Chapter 48 – Favor

Ramiel went to the house of the lady of Argos. Arriving in the place, he saw Gundry working up on some documents. He didn’t even bother to reply to Ramiel’s greetings as he walked past him.

He arrived at the lady’s room. It was the same scene as usual. Ramiel went to the lady, told him about what he wanted. The lady frowned at Ramie, a raised brow; the lady said to Ramiel that he wanted a favor.

“Can you please take care of something? I know that this is a dangerous request but do not fret about it. Gundry already told me that this item is just near the farmlands. So it should be safe to travel there. Also, you will be accompanied by some guards who are leaving.”

Ramiel thought that it was a dangerous request. He doesn’t want to ever leave the town but the lady continued:

“Can you please do it? Also, it shouldn’t be that hard.”

“But...” Ramiel mumbled.

“Can you please do this once? It should be okay. Also, can you please allow me to view that tool? How does it work? Can you please teach me?”

“Ah, sure.”

Ramie didn’t know why but something about wanting to get the trust of the lady popped inside his head. He told the lady how the camera functions and also added out how it gets powered up. The Battery charger used the sun, and Ramiel heavily specified that once the battery dies out, the lady should point the charger into the sun and charge the battery.

The lady was quite a great learner. She understood the functions and even made it able for to use the camera as if natural. Ramiel tilted his head and complimented the lady about it. The lady was quite nonchalant about the comment; she just ignored it and played the camera like a child.

Ramiel warned the lady about the camera. He doesn’t want to see it break and since it is his last connection to the world he once lived. Seeing it go, along with all those memories would break Ramiel’s heart. So he steadily warned the lady, and that he wouldn’t be able to live with it if something happened to it.

The lady understood Ramiel so she showed him a spell that allows protection on the item. A preservation spell and a bit of trick in alchemy or so what the lady calls it.

It would make the camera last longer. She also applied to the solar charger and relieved Ramiel of his worries. She told him:

“Can you please not worry? I am not that dumb to break something ‘precious’ to you. Also can you please go do the favor I am asking you?”

“But milady, that item is precious to me. Losing it would make feel empty, so please I am begging you not to somehow destroy it during the time I am lending it to you.”

“Can you please stop treating me like some child that would smash her toys?”

“But-“

“Can you please?”

“Okay, milady. I will not worry. But still please take good care of it.”

Ramiel said with a lowered head. He then glances at the camera once again before taking a deep breath. He said:

“Okay then. I will be taking back the camera soon milady. Please take care of it for now.”

“Oh, I will...also can you please tell Gundry to come over to my room? I would like him to assist me to the garden to take ‘pictures’ of the flowers.”

“I will milady”

Ramiel said while walking out of the door. He went down the stairs and approached Gundry. He told him:

“Milady said she wants to be assisted to the garden.”

“Understood...”

Gundry understood Ramiel’s rough words. As he leaves, Ramiel who was left behind in the living room looked pleased.

...

Outside the house, Ramiel looked upon the skies with half closed eyes. He muttered inconceivable words and suck in cold air. The nobles who were idling in the streets, socializing with their fellow nobles looked oddly at Ramiel. They are quite used to him, so they didn’t bother to care anymore about Ramiel.

Ramiel walked out of the high-class district. He strides along the business street with his hands in his pocket. Around him was the same busy crowd bartering with the merchants who takes care of their stalls.

The Wind blew upon the street, which carried orange leaves. The merchants protected their merchandises while Ramiel stopped and looked at the flying leaves. He admired it as he continues walking along the street.

As he walks he spotted Desha holding a little girl’s hand. Ramiel waved his hand towards Desha and asked timidly about the Inn. Desha then told him that Felli closed the Inn early due to some news. It seems to be important that it made Felli kicked the patrons out.

It was a mess according to Desha. So since there was nothing she can do, Desha went out early and decided to roam around with her little sister. They were going to buy some rag doll, which Desha promised. Ramiel who heard the rather caring tone Desha had. He could not help but tease Desha, making her say:

“I never knew that you had this side.”

After Desha said that, she bid Ramiel goodbye telling him: “See you again in the Inn Ramiel” And then she left along with her sister.

Ramiel who saw Desha happily skipped with her little sister smiled a bit. As he walks towards the gates, he noticed the healer Delo carrying a basket of herbs. Ramiel approached Delo and spoke towards him.

Delo got surprised and patted Ramiel’s shoulder. He complimented him for learning to speak the language and then after that Delo bid Ramiel goodbye.

Ramiel saw Delo walk out of his sight. He then walks near the gates, but he stopped for a while. He gulped for a while and prayed to whatever God there is to make him safe.

He then left the town.
