Chapter 15 - Power Levels and Gold Spirit Tea
…
As Li Qu walked in the brewing room…
He observed the numerous square wooden cabinets stacked on top of one another made out of the same Void Mahogany Wood with numerous materials assumed to be for brewing tea sticking out of the drawers due to the sheer amount stored inside each and every drawer.
The smell of rich fragrant herbs wafted towards his nose as he inhaled deeply to savor the aroma emitted by it.
He walked to the nearest table and picked out the ingredients he needed for the Gold Spirit Tea from the drawers.
Each and every drawer from the cabinets were labeled according to the which Realms they came from, and the name of the exact ingredient.
It was literally the spitting image of the treasures in a top-tiered Immortal Alchemy Sect's treasure vault, and maybe even better with precious ingredients that would have wars waged just to get them if the Immortals and Demons knew about it, and this was just purely for brewing tea!
Li Qu thought about the future teas that he would be brewing with all these ingredients as he gathered the Gold Spirit Tea's ingredients and began brewing the very first potential pot of Gold Spirit Tea that would most likely succeed.
"Alright, this is the last step, this will be a test to see if my Tea Heart is useful or not."
The last part was approaching as the multiple ingredients started converging together.
Li Qu's Tea Heart started activating as sincerity overflowed out of it. It was a spectacular scene as his left chest started emitting golden glows, the golden glow slowly floated across to merge with the ingredients.
…
After a few nerve-racking seconds, there seemed to be a reaction as the glow from the tea leaves died down, resulting in a successful attempt on brewing the Gold Spirit Tea.
The tea leaves merged by the ingredients were brimming with vitality, as if it could jump up and walk around.

Li Qu smiled with anticipation as he took the tea leaves and soaked them in the boiled Spirit Water in the teapot.
The Spirit Water was concocted by using the dampened Gold Yang Tree's Bark and letting it drip into the pot while it became the Spirit Water, after which it was boiled once again.
His attempt already guaranteed to be successful.
[3rd Mission: Brew your very own pot of Gold Spirit Tea 1/1]
[Mission Complete!]
[Celestial Teahouse's Menu will be placed on each table in the dining area, please have a look.]
[Gold Spirit Tea will be added to the menu for guests to order.]
Li Qu walked out of the brewing room and proceeded to sit down on the chair at the nearest table and gave the menu a glance.
The menu was engraved onto the middle of each table, with a simple white but royal minimalistic design. The word 'Celestial Teahouse' was engraved in gold at the middle top of the menu, and it was quite outstanding as compared to the white background.
There was a small series of words engraved in the top left, just below the big 'Celestial Teahouse' word.
'Gold Spirit Tea: 1 Pot – 5 Bio-Cores'
"System, what are these 'Bio-Cores'? Is that some sort of currency? Or something similar to a Beast Core from the Fierce Beasts in Black Heaven?"
[Replying to Host, it is something that will be inside a body of a Biologically Mutated Beast, in short, Bio-Beast. They came to life when the Essence of Evolution permeated throughout the bodies of regular animals, they then slowly mutated and reproduced offspring that were already further mutated from birth.]
The System then continued on with its introduction of the power levels on Earth.
[They are separated into ten stages, with the 10th Stage Bio-Beast being equivalent to a 5th Stage Revolver, in order for the Bio-Beasts to undergo evolution, they would attempt Ascension after reaching the peak of the 10th Stage and trying to break through, they would self-destruct the ten nodes made of Bio-Core and forcefully reconstruct their body's genes, they would then possess the ability to morph into humans and would have the intelligence of an adult human, while being capable of human speech as well.]

Li Qu mused and proceeded to ask the System more questions.
"So, what are Revolvers? I used my spiritual sense to sweep the vicinity and discovered some of the people who have powers. I realized that they were using some weird methods to cultivate, similar to the people in Gold Heaven Realm that practice Body Cultivation, but at the same time, different."
[Host, the people with powers on Earth are initially called 'Evolvers', they have a total of five phases, with the 5th Phase comparable to the initial stage of Foundation Establishment cultivators. Earthlings did a lot of research and came up with an 'Evolver's Ceremony' to awaken young potential Evolvers.]
"So, what I felt was not cultivation, but something else… Interesting. What is that so called 'Evolver's Ceremony'?"
Li Qu asked the System with apparent interest.
The System initiated the interface and it popped up in front of Li Qu, it displayed a few videos demonstrating the Evolver's Ceremony.
'This is not an Illusory Image Stone to capture moving images…! What magic is this?'
As if the System could hear Li Qu's internal thoughts, it explained to him.
[Host, this is what humans call, a 'video'. It is a moving image screen recording that was invented by a genius Earthling 520 years ago, before the Bio-Beasts and Evolvers started to show up. In the Beginner's Pack, there was a jade slip to learn about the basic daily technology, I would recommend Host to use it now.]
"…"
Li Qu summoned the jade slip from his inventory and sent his consciousness into it.
An overload of information flooded Li Qu's brain, but his cultivation was high, and the effect of the brain overloading from the sudden influx of information was negligible.
"I see… Earthlings are really amazing. The WeTalk that Xia Qiu was talking about, is it already installed in the phone you gave me?"
[Host, every necessary communication application has been installed on Host's phone.]
[…]
[Continuing from where I left off. As Host can see from the video in front of Host, at the tender age of 16-18, it would be the best time to capture the 'Essence of Evolution', also known as Spiritual Qi, as their brains would be the most active at that age. They would then meditate and try to detect the small nodes of white lights made from the Essence of Evolution. They have tutorials posted throughout online in multiple Evolver's forums to guide them through each and every step in details.]
The system then continued,
[They would need to slowly grasp and combine the lights together to form the shape like that of a ball. The bigger and brighter it is, the higher the potential of said person. Occasionally, there would be Natural Evolvers appearing, where they would awaken independently without undergoing the Evolver's Ceremony, the chances of it occurring are one in one hundred thousand, and they would become very powerful.]
Li Qu now knew a little about the power levels on Earth, he then waved off the System interface and he snapped his fingers with the intention of summoning something from the brewing room.
The brewing room had a little vibration as the tea leaves of the Gold Spirit Tea soaked in a teapot filled with hot water and a teacup started floating and headed towards Li Qu's table slowly.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
