《Truth Behind The Glasses》Chapter 9 No Bar

MY MIND flew back to the present.

Before I knew it, I was at home, as usual- I didn’t know how and when. All I know is when the professor permitted me to go home, saying I really looked like a zombie- pale and dumbfounded- I just nod at him.

I was startled to see Vyra sitting at the edge of my bed, wearing casual clothes.

“Oh? So you were sent back home, too, huh?” she asked, not looking at me. She was staring outside the window.

“Yeah, I’m not feeling well. Don’t you dare to make things worse for me,” I said.

I put my bag on the bedside table and flopped on my bed. I feel tired over nothing.

“Cut the bullshit, bitch. Let’s go shopping. I will make good use of this card.” She showed me a card and winked at me.

My face brightened. “That’s Liam’s credit card!”

Ooh, we’re gonna have a great time!

I hurriedly stand up to change my clothes. I wore a black high-waist skort and a plain brown fitted T-shirt. I tied my hair in a braided bun. Put on a little blush-on and an orange-red shade of lipstick. Spray perfume and I am ready to go.

“What took you so long?” Vyra rolled her eyes at me when I get out of my room.

“Shut up! Just because you’re ready years ago.”

“Let’s go!”

My brothers are not home. Liam is at work, and Nico is in his own world.

I told the Mayordoma that we are going out. I grab the keys from Liam’s safe and gave them to Vyra.

I know how to drive a car, but I let Vyra. I don’t want to get a beating from Liam if he knows I drove one of his cars. At least if it is Vyra, whatever she does, Liam has nothing to say.

Ok, I’m running away from his anger. However, it is Vyra’s idea so I’m not guilty.

And the way she is heading is not the way to the mall. I feel like it is better to stay at home and listen to Liam’s scolding.

“Where are we going? You said to the mall?” I didn’t show how irritated I was. Like hello? If she is planning to die due to what happened last night between her and Liam, don’t involve me.

She didn’t answer, instead, she focused on the road as if she was the only one in the car.

I zipped my mouth and silently prayed for my safety. Dude, she’s scarier than Liam when she’s silent like this!

After almost an hour of driving, we arrived at a resort. There are a lot of people walking back and forth from a distance. Vyra parked the car near the dike.

I step out of the car and a strong cold sea breeze welcomes my face. If I hadn’t put my hair on a braided bun, for sure, I will look like a hag.

“This was once our property. I miss hanging out here with my so-called friends,” she said and laugh bitterly.

“We’re supposed to go shopping, right?” I reminded her.

“Oh yeah! There is this famous mall around the area. Let’s go!” she said and lead the way.

This place is famous for a reason. Everything here is like a dream come true to every girl. From dresses to shoes, jewelry, and cosmetics, they are of the best quality.

After a long tiring shopping moment, we decided to grab dinner in a fancy restaurant.

“Argh! We should at least have a made with us to help us with all those shopping bags!” I complained.

“It’s ok. We already solved the problem. Stop complaining!” she said.

She shamelessly asked a stranger to help us carry some of the paper bags. The management of the mall said that they lack men to help us, so we have no choice but to be on our own.

We are busy enjoying our food when my phone vibrates. It was a message from Liam asking where I was.

“It’s past seven. Want to go to the bar?”

“Are you freaking serious?! Bar? Liam will get angry if he finds out.”

She raised her brow at me and drink her red wine as if she was saying “I don’t give a damn.”

“We are already nineteen years old- a legal age. We can go now!” she said and continue with her food.

I am weighing the situation in my mind.

I want to help Vyra with her situation, but I’m afraid Liam will disown me. I am one hell of an overthinking lady!

I can imagine Liam closing my bank accounts for defying him to this extent.

“I don’t think that it’s a good idea. I’d rather go home now than go to the bar,” I said. I have to convince her to go home now. She will drive the car and we can’t afford to drive under the influence of alcohol.

That’s quite frightening!

“Oh, come on! Just tonight, please?”

Despite how teary-eyed she is, or how much she begs, I won’t budge.

“Nope! No way. No bar, ok?”

“YOU KNOW I love when the music starts but only you can dance with me…”

Where has my resolve gone to?

After all my serious tone, saying “no bar,” here I am sipping on my glass of beer. I know from the very tart that Vyra only brings trouble for me. I shouldn’t be carried away!

If I am not a good person and I didn’t know that she had a problem with Liam, I won’t agree.

I silently bid goodbye to my allowance.

I noticed Vyra drink quite a lot from her drinks. I don’t know what it was called. I can tell that whatever she is drinking hit her head by now. She looks like she was just trying to open her eyes.

I recorded a video of her so I can laugh at her. This will be her payment just in case this situation got worse.

After a few moments, I invited her to leave the place. We will book a room in the nearest hotel. But she didn’t even move an inch from her seat.

“Vyra, let’s go!” Thrilled, I pull her up.

She is like a withered vegetable. But I didn’t expect that her emaciated body, had a sack of rice hiding.

“You’re heavy. Stand up straight, will you?!”

She still refuses to comply. I have no choice but to call Liam.

“Self, I’m sorry,” I whispered to myself as I dialed Liam’s number.
