《The Inhabitants》Chapter 9. A Good Place to Sleep

Lando walked towards the warehouse to look for items that could be used. After all he left his mining equipment outside because it was too conspicuous. Lando only had a few packs of coal with him.
Lando arrived at the warehouse, but after wandering around he didn't find much to use. Lando couldn't find the weaponry or plantation tools he wanted. Perhaps those things are stored somewhere else. Lando only found a pile of cloth inside. He actually also found a saw and a small hammer, but the saw was too thin and flexible and the hammer too small to do any damage. Lando wasn't sure he could use it as weapon. Finally Lando and find a place to hide.
Soon a commotion broke out. The guards ran for help. The two bigest barn caught fire. A guard exited the main building with Anderson and they walked towards the fire site. Lando took advantage of the commotion to sneak into the main building.
Lando already memorized every part of the main building and quickly arrived at the master room. At first Lando was worried about meeting Elisa inside, but apparently no one was there. Lando then began his search. He always felt that Elisa kept a gun in this room. Unfortunately, despite searching all over the place, Lando couldn't find it. Lando only found a storage made of special wood wich harder than ordinary wood. Lando didn't touch it for now, he didn't want to arouse suspicion by breaking something.
Lando went into the kitchen and grabbed some knives. He also made sure a few things were in the kitchen before walking into another room.
Lando arrived at a room that was quite spacious, more than 50 square meters. There are 10 pairs of bunk beds. This room is similar to a child's bed in the orphanage, but on a larger scale. Lando walked around the room, locking the windows and ventilation holes above it. The ventilation holes do have a cover because when it rains water can flow in.

After making sure there were no more openings other than the door, Lando roasted the coals placed under some of beds. Lando learned this metode while in the mine. He discovered that when coals were roasted, they could produce toxic gases that damage the lungs. Ordinary people would experience shortness of breath after a while inhaling the poisonous gas.
Lando then went into a wardrobe and waited for the guards who were exhausted after putting out the fire to rest. From the start, Lando had not only intended to kill Anderson. He wanted to destroy him.
Meanwhile, in another location, the fire has been controlled. Anderson stood watching his men and workers busy pulling the cattle away. There were also some who were carrying water to water the surrounding area of the burning barns. Anderson could only prevent the fire from spreading and allow what was already burning to burn out.
'Now that i think about it, what was the purpose of setting fire to the barns?' Anderson's heart felt that something was wrong. 'If this is an attack, it shouldn't just stop at the barns. Maybe this is a distraction?'
Anderson immediately went to the armory. This armory was in a place quite far from the main building of Wilburg house. From the outside, this armory looks like a small building, but inside there are 8 guards each turn who even under any circumstances they had to stay on guard. Inside there is an entrance to the underground which was the real armory room. There were about 50 soldiers in it. They are part of the army guarding around the village who is reporting or restocking weapons. This was where the Hindibel government arms center in the city and Anderson's responsibility now.
Anderson questioned the soldiers on guard, but they said they didn't find anything out of the ordinary. He also got the same answer from the soldiers serving inside. Anderson left feeling uneasy. He then went to the main building, the front gate, and several corners of the fence. All the same, Anderson didn't find any major happened.

Anderson never thought the culprit was Lando. A few days ago he heard that Lando had died from one of his people at the orphanage. Lando reportedly committed suicide after someone found his trace entering the forbidden mine.
Meanwhile, Lando was lying on a comfortable pile of cloth in the closet. Lando felt sleepy after a few days of not sleeping. He didn't know that people he knew thought he was dead.

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
