《Minecraft: A New Beginning》Episode 6: Learning and Adjustment (5)

After tending my wound on my left shoulder that I managed to get from a zombie attack, I quickly light up the entire tunnel using torches. I don't want any more monsters popping around here.
I should go back home and lie down to recover my health but I was curious about the zombie.
How did it get here? Did it just pop up out of nowhere like in the game? That doesn't make sense considering my home has no light on the inside, it should be filled up with monsters when I'm away but I didn't see any since the day I built my house.
The body also didn't disappear. It is quite hard to imagine that when every time a monster spawn like in the game and you managed to slay it, the bodies will just keep piling up on the ground. This zombie must come from somewhere.
I'm lucky that my first fight with a monster is a zombie. Zombies are kind of slow and dumb. It will be a disaster if my first monster encounter is a skeleton archer or a creeper.
I picked up the stone hoe that I kicked away from the zombie's hand. I only have a wooden hoe so it is really useful to have. It is glowing a little bit. It is probably enchanted. I put it in my inventory and see what enchantments it has. It has a Unbreaking I and Efficiency I enchantments. It quite weird to see a stone an enchanted stone tool but it is really nice to have one.
I also tried putting the other half of the carpet that I didn't use for a bandage in my inventory to see if I can store other things aside from blocks and items that is already in the game. Surprisingly, it did store. It doesn't have a name though when you look at it in the inventory but at least I know I can store other things in my inventory.
I approach the zombie that still lay in the ground.
I tried pulling the stone sword in its chest with only my right hand since my left hand is injured.
It made a very horrible sound when I pulled it out and blood started to flow out on the zombie. Great. Now we have a puddle of blood on the ground. The tunnel is also starting to smell like a morgue because of the odor reeking from the zombie blood.
Blood can also be seen in the stone sword. I pulled out the cut carpet in my inventory to thoroughly clean the stone sword. I don't want to put a bloodied weapon in my inventory where I store my food. I also cleaned the stone hoe since it has a little blood in it that I didn't notice when I picked it up.
After cleaning the sword and hoe, I put it away in my inventory. I also went ahead and organize my inventory so that food will be safely stored away at a distance of my weapons and tools. I don't know what I'm going to do with bloodied rag that I'm holding so I just put it back in my inventory. I know this is pretty stupid but I don't want to throw away items that might be useful in the future and I only have apples in my inventory so I'm not too worried about contaminating it. It also might be that every slot in my inventory is stored separately in whatever dimension that it is put in and cannot affect each.

I leaned on the dead body to check if there are things, I can find useful. I endured the blood and the smell and started to search the body but I didn't find any. The zombie is wearing clothes but I am not going to strip a dead body so that I can have spare clothes.
I wondered if zombies have an inventory. They were once human beings after all before they turn into one.
I tried putting my hand on top of the head of the zombie and imagine its inventory like what I did to make the GUI of the furnace appear.
An inventory suddenly appeared on top of the zombie. It is very similar to my inventory but instead of having a crafting grid on top beside the armor slots, it is displaying the status.
Apparently, this guy has a name. The status says his name is Rolf. His status also says that his dead. Well, he is already a zombie so how much dead can he be.
The inventory is half-filled with items and blocks. I was surprised to see other things that stored here that didn't exist in the game.
I quickly transferred all the items and blocks in my inventory. I was going to immediately examine the items that I got because I'm really curious about them but I can no longer stand the smell of the dead zombie.
I should get rid of the dead body and clean the tunnel. I don't want my mine shaft to be plagued with diseases.
I picked the arms of the zombie and began to drag the body outside the mine shaft. It is really heavy and hard to do since my left hand is injured.
I suddenly remembered that zombies are undead creatures and, in the game, all undead creatures set on fire when they come in contact with sunlight.
As I reach the exit of the tunnel, the zombie suddenly caught fire when the sunlight touches its skin and began to disintegrate. I quickly let go of the zombie's arms and distance myself.
I watch as the zombie is starting to disappear.
I don't know if this guy was a normal person that suddenly got here same as me or he was a resident of this world but I'm sorry this happen to him. I pray that the same thing will not happen to me.
I went back inside the tunnel and clean the blood on the ground using the remaining carpet that I have.
I removed all the torches in the mine shaft and put them back in my inventory. I can't mine today since I'm heavily injured so I need to save up the torches.
I blocked the entrance of the mine shaft just in case there's another monster spawn inside but I was thinking that the zombie might not be originated from here and just went inside the tunnel to avoid the sunlight. It was probably wandering around the forest at night and just happen to find the mine shaft.
The journey back home is really difficult. It is a little bit far and I'm still at 6 hearts of health. I was starting to regret building the mine shaft 70-80 blocks of distance from home but I'm glad that I did. I don't want the first thing that I see in the morning when I get out of the house is a tunnel full of monsters.

