I walked out of the ravine I was in, looking for a way into some caves. Sure enough I found it after searching for a few minutes. At least my luck is getting better. I walked down the path for a while until a came across a fork in the road. After singing 'Eenie Meenie' I chose right.
I must have walked for around 2 minutes before the path finally split all over the place. It kind of looked like an ant hill's interior. Paths were all over the place, and the first thing I thought was that there must be patrols going through here.
I chose one of the paths at random and continued my way through until I came across what looked like a human sized dog. The difference between this dog and a great dane was that it was on its hind legs. It had iron looking armor covering around half its body with leather on the rest, with a spear in its right hand. I think it was called a Kobold. A type of humanoid dog found as an enemy in most mmorpgs.
I was luckily out of its sight behind a rock. I didn't want to just jump in. I know my stats are abnormal, and very much so at that but they would be useless if I were to die. So, I equipped my Scythe of Death and began walking towards the Kobold. I had already planned an escape route beforehand. If necessary, I would run away through the tunnel I came through, make a right and when I came across a 3 way split I would hide behind a rock. It should just choose a random one and be gone.
However, what happened next was something I didn't expect. As I etched closer to it with every step - my steps were normal walking pace - the Kobold turned my way. Once I was within 3 meters of it, its face of anger quickly turned into a face of complete and utter fear. The fear you would get when you see your most beloved die right in front of you, or have a gun against your head. I took note to see that my thin haze was now within reach of him, and concluded that it gave off some kind of fear.
"A fear inducing aoe auto skill. Pretty convenient"
I thought about slaughtering the thing since it was a monster, so I stopped around 2 meters in front of it. It was trapped and had nowhere to go, and was too afraid to even move. Thoughts kept racing in my head as to whether or not I should kill it. I wasn't sure since it wasn't a demon or beast-kin to my knowledge, however I made up my mind after thinking 'What's one less?'.
I dashed towards it, and before it could even react I slashed my scythe diagonally from the top. To my surprise, it cut the kobold in two. It wasn't even that difficult. I felt like cutting microwaved butter. There was blood everywhere - me included. What surprised me even more was the fact that I wasn't grossed out by this. I fact, I felt indifferent.
I decided to take this chance and practice swinging this thing. Why I didn't do this before hand was beyond me. Possibly because I was too eager to test out my strength?
What I learned was basically that I was strong enough to slice someone in half with a single strike. While I can't determine how strong that kobold was, I'm pretty sure that not of those fucks can cut a living organism in half like it was butter. This made me quite happy. Too bad I can't communicate with Master. I if I could, I would ask if there are skills like Identification and stuff. It could really be helpful.

"There is. Just concentrate on something." (Master)
...
Thanks master.
After that heads up, I was glad that I wasn't completely alone in this dungeon. I took her advice and looted the kobold. I picked up what looked like a silver coin and concentrated on it.
Identification: Identifies all the attributes of an item. 10/10 Skill Mastery
Skill mastery? And why is it on 10?
"Skill mastery is more or less what it says. The higher the mastery the better the skill. An identification on mastery of 1 would only tell you what it was briefly. Ex. A gray coin. However, on level 10 it will give you what you currently see. As for why it's on 10, that's another perk I gave you. I can't have you be spending time increasing your skills, so you'll always get the maxed out skill when you gain it. The only others to get maxed out skills are the heroes, however I gave you a lot of my power. More than Illia has ever, and I gave it to a single person. She isn't as powerful as me directly, so you don't have to worry about someone stronger than you popping up."
Thanks master. Well, that sure was reassuring. I checked the screen in front of me as it said:
This a silver coin. It's worth approximately 1/100 of a gold coin, and 100 copper coins. From the inscriptions of the coin it seems to have been made in Madalone, a city northeast of your current location in the beast forest.
This is going to be pretty helpful.
I continued to loot the Kobold. He had a few more silvers on him and coppers.
"Do I have anything to store this in?"
"Yes. Just think [Dimensional Pocket]" (Master)
I did as she said, and a black abyssal portal appeared in front of me. It was a bit larger than my hand, maybe the size of a basketball. I threw the coins in there, and to test it I tried to take it back out. Just by thinking of what I wanted, I was able to take out 2 copper coins without much trouble. This was going to be very, very helpful.
"How much space does this have?"
"You could probably fit a few mountains in there." (Master)
Very reassuring.
I continued to look through the Kobold, or what remains of it. The only other thing I found that was useful was the spear. I identified it, and it was a very ow quality spear. Probably forged from an inexperienced blacksmith as it had chips on it. I discarded it since it wasn't worth carrying. I'll need to cut the head off the next one I find and take its clothes.
I continued my travels and came across another kobold. I identified it this time.
This is a Lower Kobold Warrior. It seems to be very inexperienced with fights, and should not be much trouble to you, however to an average human warrior it is very deadly. Its strength rivals around 2 human men. Its main fighting style is brute strength.
I was loving this identification skill. It gave me so much helpful information. I had the option to see its stats, but I denied since it was unnecessary. This time, I decided to use [Dark Dart] to kill the kobold. I had practiced earlier when I honed my scythe skills and I now have a grasp as to how it works. I can pretty accurately control its strength and flight path, velocity, and whether or not I should let it explode.

