《Minecraft: A New Beginning》Episode 9: Improvements (3)

I killed about 15 skeletons.
I started to panic that they might be still quite a lot of them but I just keep swinging my sword to whoever comes to me.
I am not retreating and leave this cave empty-handed.
The ground is now littered with skeletons in pieces.
"Oooh!" I suddenly hear a loud and deep voice.
A giant skeleton appeared holding a really big stone mace.
It is about 2 meters tall. He is about to hit his head in the ceiling of the cave.
How tall is this guy when he was alive? I assumed even skeletons come from dead humans like zombies and they don't just pop out in the ground.
Even though he is menacing in look, I don't feel afraid. My fears and anxieties went down with the last skeleton I killed. There are only me and him now.
The giant skeleton charged and started to swing his mace.
There is no room to evade so I just raised my shield to block it.
The force of the swing was so strong that I managed to fly for about 10 blocks and rolled over the ground.
It hurts but I only receive 1 heart of damage. Thank god for the armor.
I quickly got up on my feet and readied my sword.
I have no idea how to kill this guy but I just charge him head on.
He started to swing his mace again but this time instead of blocking with the shield, I tried to block it with a swing of the sword. My plan is to lower the durability of his weapon until it gets destroyed.
The stone mace was suddenly cut into two pieces. I was surprised that I have this kind of strength.
I thrust my sword to his chest. He tried to block it with the remaining piece of his mace but the sword still went through.
I pulled back my sword and he suddenly went down. I approach the giant skeleton and stab my sword on his skull. I need to be thorough about this. He might still be alive and attack me from the back when I turn around.
As a moment passed, there nothing but silence in this cave.
I look around and see tons of dead skeletons on the ground.
I pulled my sword out on the head of the skeleton and resumed my exploration. I know I need a little bit of rest but I don't know if this is the last of them so I need to make sure.
After exploring the entire cave, I didn't see any more monsters.
I went back to the place where I fought all the skeletons.
Damn. As I stare at the carnage, I realized that I'm the one who did this.
I didn't expect to fight these many monsters. I was hoping to fight a couple of monsters but I'm glad that I managed to defeat them all.
I only received 1 heart of damage so it probably takes only one day for me to recover.
I'm lucky that there are only skeletons here and there were no zombies. Otherwise, there will be lots and lots of blood all around here. I was lucky too that there were no other types of monsters.

I should start inspecting my loot though I don't know if the skeleton inventory can be accessed if there are in pieces.
I picked up the nearest skull and tried to open his inventory but nothing happens. It seems you can't access them if there are not whole or skeletons don't have inventories. I hope it's the former.
I began looking for the body of this head but I don't know which one is it since all of them looks the same so I just put it down and tried accessing the giant skeleton's inventory since he is still in one piece.
Luckily, I managed to open the inventory of the giant skeleton. There a lot of useful things here like journals, research documents, and other things. This guy seems to be a researcher of some kind but how did he get big like this. Is he already like this or did he get big for other reasons? I don't really know the answer so I just empty his inventory and proceed on assembling the other bodies.
It took a little while of collecting my loot because I have to trial and error which body parts belong to whom. I learned that they don't need to be whole to access their inventory but you have to make sure that majority of their body is still intact. I wonder if undead monsters burn in the sunlight, where will the items they are holding go?
The loot was quite a lot and I'm not leaving anything behind no matter how useless it is so I just built a chest outside the cave to store the items and just have to make trips on transferring them to the storage back home. It is really great to have shulker boxes right about now or an ender chest though I wonder how ender chest works here.
I saw lots of iron ores and coals in the cave so I quickly mined them too. Some of the torches that I placed burnt out so I just used my lantern to see while mining.
I also picked up all the weapons and armors of the dead. They are a lot of variety of weapons. Most of the skeletons I fought used swords or bows but some of them have spears, axes and the giant one has a mace.
It is good to know that you can build different types of weapons here than in the game. I need to find a way to craft this type of weapons. It also nice to finally have a bow. Now I can attack monsters at a distance. I just need to practice so I can use it properly.
I learned that all of them except the giant whose name is Oliver Cromwell were soldiers. He is the only one here that has two words in his name so his probably a noble of some kind. I did a quick read of Oliver's journal and it seems they went to the forest of monsters to do some research and that Oliver brought a lot of guards with him. He is curious to know why the forest of monsters contains lots of monsters. He also wants to discover new monsters.

