards down, letting Zhen Lun escaped without him noticing.
One night, When he took off his clothes, he found that there's a paper in his pocket.
'Hehe, I'm sorry Uncle Huo. I drugged you with sleeping pills so that I can escape without you noticing. Sincerely Zhen Lun.'
Shao Huo that receives the letter in his pocket was dumbstruck. 'He planned all of this himself!'
'I can forgive you but my wage...' Shao Huo cried in his sleep.

Puff*
He has walked quite far to reach Peerless Sky Sect. It was located at the north forest, outside Xinhai City. The whole North Forest was Peerless Sky Sect's territory.
He finally can see the place!
With his small body, he has to climb the tall stairs. It was the first test, they have to climb without the help of the others.
'This much is nothing!'
Zhen Lun runs up the stairs with full of vigor. He easily climbed all the way up within a few minutes. Though when he reaches the top he is lying on the ground lifelessly.
'Ah... My body is not moving.' Zhen Lun lied on the floor for few minutes before moving again.
'I finally arrived!' Zhen Lun looked at the giant sign of Peerless Sky Sect with sparkling eyes.
"Who is that bumpkin!"
"Look at his clothes, what a dirty kid!"
"Does this place allows beggar to attend?"
Zhen Lun ignored the whispers around him and continue to walk.
A figure suddenly jumped down from the sky, appearing in front of Zhen Lun.
"Kid! Become my disciple!" The man said with his hand on his back, giving an aura of an expert as he appeared.
Zhen Lun looked behind him to turn who is the man talking to. 'Who is so lucky to receive such attention?'
The haughty boy behinds Zhen Lun looked very shock, He immediately kneels down and to pay respects to the man. "Yu Tugu, pay respects to Elder!"
"Not you! You!" The man pointed to Zhen Lun.
"Me!?" Zhen Lun was confused. 'Why me?'
"Yes, you! You're the one that I wanted. Don't ask why just accept it!" The man said.
"But-"
"No, but!" The man interrupted. "Kneel down and pay respect to your teacher."
"I-I understand." Zhen Lun was forced to comply, he doesn't see the reason to decline the offer.
"My name is Zhen Lun, I hereby pay respect to my teacher!" Zhen Lun kneeled down while clasping his fist in a dignified manner. Even though he is kneeling down, it could be seen he is proudful and prideful.
"Good, Call me Wu Shi. You don't need to attend the classes. You will study with me! From now on you will follow me."

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!

NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.

I got the idea from a meme saying it'd b cool of someone wrote that as a fanfic. So, I figured I'd give it a go. It's just going to be a short little thing, but I think the story is still cute.
