Chapter 4
Do you want a Sword, Shield or Skill Book?
I thought for a while and rubbed my head. “Gods this a tough pick” I sighed deeply and ‘grinned’ a bit “well might as well go all out and test my luck. There a reason my friends back in the bad called me ‘The Lucky Bastard’ for getting drops.” I chuckled a bit as a picked the Skill Book. A Bright flash of light and then in my hand was a thick leather bound book, it looked old but well made. I slowly turned it around slowly and the use identify on it.
Book of Repair
Well this can be useful, well let learn it.
Do you with to learn? Y/N
“Yes” as soon as I said it the booked crumbled in to dust and a window popped up.
SkillsName:Description:RankEXPRepairIncrease durability of a items in exchange for mana.
Base cost 10 magic points X item Rank for + 1.
You cannot repair an item above your own skill lvlBasic 10%prerequest:Magic Stat , must have basic knowledge of item material and structure.
I thought to myself as I then took out my copper sword.
“Repair!” I said firmly and started to feel a bit dizzy, it felt like blood being drained out of me, even thought I do not have any. After a short while, the feeling stopped and I then checked my sword over. The blade looked a bit better; it no longer hand any bends in it, the color looked newer and even the blade edged looked sharper.
Old Copper Sword.Attack:DurabilityQualityRank37 / 10PoorFBonuses:NoneDetails:A ancient sword made a long time ago.
Heirloom of a long forgotten empire.
I mused some I shrugged some and waited till my mana was full before using repair again to max out the durability of my sword. I am glad that I know how sword are, otherwise Repair would likely been of no use; how many people in this world know how cold beaten copper can be used as a weapon beside a black smith. I was glad for my love of sword from before I died, although now I might need to learn from sword smith for the metals and sword forging methods I do not know that excised here. Thinking some I had better top off my sword for safely and to earn a little exp on repair skill. Having deiced, I once again felt as if I was bleeding out and dizzy for the moment. Once I recovered, I started to walk to the entrance and down the stairs slowly.

While walking i noticed that my body returned to normal while I was fixing my sword, the chip and broken parts slowly returned to their normal ‘whole’ state once the fight was over. I thought maybe it was it a system to I could not cheat but could at least carry on as a hero once the fight was over, or where all undead like that. As I looked around the more things I had questions on, I real hoped I could get answer one day on some of this. However I not going to complain, since I was not that ragged looking after fighting that black rat.
Once I entered the new room, I looked inside and saw..
Giant Black Rat lvl 4
I watched it for a short while, noting how this one a bit smaller and had no spikes sticking out of it fur. I took a fragment of stone and threw it away from me making a small sound, which the rat turned to see what was going on. I raised my sword and quickly moved in as it was distracted and hack at it tail. With a loud squeak, it jumped and twisted around facing me. I saw a bleed effect started as a -4 popped up while I backed up. I thought as I lifted my sword up till parallel with the ground and started at the rat as it closed in on me. ”Fury thrust” I said out loud as I felt a tug deep inside of me while black mist wrapped around the blade just before I stepped forward and stabbed it in to the rats throat with all I had. I large red -12 flashed and the rat started to roll some, I walked over and quickly slashed it throat to finish the rat and sighed. I sat down once I hacked off it tail and added it to my collection, my gamer sense of hoarding kicking in a bit.

I sighed and checked me pack for any holes before moving down deeper in to the crypt. There were a few side rooms now, maybe family areas or something? I sensed first before peeking around checking for rats, there were a few small ones but they number of them seem to be decreasing the deeper I got. However, the large brown and now black rats become normal.
I fought a few, mostly sticking to bleed outs and testing out Fury thrust, being safe than sorry as I slowly refilled my hp by absorbing their life after they died. I am not sure how long or deep I gone but I got to think at least a day over by now. Seems being undead also means I do not need to eat, sleep or anything like that, so that useful while dungeon diving I can ranked in exp unlike other people that need to sleep or take breaks. My pack full of rats tails growing slowly heavier.
I kept going down till I stood before a large oak door and could ‘feel’ something that was behind it. I cracked the door open and peeked inside, after I repaired my weapon to the max and heard a few dings, which I ignored for now.
What I saw was disturbing and seem like someone poked a bit fun at me this time.
Spoiler: Boss
Over its head I saw
Zombie Black Rat Man lvl 5 Boss
Well let it this going, it being undead means the hit and run attacks I used will not work. Since the bleed effect will not happen, this going to be difficult...

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her.
