《A Different Kind of Hero (-)》Chapter 6: I Think I Found The Boss

I slowly opened my eyes and looked around. I was still in the cave. I don't know what I really expected. Maybe that this was all a dream? But even so, who would want to wake up from this? I've been bullied my whole life and now I have the power to avenge myself. Who would just throw away that power in hopes that this was all fake?
I stretched my arms out, and relieved myself with that slight burning sensation and exhaustion you get when you stretch as hard as you can. I sat up and cooked some more fish for breakfast with [Flare] and ate. After the meal, it was about time for me to continue. I'm on floor 80, and each floor takes like 30 minutes to complete. If the dungeon has 100 floors, it should take me maybe 20 hours. But, this is only if each floor takes me 30 minutes.
This excited me. The past 2 floors I have been to have given me no trouble, and with these skills that I'm getting it just makes things easier. If I were to encounter a lava floor, then I might get something like fire resistance.
I could complete the dungeon today and bang it out, but I'd rather be careful. I know I'm powerful, but that's no excuse to just charge in. I will complete it in two days time. I'll aim to get to floor 90 today, then finish it tomorrow or extend the time if necessary.
After my brief planning session, I walked down the stairs to floor 81. As I walked down, it got a bit chilly. AS I descended it got colder and colder until eventually I got a pop-up.
Cold Resistance: Resist all cold. This includes magic and environment. (10/10)
This was going to be very helpful.
I started to walk through just like the other floor I was on with the Kobolds. I expected some type of wooly monster, and could only wonder how it would taste.
The first monster I came across looked like a mini mammoth. It didn't have any tusks, but it definitely was hairy. The hair was brown, and covered the entire animal. It was in a pack with several others, and there was clearly a leader amongst them which had a darker tone. Maybe a spruce color. It was also twice the size of the others.
I equipped my scythe and shot a [Dark Dart] at one of the mammoth things, then immediately shot another at the second. There were now a total of 5 very confused fluff balls, with two having died instantly.
I ran up to them, and they noticed me and attacked. I instantly chopped down two of them and then the other three hesitated. The hesitation was obvious because it was coupled with immense fear.
"Really.. this is way too op, haha!"
I killed the two that were next to the leader, then looked at it. I used identification and was given an explanation.
This is a common animal found in the Somentor Mountains. It is called the Vashnu and they are descendants of the ancient beast known as the Wooly Vasu. These creatures as significantly weaker, but have the strength of 12 men when charging. Their wool is highly sought after for its protective properties from the cold.
The strength of 12 men? I killed those others so easily. Maybe only the leader has the strength of 12 men. I decided that this would be a good test of strength for me, so I put away my scythe and let it charge me. It stomped its feet after I backed up. It seemed to have gained some confidence seeing me back off, but little did it know I was only toying with it.

It began to charge, then reached 30km/hr fairly quickly. I got ready to grab it, and also to jump over it if I couldn't take it. This hit was going to be the strength of 12 men. It was now only a meter away, and closing quickly. I braced for impact, but to my surprise I caught it fairly easily. Its head was rather large so I just held that. It stopped dead in its tracks and tried to push me, but I felt as though a child was pushing me.
I was a lot more confident in my strength now, and then while holding it in 1 hand, and casting [Dark Dart] in my right hand, I compressed it and shot it like a bullet through the animal's skull. It fell over dead and I searched it. I didn't expect to find anything since it was an animal, so I just took it's meat and after using [Flare] to cook it I put it in my Dimensional Pocket.
I then continued my way, fighting a few more groups but eventually reaching the path to the 82nd floor. It didn't take that long. I would say maybe 20 minutes, but I have no sense of time down here so I'm not too sure.
I didn't hesitate in descending and continued. The 82nd floor was just like the 81st. It was cold, but not to me. It only felt like a normal day with a very very slight chill to me. The enemies were generally the same. I killed some groups of Vashnu, but there also these giant bug creatures. They completely disgusted me.
They looked similar to hairy caterpillars and I didn't hesitate in wiping them from existence. I maxed out [Dark Dart]s and added explosiveness. I think it's safe to say that there once were some giant hairy caterpillars.
It was interesting to find out that on max power, these tiny darts left craters that looked like a wrecking ball hit them. This was something I found out upon going around a corner and coming face to face with it. I screamed like a girl and shot like 7 of them and the nasty thing was wiped off the planet.
This went on for like 15 minutes until I hit the 83rd floor.
From the 83rd floor to the 89th floor, it kept getting colder and colder and some new enemies popper up. I kept killing them all and leveled up to level 28. My stats were now all way over 1400 and I was pleased at how fast they were raising. By the 100th floor my stats should all exceed 2200k, which I can only assume is terrifying.
The 89th floor went by pretty well, except the fact that it was another water floor. I guess water levels appear every 10 floors. The water this time was ice cold, and there were seals and other creatures that lived in the cold like giant fucking mutated penguins the size of grown men. The worst thing there was a killer whale, or orca, that was my last obstacle. I killed it with a [Dark Dart] and proceeded. I had no interest in looking any of them since it was irrelevant to me. Plus, I don't know how long I can hold my breath and I'd rather not test it out while more than 30 meters underwater.
I hit the 90th floor and the environment drastically changed almost instantly after passing that light screen similar to before and going down the stairs.
Heat Resistance: Resist all heat. This includes magic and environment. (10/10)

