Chapter 4 - Crater Incident
...
Meanwhile at the park…
A pair that consisted of a man and a woman wearing a matte black suit and dress respectively with the woman wearing sunglasses, were trying to investigate the cause of the crater.
The man was 1.9m tall, above the average of normal males. The girl was about 1.7m, a height that would be normal if she were to be a model.
The man squatted down to touch the dirt in the crater to find some clues and said to the woman in a fluent Hua language.
"Hmm? This is kinda weird right? I really can't figure out the reason. I can only feel like there's some sort of strange power, this is really strange! Hu Rou, what do you think?"
Hu Rou ignored the man and closed her eyes to concentrate while the man shrugged it off, as if this situation happened too many times to count.
"Hunter's Eyes."
The woman then muttered softly.
As her eyes opened, it slowly started to morph.
With her irises contorting into a single slit and her pupils changing into a bright yellow color from her original black.
If you observed her eyes closely, you would see that the woman had eyes like that of a tiger.
"As always, I can't help but to be enraptured by those eyes. Even the other Hu Clan members don't have eyes as nice as yours. I really don't think I would ever get bored of looking at it in my life. Ahh! How I wish I could look into them forever~"
The Mei Country-looking man looked at her activating her eye technique and could not help but fall into a daze and said words filled with the passion and glory of an experienced playboy.
"Issac Rosefield, if you have time to play around, it would be for the best for you to contribute. Your thick skin can certainly help in asking the witnesses around when this incident happened."

Hu Rou looked at Issac Rosefield and said coldly.
"Tch! As always, you're too cold! It's not fun at all~"
Issac Rosefield said playfully as he got up from squatting and proceeded to walk around and ask the potential witnesses in the park.
Just as she looked in the crater with her Hunter's Eyes and tried to gaze at the unknown energy permeating around the place, she gritted her teeth in pain as she tried not to scream out loud in pain.
"H-how can this unknown energy be so strong? T-this is an unregistered form of energy from an entity that we have never encountered before! I even received damage just from the residual energy!"
Hu Rou stuttered as she trembled while trying to hold the pain in. She had an appearance that looked as if she was crying, but not with tears. With blood.
The cultivation power Li Qu released was so strong that the Immortal Qi residue left in the crater had caused her eyes to bleed.
Normally, people would not detect anything strange as it was way above what they could fathom.
Hu Rou thought that she was damaged by the residual unknown energy, but what she received was what they call a 'backlash'.
When Hu Rou tried to investigate the traces, she received a backlash from trying to track the traces of Immortal Qi left by an Immortal, but she would not know of it.
Without proper preparation and sufficient cultivation level. One could not simply trace an Immortal.
If she could have known of it in advance, she would immediately contact her clan's Grand Ancestor before making any unknown moves that would put her in potential danger as this was way above what she could handle.
…
"Hey, you! Did you see what happened here? You know anyone that saw what happened here? Hey, hey! Don't walk off! We're officials trying to investigate a case!"

Issac Rosefield shouted at a few passersby and got weird looks as if he was crazy. A Mei Country-looking man wearing a suit in this hot weather in the middle of a park and shouting at people.
Hua Country's people were quite conservative, so the reaction that Issac Rosefield received was not totally uncalled for.
"F*ck… Why is it so hard to adapt to the culture here!"
Issac Rosefield grumbled in frustration.
"Oh well, the girls in this country are quite pretty, I guess I have no choice but to adapt myself if I want a wife from Hua Country~ Hahahaha!"
Just as Issac Rosefield was imagining his future with his Hua Country wife, a small boy walked up to him nervously and said,
"U-uncle, hello… A-are you trying to find out w-what happened here? I-I saw it!"
Issac Rosefield snapped out of his imagination and looked at the small boy while he tried not to be so intimidating.
"Huh? O-oh yeah! Little kid, you saw what happened here?! What's your name? Quick, tell me what happened!"
As Issac Rosefield was too excited, the small boy got a bit startled from his over-enthusiasm.
"U-uncle, my name is *Zhen Yonggan, m-my father gave me this name in hopes for me to be c-courageous!
Zhen Yonggan stammered as he was still frightened by the incident and Issac Rosefield's overwhelming presence.
"OK! Zhen Yonggan, your father is a very smart man, I can see why he gave this name! Hahahaha! So, can you explain to me what happened? If everything you said is good, uncle will give you a lollipop!"
Zhen Yonggan got another fright as he hurried shook his head and said,
"N-no! M-my mother said that only bad strangers give lollipops! Huu… Ok, I-I was playing on the p-playground with my friends, when my friend accidentally kicked the b-ball too hard! It landed near the tree w-where a lot of weird uncles were taking photos of the birds on the tree! I was the one to go and fetch the ball back!"
"Ok, then?"
The small boy took a deep breath and continued,
"A-and then when I was going to pick up the ball, I-I saw another weird uncle with funny costume standing up! H-he looked really funny! Hehe, but all of a sudden everything around the w-weird uncle went KABOOM! A-and then, only the uncle was standing i-in the middle!"
When Zhen Yonggan was narrating the incident, his snot started dropping down his nose as he rubbed his nose.
"Hey kid! Don't rub your nose, it's bad for your health! Are you sure it's that crat-"
Just as Issac Rosefield was pointing towards the crater to reaffirm Zhen Yonggan's story, he noticed Hu Rou sitting down while trembling. His gaze became serious as he said to the kid,
"Kid, thanks for explaining, here's a lollipop. Uncle is busy, I'll see you around."
Issac Rosefield threw a lollipop that he got from his pocket to Zhen Yonggan as he hurried to Hu Rou's location.

Heart of Cultivation
Book one is now available for purchase or download through Kindle Unlimited! Jian was a prodigy, at least until he discovered that his path of cultivation had hit a dead end almost as soon as it began. That was all years ago, though. He has long since resigned himself to his fate and prepared himself for a dull, ordinary, but happy life. Stunted cultivation or no, he's clever enough to carve out his own comfortable niche. Unfortunately, not all of the matters from his past have been settled. When a reckless mistake threatens to cost him everything, Jian will have to prove that he's desperate enough to rise to the occasion. Or that he's capable of avoiding the consequences. This is an affectionate reconstruction of the xianxia genre. I will be deploying the tropes from the genre that I enjoy in a framework that I think makes sense. The story updates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes other days.

To simply see a [City Guard] or a [Warrior] maybe even a [Mage], even then I'd be sated no matter how basic the Class. I wanted to witness what I read about, the fantastical [Secret Stache] of a [Treasure Hunter] or a [Pickpocket] using [Deft Hands]. These were natural occurrences above, but alas, I was below. And this deep down, I'd see my first horror before seeing any mere monster. My escape were the books but soon I'd turn that knowledge into a real escape, I'd emerge from this dear library and claw my way above. But I'd need to prepare myself, I just didn't know how yet. Twisted Skies
After his master's death, Thurain leaves his rural home behind and travels to Heliana, the cramped city founded on the scientific progress of cultivation. Under a fake name, he aims to enter the Elemental Path Sect, the place of his master's death, to find both his killers, and closure. However, surrounded by the strange and horrible wonders of Heliana and its mixture of heroes and villains, his master's death is not the only murder he may have to solve. --- First attempt at a xianxia novel from me. To shake things up from the usual formula, the setting is more steam-punk than you might expect, and there are elements of murder mystery mixed in with the standard formula (though I'm not entirely sure yet how far to go with it.) I wrote this a while ago for NaNoWriMo, only posting it now for various reasons. Enjoy. Also, cover is highly temporary. I'll probably replace it with something nicer eventually.