I immediately lie down on the bed when I got home.
I no longer have the strength to do anything. My plan to mine stones today was sabotage by a zombie.
I don't even know if I can recover my health but I quickly dismiss that thought since I don't want to die.
Recovery potions should be useful right now but I don't have a brewing stand or any brewing materials.
I open my inventory to see if they are medicines or anything, I can use in the items I picked up from the zombie.
Unfortunately, there is none but there is apparently a bottle of water so I take it out and drink it since I'm a little bit thirsty.
Most of the items I picked up are related to farming. Rolf was probably a farmer. Which makes sense since he was carrying a stone hoe. He likely died while holding it. There are plenty of seeds, potatoes and carrots too. He was probably farming at that time. There is also an item called fertilizer. I don't see any bone meal so it is likely categorized as fertilizer here or it has a different use. Bone meal is quite magical in the game since it can able to grow crops instantly.
There is also a lantern. I take it out. It appears to be candle inside of it. I light it up using flint and steel. I got up and attach it on the middle of the ceiling.
Finally, there is a light inside the house.
I don't know how long will the lantern last but I have half a stack of candles in my inventory so I don't have to worry for a while.
There are two sets of clothes in the inventory which I quickly change to since my clothes are soaked in blood and sweat. Luckily, they fit.
There are also cooking utensils and a stove.
Cooking utensils comprise of a pan, pot and a ladle.
The stove looks similar to the furnace but the holes are on top and on one side. The hole on the side is probably where you put the fuel and the top is where to put the pot or pan. I could try cooking the eggs using the pan with this stove.
I wonder how to craft this stove. I tried placing cobblestones in the crafting grid.
I tried many patterns until I got it right. You have to place the cobblestones like an upside down leggings. It is great that there are other crafting recipes here. I should try to experiment with the crafting.
Well, now I have a way to cook food but the items I'm really curious about are these books and a satchel.
I sat up in the bed and since there is no headboard, I just put my back on the wall.
I take out the satchel to see what is inside. There are letters here. It is written in a language I do not know but surprisingly I can manage to read it. I don't know what is happening here but I read all of them one by one.
Apparently, Rolf has a family and was exchanging letter with them. He was sent to a farm to help because of the food shortage of the city. While his wife named Maria is a librarian. They have one daughter and the way they talk about her in the letters it seems that she is very young in age. Her name is Thea.
Rolf's wife and daughter were left in the city. His wife helps with the enchantments of the weapons and armors of the kingdom's soldiers. She also helps with the enchanting of tools for farming, mining, and fishing. She personally enchants a stone hoe to send for his husband.
The shortage of food started when the Kingdom of Xaerin started invading the Astikuviel Kingdom that Rolf and his family was living on. The Astikuviel Kingdom managed to repel the invaders but most of the farming villages were burned down so there in a process of rebuilding it. There are also monster hordes attacking in the east from the Forest of Monsters.
There is a lot of information I learned from these letters. I'm also surprised that even though it is written in another language, I can read it.
From what I could gather. The Astikuviel Kingdom is located west of the Forest of Monsters and the Xaerin Kingdom is located west of Astikuviel Kingdom.
I don't know where is this Forest of Monster so I have no idea where are these kingdoms are but they are probably close since I found Rolf here.
I'm really surprised for the information I learned.
There are apparently other people living in this world. There even have kingdoms. Well, it is not great that they are trying to kill each other but at least I know there are other living human beings aside from me here. Though I don't know if the Astikuviel Kingdom is still around since it is being attacked on both sides by humans and monsters but still it is good to know that I'm not alone in this world.
The pain in my shoulder was suddenly gone and I was filled up with hope.