The temperature rose drastically and was now like a warm summer day, but to me there was barely a change. There were creatures similar to the colder levels here, such as the giant caterpillar nightmare fuel. I killed it since it was too close for comfort and sat down to take a break. I've been going at it for several hours, and while I wasn't too tired I was hungry.
I took out the Vashnu meat and chowed down. I previously cooked it so that there wouldn't be blood all over the place in the Dimensional Pocket, as I wasn't sure if I could even get it out. I would have asked master, but it was irrelevant to me since I already figured that there wouldn't be blood everywhere if I put liquid. Why you might ask? I just had a hunch.
I ate and took a nap, sensing my environment for anything that might come near while I doze off.
Perception: Detect any and all living and magic based creatures within [20 meters] (10/10)
Yet another useful skill, but I had a feeling that this was one of the best I've gotten yet.
I slowly dozed off....
....
....
....
"Yawwwwwnnmm"
I woke up peacefully. Nothing bothered me. Maybe because I was near the stairs. I stretched, and could tell that maybe 5 hours went by. I ate a bit from the Vashnu I had left over and continued to go. I was on the 90th floor and didn't know for sure how many there were. I was going with 100, so with determination to finish it I headed off.
Floor 90 was definitely different from the others. There were now fire caterpillar nightmares instead of frost ones, and there were also salamander looking lizards. I killed them all easily and continued. I wanted to speed things through since this was jus too easy, so I sprinted through the dungeon, killing everything that came in my way.
I was pretty fast, maybe as fast as a horse when running. I could tell that I could maybe double my current speed if I tried, but I was in an enclosed area and it wouldn't be smart.
I reached the 91st floor much quicker than before, only taking around 10 minutes this time instead of the 25-30 it would have. I went down, and it got even hotter. I repeated the process as I descended floor by floor. 92. 93. 94. 95.
At floor 96, a new type of enemy popped up with the introduction of lava. They were mini-men that only reached my mid-stomach section. I laughed at their height before realizing mine. I was now 1.8 meters tall, and I was astonished. I grew pretty quickly. I wasn't sure why I was so big, but I was pleased with the outcome.
Anyway, they were slaughtered with little effort. They weren't anything special to me and this somewhat confirmed after identifying them.
This is a Loca. These creatures have the intellect of a human being, and are commonly found living inside of volcanoes. They are responsible for many mined ores that are found inside volcanoes.
The fact that they had the intellect of a human was surprising to me since they just attacked without haste. I figured that this dungeon must change them somehow. Maybe making them real-world npcs because they are dungeon monsters.
I continued my way through until I hit the 99th floor. I was eager to find the end, and hoped that there were 100 floors. I sprinted through the 99th floor faster than before, as fast as I could.
However, upon turning the corner to find the exit a long ways away, there was lava covering the straight pathway to it. I was hesitant at first, but that only lasted an instant as I quickly became confident enough in my resistance. I increased my speed to the max and ran on the lava.
It slightly burned, kind of like the sidewalk on a hot summer day and I kept running.
Liquid Walking: Liquids do not cause any issues for travel. Simply walk on top of them. (10/10)
That was very helpful, and after activating it I was no longer sinking while running, but only the soles of my foot touched the lava like it was a floor. I sprinted and sprinted until I reached the end. I deactivated [Liquid Walking] and stood at the stairs. I was glad that it was finally over, and that was definitely the hardest thing I've come across yet.
I checked my status to see how I've been doing.

I was impressed with my stats. I was level 35 and all my stats were over 2.2k. I was confident and descended the stairs, making my way tot he 100th floor. To my amazement, the 100th floor was a pathway. It only went forward, leading to a door where I could only think the boss of the dungeon was at. The hallway was decorated with lights on the side of the room. There were various pillars all over on the sides, symmetrical and it looked astounding. I was blown away with the look. It looked like the demon lord's castle, or what I thought the demon lord's castle might look like.
In my excitement, I walked through the door after pushing it open I took another step through. There wasn't anything from what I could see, but I eventually heard someone speak after standing there for a few seconds.
"Looks like I finally have a visitor! Too bad you won't be staying long!" (Mysterious Girl Voice)
I already knew there was someone in the room from [Perception], but I figured that it was the boss. I turned around, while I was in the middle of the room that was beautifully decorated and filled with light. There was lava under the platform I was on, and it suited the lair of the dungeon boss.
I was astonished upon seeing the boss jump down. It was what looked like a girl that was maybe 16. A year younger than me. At least, that was only looks.
"So... you're the boss..?"
"What do you think?" the girl said as she puffed out her chest, expressing her breasts which were pretty small and to my liking. She was no loli, though, as she was up to my shoulders. She just had below average breasts.
But anyway, I ignored that part and continued thinking.
Well, I don't know what I expected. I should have known it would have been a girl considering my position...
I checked her stats to see if she was the boss.

I was speechless. This was probably one of the strongest beings in the world, and it is close to half as strong as I am. Hahahaha! This is great! Advertisement Previous
