Chapter 37 - Good Days

Ramiel walked alongside Desha along the business streets.

The Street, as usual, was busy as a beehive. People were buying various merchandises, and many were bartering with incredibly loud voices.

The day was already dim yet there are still a lot of people.

Guards patrol the corners of the streets, constantly hounding the citizens. Mostly wearing chain mail, and wielding spears. These patrolling guards and their presence, makes the streets feel safe. Of course, some of the nimble hands roam the streets. But lately, it barely happens that they got pickpocket someone.

Ramiel waited for Desha to be done shopping. He wasn't great in handling such matter, so he left it to Desha to take care. He followed her through various stalls. As he does, Ramiel's eyes keep on pointing in many directions. He is wearing the same cloak as usual, and his hair flutters in contact with the wind.

It has been three months since Ramiel arrived at this world. His hair was longer now and he got a bit leaner due to poverty. Unlike in his world where he could just laze it off, in this world, Ramiel has become a hard working man that his father probably wanted him to be.

Not because of realization, but through desperation. If he doesn't work then he wouldn't be able to eat. Plus, he wouldn't be able to buy his needs.

It has been a long time already. Hence, Ramiel, who is following Desha, could not help but smile wearily at the thought of home.

He walked steadily behind Desha's back.

Desha noticed Ramiel's being quiet.

"Are you okay?"

Desha spoke.

"I am."

Ramiel was able to understand that phrase. So he replied as he was able to.

Desha nodded when she heard his reply. She continued moving along various stalls picking up the items that Felli wanted. The two were ordered by Felli to shop. She usually does this personally but since Felina, her cat was acting up. She ordered the two to get the items.

Ramiel and Desha didn't have a choice in the matter.

And it wasn't a bother for them anyway.

Desha saunter through the stalls.

Ramiel followed her tail.

It was peaceful in the streets despite the crowd.

The two were busy buying things for Felli.

When suddenly, a crier carrying a roll of parchment steps in a wooden box and cried out:

"By the order of the Lord of the Town, I have been ordered to relay these words upon all of you; there have been various cases of missing protégés, and locals happening in the area. It would be advice not to dwell upon the outskirts of the town. For various slavers who work upon kidnapping might dwell upon the area. So be advise not fall into the hands of evil."

The crier finished his loud proclamation. The people who heard it slightly frown at the announcement of the crier who was speaking on behalf of the Lord of the Town.

The crier then started speaking again.

"What a bad luck."

Desha spoke in annoyance as she heard the announcement of the crier.

Ramiel titled his head in question at the words of the crier. He could not understand the crier's words and only some of the words marked inside his head.

I wonder what that was about.

He then followed Desha through the troublesome stalls as usual without any hint.

Desha whose brows are crease continued shopping. But there was a bit of change in her pace, and it could be said that Desha was alarmed by the words of the crier.

She has a family in the Town of Tal. So it was natural for her to worry about such matters.

For Ramiel, there was no inch of worry in him.

Not because he has no fear, but simply because he wasn't able to understand.

He still has long ways to go before he could fully understand the language spoken throughout these lands. So far, his language skills are on par with a toddler learning its phrases.

The two continued on shopping until they bought everything they need. With all the items in their hands, the two moved out of the business street and head back to the Orient Inn.

Arriving at the Orient Inn, the two spotted the various customers entering the Inn. They hurry up and entered the Inn. Spotted by Felli, she immediately beacons the two to get to work. Ramiel and Desha nodded both of their heads and immediately started working again.

The Mugs clashes with each other.

The sound of chewing echoed around the four corners of the Inn. Along with it was the sound of chugging, and burping. Bantering was heard everywhere.

The Kitchen behind the bar's counter was making noises as usual.

Two employees working for the Inn carried on their task of bringing the dishes to the customers.

The two work on their jobs without complaining.

The patrons of the Inn stared at the workers.

They didn't mind the young one serving them drinks.

The perverted ones stared at the young damsel's curvatures.

While the female drunks that went in from their jobs gladly looked at the sweating young man whose gray hair flutters as he goes and by.

Then, in the corner of the room, a man wearing a black robe gaze upon the gray-haired one, his face was scarred. Covered in black, the silent man just steadily gazes upon the gray-haired worker until his drink was empty.

This man was scouting.

And as the man was done sipping the contents of his wine.

He left the Orient Inn.
