《Chasing the Mist》A Bewidering Place

~ In front of you I am an open book, a book you helped to write~

"After you milady "flashing her a boyish grin he extends an arm to lead her out.

Feeling infected by his bright aura, though her face remained unmoved, she accepted his show of chivalry and answered in amusement.

"Why thank you, good sir" designer shoes step onto the busy streets of Sprikson city.

As befitting of such a large city, people were hustling and bustling through the streets to complete their various businesses. As they both stood on the sidewalk, a delivery boy speeds past them causing the few loose tendrils from Andriet's bun to sway wildly, his legs creating a blur as he breaks who knows how many speed violations to make his delivery. Workers walking on their way to lunch quickly dodged out of the way, while those overhead calmly continued their suspended commute. Being the capital of Gi, one of Elematai's four sectors, many tourists and stores from the other sectors and countries were visible everywhere in Sprikson.

"I need to make my 1:30 appointment" Andriet makes clear bending back her head to look up at the man behind her, who stood at 6ft 2inches.

The man looks at the little lady staring at him, the meaning in her amber eyes clear.

'Well, hurry now I'm a busy woman'

He gives her an amused smile and simply grasps her waist and starts walking. Andriet lets him lead without question, her feet go on autopilot as she thinks about the reason behind her upcoming meeting.

'Stupid, stupid, idiots. Complete and utter wastes of oxygen. Argh, I didn't work hard to be this rich so I would end up cleaning up after others.'

No one would guess that inside the mind of the emotionless and serene faced woman walking by was a tirade of curses, expressing the utmost of frustration.

No one but the man in front, who took a quick peek at her and simply smiled even wider, the corner of his mouth twitching. His sudden warm smile made a group of girls sitting by the window of a café enraptured.

The man wasn't grinning because of the frustration visible on her face to him but unnoticeable by others but because he knows that despite her dissatisfactions and 'curses', she is way too well-mannered and won't actually say any explicit curse words, even in her own mind. He is just imagining the cute way and funny words she is using to express her ire.

Andriet of course did not know she caused the man to be beside himself in amusement, and if she did, it would just make her more irritated.

'That bloke, to use my frustration as his joy' would probably be her thought.

'Hah, how could they have completely mixed up the files which they were to bring to the garment factory. Not only did it cost us a potential business partner, we almost had to pause the release of our new line. They ought to be squashed by the new moon'

Andriet sighs in her mind. The only outward sign of her frustration was the return of the tiny crease between her brows.

'That son of a motherless kruzerjer should be grateful it wasn't a long-term partner and just a trial one and that his daughter in HR actually found another garment factory or else I would have had him shave of that bloody goatee that hurts my eyes each day'

As she continued cursing marketing team two's manager, she realized they had stopped and had unknowingly reached their destination. She looks at the man doubtfully, wondering why he just stood there and didn't mention they had arrived.

The Cheshire just smiled "finished cursing off your employees?"

Without answering, she simply rolled her eyes and turned to look at where they would eat lunch, but that one look made her stunned.

A TREE! It was a tree. On the street of this metropolitan city there sat as if in its rightful place, a tree. The tree was almost as big as Andriet's 150 feet company building, and its branches were long and seemed elastic as they coiled beautifully around its thick trunk and up into the sky, each adorn by vibrant green leaves that seemed to glisten under the sun's rays, a beautiful work of nature. The only weird thing about the tree (other than that it's in the middle of a city) was the door at the bottom that fitted perfectly as if it grew on the tree just like that. She looked to the left of the colossal tree and then to the right, both sides were occupied by the up-down city buildings Sprikson city was known for. Andriet looks behind her and the bustling busy streets enter her sight, then she looks back at the still and serene tree.

'What the...'

Fwip

'Well, don't just enjoy my confusion, explain'

He could clearly interpret what the eyes of the woman who looked back at him were saying even without her speaking, he was well trained by how little she actually spoke. Was it because of her indifferent personality or was she simply too lazy to move her mouth, who knows?

Emerald eyes expressed both exasperation and amusement as he leads her in the tree's direction, which displayed intricacies on its truck, limbs and leaves as one drew closer.

"Didn't I say I'm bringing you to lunch? Let's go." was all the answer he gave.

Hand in hand the pair walked towards the oval door of the 'tree' and he turns the knob and pushes the door to enter, the veins on his slender hand become faintly visible because of his movement.

Andriet observes the scene before her and that iceberg of a face seemed to have moved a bit, her lashes blinking doubly for a moment. She almost let go of his hand to go outside so she could check the exterior of the tree again. The inside of the restaurant (she finally confirmed this is a place to eat looking at the menu written beautifully on the blackboard right at the entrance) seemed far larger than what the outside suggests even with its large size and as they both moved further in, she got a clear view of what seemed to be the first floor. There was a counter across from where a few tables and two booths were and by the looks of it there were more floors above, as a small staircase was at the edge of the floor. The restaurant's walls and furniture were all covered in the same intricate design as the tree's exterior and the only source of lighting were dome shaped lights on the ceilings and in the center of the tables. Andriet felt a hazy yet calming feeling being inside of this place.

While she carried out her observation, she was led up a short stair and to the counter by the satisfied man. He accomplished his goal of bringing her here when he saw her shocked expression as she entered.

"Welcome to Relevium Resturant, my name is Xirenia, table for two?" the cheery voice of the young girl behind the counter rang out and seemed to add a touch of life to the serene atmosphere.
