Chapter 147 – Will of Protection 7
The Small fort opened up its defenses. The Guards on the fort along with a few adventurers take up their weapon as they escorted the Magus's that would rose up the earth walls around the open fields. There was about four of them working on each corner of the open fields.
Peronell went out to the open fields. A magus of earth raised a vantage point for her to snipe the creatures trying to kill the desperate survivors still fighting on the ruined building lined streets. Down below, Ramiel readied his crossbow repeater while being strapped with oil flasks and Molotov’s.
The earth magus’s started their job. They raised the four towers on each corner of the open fields while maintaining their mana in check. For them to create earth walls that could cover the whole open fields it would take quite a while. They are dependent on the protection of the guards around them.
“They are coming!”
A soldier shouted as he saw the wave of lesser beings that are approaching the open fields. Seeing the monsters, the adventurers heaved a deep breathed. There were at least two giant lesser beings coming at them. They were humanoid shape but they were far grotesque. As if the monsters consuming the people it killed and turning them into a part of their body.
They feared for a while but seeing a bolt of light hurling at the giant beast decapitating it instantly made them awake from their fear. Peronell’s flare bolt was quite bright it took care of the lesser being with just one shot. This made the adventurer's morale go sky high.
“She is with us! We can win this!”
The people around invigorated themselves as they started defending themselves against the lesser beings. The Captain watching the scene grinned as he fills himself with energy charging along with his men. The Bishop casted multiple hallowed arrows in support for the adventurers, hitting multiple targets at once.

Ramiel stayed still on his position under guard. He keeps his eyes still while pointing his crossbow repeater around anything that moves near the vantage point where Peronell is shooting her bolts. Ramiel was rather committed at the moment, his focus was even more than the time he would obsessively learn spells. He was kneeling on one knee, this way he was much more accurate.
The others were glancing at Ramiel doing nothing but staying there. They saw him following Peronell everywhere and just thought that he was her guard. They didn’t think much of him other than a guard dog. So they mostly ignored Ramiel.
Ramiel could feel like there were people staring at him for just staying still but he didn’t care about them. He just wanted to protect Peronell that is why he is here. He watches the battlefield carefully. His eyes scanning at anything that moves.
He wasn’t that strong so he was paranoid and extra careful. He knows his limits and he doesn’t know if he could properly attack anything that is much faster than him.
...
The battle raged on the open fields. Spells, bolts of arrows, and clashing of flesh and sword sounded out. The battlefield was getting bloody, as time goes on the people fighting were slowly tiring out. Causalities were happening everywhere and the earth magus’s can only grit their teeth as they continue their casting.
So far the warp gates that summoned the monsters have been sending waves of the enemy towards them. Ramiel has taken down only three grim beings. They were mostly injured so he had no problem killing them with his repeater crossbow. But even with the crossbow, he could not do any worthwhile damage. At the moment he has run out of any bolts to fire making his crossbow useless.

Peronell who was on top of the earth tower created in the middle wasn’t tiring out. To conserve her mana she used simple seeking bolts that are powered by the energy around her. This was a natural skill for magick arches and with her elven bloodline, Peronell could pull a magical bolt of the arrow without using her mana. She could only use her mana to fire heavy area of effect attacks for now.
The lesser beings were quite a handful. They didn’t stop even though their limps were disposed and killing their core can only kill them. The Adventurers and Guards were having a hard time-fighting. Most of them were injured yet they stood still simply because of the effort of the priests and Peronell who could dispatch the far stronger beings.
Blood and sweat covered the guards, the normal folks who aren’t even fighters also joined in for their survival. Their goal was to help the other folks and at the moment they manage to take in two hundred people already. Their goal was close and with earth magus slowly carving walls around the open fields. Success is in sight.
Peronell was quite tired. She was having a hard time doing multiple shots with how spent her mana is. She used some of the items she has to recover her mana. She was wavering, but she stood tall.
“What is that?”
Her eyes saw a ten feet tall abomination walking out. Seeing this, she immediately shouted at the guards to move and for the Magus of earth’s to cast faster. She cursed inwardly, draw her conjured bow as she shot a giant glare of bolt that somehow manages to push the abomination back.
Her mana was spent. And knowing this, she can only grit her teeth, thinking that she might have to dispatch the abomination within close combat. But before she can even summon her set of conjured daggers to light, she saw the abomination get slashed repeatedly by figures clothed in black.
Wielding sabers, these black mantled figures with hoods dispatched the creature immediately. Peronell recognized the clothing of these figures and was quite a relief.
“IT’S THE INQUISITION!”
One of the people in the fields shouted in glee at the arrival of the King’s Inquisition. These figures are the elite forces of the kingdom. Willing pawns that could even repel the undead girdled dragon, they are great fighters that the King commands.
So as they arrive the open fields was undoubtedly saved.
