Chapter 92 – Far Enemies
Zhula’s raid went by fast, within a week the walls of the Lugenstan City have been slowly crumbling. But due to a single existence blocking the way, Zhula wasn’t able to truly conquer the city. Impasse, the war between the Lugenstan’s and the Goraz Barbarians has come to a halt.
Zhula gazes upon the city walls while standing on a wooden platform. This platform is used as an observation point for her to use. Upon her eyes, she could see the blood stained walls of Lugenstan. Fire coats the walls and she could see the falling stones.
On top of the wall, there is a black haired woman with her eyes glowing red. This woman was someone that the soldiers of the city called as Regina’s half. According to the soldiers, Regina’s Half was someone who was originally part of the Demoness, the Original Witch. It is unknown how many ‘witch’ is there but one thing for sure is that the ‘Regina Witches’ are troublesome.
Zhula herself is troubled by one of the witches. If it wasn’t for the Regina that guards the city walls then Zhula would have captured the city by now. It irritates Zhula that such being is here in the City. But as her duty is important, Zhula could not give up here.
“War Leader!”
A voice sounded out behind Zhula’s back. The Wind’s howling was quite wild but the immense voice of the caller made Zhula hear the voice.
“Speak.”
“The Bone ballista’s are ready, Should we strike the Witch now?”
“Wait for the witch to tire out. She isn’t the only threat in that damned city.”
“Very well, I shall relay thy commands to the ballista men!”
The voice disappeared. Zhula stood unflinching in the wooden platform with an unbroken will. Her long black curly hair along with her fur cape fluttered behind her back. The dust around her was quite thick, but she got used to it. Her people are rather quick to adapt to the weather. If there is anything that they are superior to any other race, it would be their constitution and strength.

Zhula herself can endure a lot of weight and pain. Despite being in a higher order in her tribe, there was not once she sat on her home being a burden. She hunts with her tribesmen and with her tenacity she earned her right to become a War Leader trusted by Al-Goraz himself.
Closing her eyes for a bit to redeem her fighting will, Zhula gazes upon at the sky and felt the vitality of the air around her permeate her body. A barbarian worships nature as much as the Elvens. But unlike the Elvens, the Barbarians don’t have any problems with hurting ‘nature’. The Elvens would be outraged if ‘nature’ is hurt badly in front of their eyes, though lately, that fanaticism has been withering for an unknown reason.
After letting the energy of the wild world strengthened her. Zhula draws her bone spear and shouted loudly enough for the barbarians around her to hear.
“FIRE THE BALLISTAS!”
With that single command the arrows from the ballista’s fire upon the Regina Witch protecting the walls of Lugenstan. The arrows flew like lightning, breaking the air as it then pierces upon the defenses of the witch. The side of witch got torn apart and flesh could be seen falling away from her body.
Zhula smiled at the result of that barrage. And as she was about to see the Witch get hit again by the ballista’s arrow, she saw a figure flash and protect the witch, a burly man with a beard, wielding a greatsword too thick, and too heavy even for a human to wield that easily.
This man stared at the direction where Zhula is at. This man then grabs a spear on the ground and with a quick throw, the spear flew towards Zhula with a dangerous speed. Zhula frowned at the sight of that the throw but with her bone spear, she deflected it easily.

Her strength wasn’t just for show. She was quite threatened by that throw but she decided to instead let the ballista’s do their job. She wasn’t an honorable fool that would allow the guild master of the Fighter’s Guild get away. She knows that only the Guild Master can wield that kind of greatsword with ease. She has no illusions that it will hit the guild master but even so, it doesn’t hurt for her to try and kill one of the threats.
Her scouts have already warned her of the Guild Master of the Fighter’s Guild who once trek the dungeon continent. She knows that this man despite his age has been through a lot of battles that she herself would find it quite a while to win.
The Guild Master has already past his prime. But Zhula knows that a man like that is the most dangerous. Past his prime, he may be, but he would be as ferocious as cornered beast if his life is near its end. So for now, Zhula didn’t dare to underestimate her prey.
“At ease...let the old beast go.”
Zhula commanded her forces to stand down. They still have time so she was in no rush to fasten the battle. In her mind, a battle needs to be dealt with focus and patience. Thus, she like a good hunter, she didn’t dare to hasten things.
“I will have this city and your head old beast.”
Zhula muttered.
And as she was about to turn her head back, she saw a pair of dead eyes glance at her on top of the wall. His gray hair fluttering along, this man who was pale as a ghost looked at Zhula as if she was nothing important to the world.
Then this ghost-like man turns his head and followed the Guild Master who is carrying the half dead witch that got shot by the ballista’s of her barbarians.
The figures on top of the wall disappeared. And as Zhula loosens her stare at the wall, she thought of that odd dead-eyed man that looked like he didn’t belong to the world.

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