I set it to some of the lowest settings in an instant and it was now what I thought would be the best to just make a hole in its head. The Kobold noticed me but it was too late. From the time I started to the end of thinking the spell name [Dark Dart] it was already dead. The time was approximately 2 seconds. The speed was maxed out so it was basically a bullet to the head.
Now that it was dead, I walked up to it and took the leather it was wearing. It was better than nothing, and it fit me so I was pleased. I ignored the armor and sword since it would only hinder me, and the sword was quite useless just like the spear. I decided to check my skills to see how I was doing.

(10/10)]
I was pleased with my new stats. I gained two levels and my stats went up like 40 points in every category. Around 20 a level, but since it wasn't exactly 20 I figured that it was dependent on what I used the most. At this rate, when I'm at level 20 I should have all stats over 1200. A huge gain on my part, and not even to mention all the skills and magic skills I can invent.
After some self praise, I continued my journey. I came across a bunch of kobolds, but either killed them with a [Dark Dart], or with my scythe. I managed to find a stairway down after 30 minutes of patrolling. Right above the stairs said '79' and this made me pretty happy. Most dungeons from my world had around 100 levels, so at this rate it should take me a few days to clear it so long as the levels were the same as this, or only increased in difficulty slightly.
I came across a few hordes of kobold a while back, but they posed no threat and leveled me to 8. I walked down the stairs, and it to my amazement, it changed settings. Instead of a cave, I was greeted with a lake. It was dark, and I tried to concentrate but I gained the [Night Vision] skill. Unlike [Dark Dart], [Identification] and [Night Vision] were kind of like activatable passives. They didn't cost any mana.
With [Night Vision] on 10 it was almost like there was no difference. The only thing that let me know I was using [Night Vision] was that there was a slight green tint to my vision.
Once I went into the water and started swimming, another two skills were gained.
Breath Holding: Increases the time you can hold your breath. (10/10)
Swimming: Swim at top speeds. Don't feel the water, be the water. (10/10)
Both of these weren't skills, but passives.
I continued my way through, now with much more ease. I was swimming with much more ease and while underwater I could hold my breath for a very long time. Maybe I became a whale? I kept swimming through the giant lake in search of the exit. I kept swimming down, and I came across some sharks and swordfish on the way. They died with ease with my scythe and I moved on. I must have killed around 30 fish before reaching the bottom which took me 20 minutes.
How I was expected to get down here if I wasn't the Harbinger of Death blessed by my master, I don't really know. I came across a thin light and swam towards it. It looked somewhat like a light screen and when I went through it, I was no longer swimming. I panicked a bit since I didn't expect this quick transition, but I caught myself before hitting the floor.
I looked ahead of me after scanning the place, and deemed it safe. The number '80' with the words 'Safe Zone' next to it was seen. It looks like there are safe zones inside of this dungeon. Maybe one every twenty floors? Well, it's nothing for me to worry about currently.
I walked down the stairs and came across a flat room with just a stone floor and the next staircase leading the way to floor 81 across the room. It was illuminated by a rock called Zymorphite, which was fluorescent and pretty convenient as a constant light source.
I decided to take a break and cook some of the swordfish meat I took and put into my [Dimensional Pocket]. I concentrated on my hand and tried to gather heat in my palm and got a pop-up.
Flare: Creates a small fire in the palm of the users hand. Mostly used for utility. Temp is controlled with the amount of magic power used. (10/10)
I cooked the fish in my hand and chowed down, then decided to take a rest. Tomorrow I would continue. I've been through enough for today, and I was tired. It was probably late at night and I should get my rest, whether I'm a demon or not.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

The blue Astrum of memories
Some of you believe in fate and some of you don't. That's ok in our world. In the world that I created Fate has been acting strange and selfish for a long time. She was always fascinated with humans and the fact that they had soulmates because a lot of other races didn't. Ever since humans started traveling through space, that opened millions of new opportunities for Fate to make the human soulmates meet. However, because of her strange behaviour Fate made too many mistakes. After that, Fate made what she thought, was a good move. What she didn't count on was that the good move she made knew that you can cheat fate. One and his crew don't know how ironic it is that she chose them to make her good move. ------------------------------- I didn't use any movies, books or series for inspiration the story is my original work. This is just the result of my weird imagination and brain telling me what to write. I hope you liked it :) It’s just a story, like all of my other stores. It doesn’t have a deeper spiritual, moral or ethical meaning.
