~Lorne~
We walked out of the barracks and made our way towards the shopping district. I didn't have any money, so I would have to do something to get enough to stay at a nice inn for a few days.
"Morgan, how do you feel about signing up as adventurers and making a bit of money?"
She looked at me a bit confusingly, as if asking why I didn't just steal the money. Before she could speak up I told her:
"I may be evil in some ways, and I may not care about lives all too much, but there are a few things I don't like. These include stealing from innocent demons, and rape of demons or non-humans. I am the savior of demon-kind after all."
With a face saying 'Oh', she just responded with an "Okay, we'll register."
I smiled at her, and she blushed a drop and looked away, and we made our way to the shopping district. Walking into it, it was similar to the city. Not as much people, but there was a decent amount.
I walked over to a random pedestrian and asked him if he knew where the adventurers guild was. The man pondered for a few seconds, but turning around and pointing towards the direction of the guild.
"Just walk that way, make a left then a right, and you'll see it. You shouldn't miss it." (Randy)
"Thank you."
He walked passed us and gave a gesture with his hands saying ''You're Welcome".
I nudged Morgan a bit and we continued forward. As we were walking, a girl bumped into me. She was a rather beautiful demoness.
"Sorry, I'm in a hurry!" (Demoness)
With that, she ran ahead and out of sight. I turned my head towards Morgan and she was staring daggers at the girl. I wasn't sure why though. Maybe it's a girl thing?
After that ordeal, we continued to walk to the guild. After a few minutes Morgan spoke.
"You know that there are people following us, right?" (Morgan)
Morgan whispered into my ear. I began to feel their presences a bit after we left the barracks. The Captain must have regained his senses and sent people to see what we would do.
"Of course"
With that reply, we didn't talk about it again, and we neared the Adventurer's Guild. It was the largest building we encountered so far and from the looks of it, when that man said we wouldn't miss it, he was serious.
The building had three floors, and was maybe 3 stores long. For a time where technology wasn't enough to build skyscrapers, it was impressive. It was wooden, and it had a green roof that was shingled. The most noticeable part was the large sign in the middle on top of the first floor that read "Adventurers' Guild".
Without stopping to marvel it's beauty, me and Morgan walked to the front door. It had a 'gate' similar to an old western swinging door. After walking through it and feeling like a western bounty hunter, we proceeded through rotating doors.

What we walked into was what I expected. There were some desks with reception workers talking to adventurers, and there was seating areas. There was a bar to the far right, and a quest board on the far left.
"You look a bit impressed. Is there something interesting that you see?" (Morgan)
"Ah.. well, my world doesn't have an Adventurers' Guild, or any magic or monsters for that matter. We have made books and manga about things like this though, and the building here is pretty accurate to what we guessed/imagined."
"Manga?" (Morgan)
"A picture book of sorts. I like to use the internet though."
"...In-tur-neht?" (Morgan)
I laughed a bit about how she said it.
"Don't worry."
After our chat was over, I looked again and saw that everyone was looking at us. I didn't like the hateful glares all too much. Morgan was also getting a lot of looks. However, for a different reason.
"Let's just go register. Ignore their stares."
With a nod, Morgan began walking to the counter and I followed. Whispering flooded the room but I ignored it. I focused my attention towards the receptionist.
"Um.. Hello, welcome to the Gorghen Adventurers' Guild. One of the 3 major guilds. How may I help you?" (Receptionist)
The receptionist was a blond demoness, and she had fear in her eyes. I wasn't particularly sure why, but I answered her question.
"Me and my partner would like to register as adventurers."
~Morgan~
Partners? As in partners in love?!!
~Lorne~
Behind me, Morgan became very red for some reason. I ignored her and looked back at the receptionist.
"Ah, oh course. Please follow me to the testing area." (Receptionist)
We were led by the receptionist out of the main hall and further down. I never really realized, but the guild was rather large. It definitely lived up to its name as one of the 3 major guilds.
After walking a bit, we arrived at a white walled room. At the center was an orb. We were motioned to walk through. With Morgan still beat red, we walked towards the orb.
"Please place your hand on the orb. It will publicly show your stats and name for us to record and input to your guild cards. We will also rank you according to those stats." (Receptionist)
Morgan nodded and walked forward towards the orb, but I was set into a state of panic.
Master, is there a way to hide my stats somehow? If I show them, things will get very complicated.
Hmm... I don't think it is possible. You can hide stats from others that use [Identification] on you, but this orb is different. You shouldn't worry though. They are demons, and they are what you are fighting for. If they get in your way then simply kill them. You are very good at that little demi-god of death, hmm?
Demi-god of death?
You'll see in due time. Just put your hand on the orb.

Yes master.
Morgan placed her hand on the orb, and information was popped up.

The receptionist panicked and ran out of the room. Morgan looked at me with a confused face, and I laughed a bit at the receptionist's reaction.
We waited for not even a minute before the receptionist ran back in, followed by another girl. I almost fell the floor upon seeing the girl.
It was exactly what I expected the guild master to look like, and I began to lose faith in this world and how easily it continued to meet my expectations. The stereotypes from my world were really too powerful.
The girl was a blond loli demoness in important looking clothes. Her hair was in pigtails and she had blue eyes.
"Is this her?" (Guild Master)
"Yes" (Receptionist)
After the receptionist answered, the guild master's face became concerned once she saw the stats that Morgan threw at her. The loli took a few steps towards Morgan.
"Just who are you, and why are you here?" (Loli)
Morgan looked at me, and the loli caught on and turned towards me as well. After seeming to understand that Morgan was looking towards me for an answer, the loli guessed that I must be a superior of some sort.
"Answer." (Loli)
I looked at her and became a bit mad. I glared at her and received a message.
Skill LearnedDevil's Stare - Stare into the opponent's soul, sending fear into them and immobilizing. Strength of effect depends on magic power used. (10/10)
A bit happy with the new skill, I used it and put in around 500 mp (magic power). With that, the loli's face stiffened and she was clearly under the effects to some extent. She was about to act and attack me, but I walked towards the orb and stopped the stare.
She was freed, but deeply confused.
"What the hell are you doing?" (Loli)
I didn't stop.
"Watch."
Her confusion halved and became interest as well.
I put my hand on the orb to show her my name, stats, and title. This was the best explanation I could give her to shut her up and show her who is superior.

The loli stopped moving and just stared. I wasn't even surprised at this point. She broke. I should have seen this coming.
"Where is the guild master's office? Lead me."
I talked to the receptionist, and she was about to look at my stats before I ran in front of her. It didn't look like I ran, but more like teleporting because I moved so fast. I did it to block her view of my stats so she wouldn't faint. (Edit: Think of a sidestep, but multiplied by like 5. There was wind, but it was in the receptionist's eyes [POV] so she barely saw the movements.)
She became very scared as I looked at her and she nodded her head and walked out.
I grabbed the loli who still hadn't recovered and we followed the receptionist to the guild master's office. She motioned inside once we were at the 3rd floor and I walked in, followed by Morgan who had a very angry face. It must be because I was holding the guild master.
I laughed a bit at her and she became a bit red and turned her head away as we walked into the room. I continued to move forward and I sat the guild master down in her seat. I then took a seat on one of the couches in front of her desk, and Morgan did the same. She sat right next to me.
Next was the waiting game.
-----------------
Just to put it out there, Lorne's name is pronounced as 'Lorn'. The same ending as 'Thorn'. I'm sure a lot of you have been pronouncing it that way anyway, but there might be a few sounding it otherwise.
I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter. :) Advertisement Previous
