Chapter 18 – Normality
Facing the healer named Delo made Ramiel felt uncomfortable. Why? Simply because of the odd methods that the healer does to cure his illness, from poking his swollen throat, to wiping an itchy salve that did nothing. The Healer Delo was indeed capable, hence despite his healing magic unable to work. He managed to concoct two balls of pills that would allow his infection to be cured.
The problem now is that Ramiel has to pay up fifty silver coins a day to have the pills. Ramiel, who has no choice, decided to suck it up and buy the medicine. Felli didn’t pay for Ramiel. It was his problem, and if Felli pays him, then he would be practically working for free.
Felli understood that she can just treat Ramiel as some sort of unpaid worker. But as she believes that Karma will get her. She decided to step back, and let Ramiel handle his problem. He may be practically a mute, but he isn’t a baby. He can take care of himself, and Felli has no reason to help that much. She hired him because she needs him in her Inn. She has known Ramiel for not even a month, and in this world where things can be rather harsh. And people die suddenly; it takes time for her to actually care that much towards Ramiel.
She has seen a lot of her friends die. Many people have died in front of her in her thirty years of life. So when meeting new people, she likes to take a step back and observe the person. And at the moment, when Ramiel is having this sort of troubles, she would like to see if he manages or not.
Felli prefers her friends to be long-lived.
It may harsh but she isn’t that obligated to help someone she barely knows. She doesn’t even know what Ramiel’s true self is when he can’t even speak. So for now, she will just observe on how Ramiel will live on.

Ramiel, who was being observed by his boss, guessed that Felli has no intention of helping. He thought that it is normal to do so. So without a choice, he has to find a way to somehow keep this swollen throat of his from causing a problem.
I guess life isn’t that easy, especially in this crap sack world. Ramiel thought. If it was easy, then he probably wouldn’t start as some beggar in the street.
I guess there is just no smooth sailing. Ramiel stared at the rows of books on top of Delo’s head. There is an abyss as the books reflect upon his eyes.
Pointing his eyes at the healer, Ramiel brought his meager fortune and bought the pills. It caused him most of the coins he earned working for the Inn. Accepting the pills, he thanked the Healer through gestures and stood up. Felli, who looked at the gloomy Ramiel crossed her arms and gestured Ramiel to follow him. Ramiel nodded, and as they were about to leave, Felli stopped, pointed at his neck and gestured for him to cover it up.
Ramiel covered it and then followed Felli out.
...
Outside the snow started falling again. The cold winds coming from the sea made it much colder. Not to mention, that the blow of the winds makes the snow covered streets of Tal form a mist. The streets are now hardly visible. But even so, Felli and Ramiel walked along the road just by following the street lamps.
They were fueled by the guards as the snow started falling. The roads may look misty, but the light shines upon the road, making a way. The people of Tal followed the light. Ramiel wasn’t really interested in the environment as he was more focus on the fact that he needs to earn more money.

He can at least get money working at the Inn. But even so, he would only be able to buy a meager amount. So at the moment, he thought up that he should at least buy pills that are worth four days. Ramiel thinks that his throat is some bacterial infection, so taking those pills until it is all gone might suffice. He is not so sure since he isn’t some doctor nor he actually looked up these kinds of things.
If I knew I would somehow get transported into this world then I would have read up more.
It is normal for a teenager like him not to read stuff. He spent most of his days listening to class, playing computer games with his friends and mostly sleeping. Ramiel really wasn’t some honor student that would somehow just open a book about medicines or metallurgy because of reasons. He might open them if there is some research assignment that needs to be done. But never would he somehow miraculously remember all of them.
Ramiel was normal. That is why when faced with his current circumstances. He felt worried and saddened. He isn’t some special person with a mind of steel.
Snow sure is cold. I remember that it was still summer when I board that cruise ship. Well, I guess the seasons don’t match at all here.
Ramiel thought while following behind Felli. His hands in his pocket, he steadily marches along the snow-filled road until he and Felli reached the Inn. As they got closer to the Inn, a figure was leaning just by the door. Felli, who was the first one to spot the figure, moved towards the person and greeted him.
“Julian? Why are you here?”
“I got some business.”
“Is that so? I thought you would already reach Gayan by now.”
“I was but since I caught something interesting I immediately went back to return it.”
“Good Heavens.” Felli made a weary smile. “You sure make everything easy. I wish I have your legs.”
“Sorry to say but that dungeon is long gone Felli.”
“Whatever, so have you return what you intend to return?”
“Nope, that is why I am here.”
“Does it belong to one my guests?”
“Yeah, it probably belongs to him.”
Julian pointed at Ramiel who was idly standing. Noticing that Julian is pointing at him, Ramiel tilted his head in surprise.

8 179HUD: Wargame (Sci-Fi GameLit)
★★★★★UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!!!!!! "HUD: Wargame is a sci-fi GameLit worth reading." -TienSwitch ★★★★★Rock-solid FPS GameLit. "Nic - the main character - is an ambitious, hyper-competitive perfectionist, and the story fortunately handles him correctly in that it does not push these traits too far." -Akaso ★★★★★This is a good one! "This is one of those stories where you read the first few paragraphs and can just tell that the author has the chops to tell a story. It's engaging and the rules are well thought out and clearly explained. The action is punchy and exciting. Anyway, read it." -HonourRae In the future, everything is a game. Even war. 18-year-old Nic Sigfried wants the high score. Virtually piloting a real-life robot, he'll face off against his peers with the help of his AI guidance system, RTIFIS. The prize? New worlds across the galaxy that are ripe for human conquest and terraforming. It sounds glamorous on paper, but this job might be more dangerous than he thought... HUD: Wargame is the first of a five-part sci-fi series featuring GameLit elements. HUD: Wargame contains some (simulated) violence and very sparing PG-13 profanity. Updates Monday-Thursday-Saturday.