This Oliver guy is probably obsessed with monsters. Why would he personally come to a dangerous place? I feel sorry for the guards who went with him.
It seems that he is unsuccessful with his research since he is dead but he managed to gather a lot of information.
I'm starting to suspect that I might be in this so-called forest of monsters. That would be really ridiculous. Someone just dumped me in this forest filled with monsters.
I tried on dissembling one of the skeletons to see if I can store bones in the inventory and it did.
I managed to gather a lot of bones. I should try crafting them into bone meal and use it to the crops.
I didn't expect gathered this much loot but I managed to store all of them in my castle.
*******
I am in my bedroom right now resting.
My plan was to hit as many caves as possible today but I didn't expect to have this much loot so I just went back home and started reading all of Oliver's research to see if there are useful information here. The language is the same as the letters that I found from Rolf but I can still fluently read it. It really weird but I didn't mind.
I learned quite a lot about monsters.
Most of the monsters that exist in the overworld of the game are still here but there they have a different set of behaviors like zombies will always travel in hordes. But so far, I only found one zombie so probably I just got lucky.
Skeleton armies will always have a leader. Once a leader has been chosen by the group, the leader will suddenly change and become stronger or smarter and sometimes both. I wonder if Oliver is the leader of that skeleton group since he is really big and strong. And how is this monster vote for their leader? It didn't say in the research documents. I really want to know.
I also learned that creepers are born when a person dies with immeasurable hatred against their kind and was buried in a grassy area. No wonder those guys want to blow up every human being they see.
Giant spiders live in caves. They cover their caves with cobwebs to protect themselves and at the same time to trap anyone who dares to enter their lair. I wonder if I could find a spider cave to collect some strings. Strings can be useful for a lot of things.
Slimes are found in swamps. There is no mention here that slimes can be found underground so I'm glad to know that. It would be quite problematic when you are busy mining then suddenly giant slimes started attacking you.
I didn't see any mention of witches or mobs that exist in Nether or End dimensions. These dimensions probably don't exist here or none of the people here managed to get there.
Witches are probably not considered as a monster here or they don't exist. They are probably classified as criminals if they do exist and they harm people.
It is bizarre to know this information. Monsters in the game don't have backstory whatsoever, they just appeared out of nowhere and attack you.
After resting for the rest of the morning, I decided to go back to mining. My plan to gather information was a success and I know quite a lot of this world. I also know my current location, I think. I really don't want to believe that I ended in this world in the middle of Forest of Monsters. Why can't someone send me to a place where there are humans?
I continued mining while cursing the one who is responsible for sending me in this world.
******* Arthur's POV *******
"We can't be in here, Arthur." said the elder of our village.
"I know but we don't have anywhere to go. Enemy soldiers are rounding up all the civilians and some of them are chasing us right now. We rather be inside this forest than to be caught. We don't know what they will do to us." I answered him back.
I make sure to raise my voice a little bit so that everyone on the group can hear me.
They are having second thoughts about this and they even think about surrendering themselves but I will never let that happen.
They will kill us or turn us into slaves or even worse once they caught us.
"I rather face the monsters here than to face those humans," I said after a short silence to make sure they don't change their minds about my plan.
There are about 30 of us in here. We got women, children, elderly and two men who got injured fighting off some soldiers. They used to be more than a hundred of us but most of the group got caught and we are the only ones who managed to escape.
All of us are tired of walking but I keep pushing them. We need to go much deeper into the forest so that the people chasing us call off the hunt. They might be good of terrorizing innocent people but they are afraid of fighting monsters.
When we are sure that they stop chasing us, we just need to go back and find a way to sneakily past them. We can also wait for them to leave but this forest is really dangerous if you stay for too long so we are running out of options.
I have no idea what I'm going to do with my people. We no longer have our village since they burnt it down. We are also running out of food and water.
'Goddess of all creation please save these people. I beg of you. Please send a savior.'
I prayed from the bottom of my heart.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)

Dragon Knight Prophecy

To complete his mission he needs a dragon but the road to the dragon’s lair goes horribly wrong, and when he finally faces the beast he stands alone. A deeply emotional story that deals with pain, regret, betrayal, and failure. Despite it all somehow our heroes discover they need each other and slowly come together. With the help of some dedicated friends they realize their love is special, and go on to forge a new world befitting their unusual union. If you like dragons, romance, a little magic and a lot of war this might be for you. This story eventually evolves into a very loving harem, where the women rely on and love one another just as much as they love our hero. Please note: I am an amateur writer who started this story as a form of therapy while my wife was teetering on the brink of death. Thankfully she survived but by that point I was so committed to telling this story I couldn’t stop. I learned a great deal about writing over time but I am afraid my early chapters were very rough. I have since gone back and begun to edit them, applying the lessons learned and cleaning them up. I hope you will still enjoy the story, as I love sharing it and I can’t imagine a better use of my time. Sexual content.. In seven books I have written two sex scenes, but one of them will be highly edited once I reach them with my rewrite. Overall I imply our characters are sharing their love but don't go into any great detail as to how. So if sexual content bothers you, it is only lightly touched on twice.
