Chapter 22: My power

I woke up and Alice was looking at me with a gaze that could pierce you, trying to find something on my face, no body, something that could show her if I was hurt again. Foolish Alice, I learned from my mistake and now you won’t find anything, bo ha ha.

I got up from the bed when Alice couldn’t find anything and as I stood up, my head started to spin and I fell on the floor.

Alice came to me. I could see her legs as I was holding the sheet of the bed trying to get up. As I tried to get up without any success, I looked at her face and she was smiling like a demon and just said.

“Speak.”

It was sweet voice but it made my blood freeze in my veins and with cold sweat flowing on my back, I told her everything.

I was scolded once again and she tried to make me quit, but I did not let her make me quit.

When she couldn’t hold it in anymore, she slapped me and right after hugged me, and started to cry. I knew it was my turn to make it right and my turn to not get hurt again. Fire started to burn in my soul.

“Alice.”

I called to her and she looked at me with a teary and snotty face.

“Yes?”

“I will get hurt, that can’t change and you know it.”

“But but…..”

“I know you want the best for me and I appreciate it, but let me finish.”

Time to corner her.

“Alice, if I win the tournament then, I will fulfill any one wish you will have for me.”

Normally it should be opposite but in this case I must fulfill the wish or else there would be problems with her nagging me all the time.

As I finished, she started to think with great intensity. You could feel the intensity flowing from her. She was like that for 5 minutes and cold sweat enveloped me again and thoughts like ‘Was it a good plan?’ started to appear in my head.

When she finally looked at me, her teary face changed to that of, I don’t know. It was of concern, wish, lust, and happiness and embarrassment changing steadily. It creeped me out, especially that lust. I am just 12 for god sake, thanks to the training I look like 15 years old but even so.

As I doubted my sanity and especially Alice’s, she talked to me.

“Ehm, ok. I will let you fight in the tournament and stop scolding you, if you will not be hurt but if something were to happen to you then it’s the end. Are we clear?”

“Y-yes ma’am.”

I was frightened by her. No joke about it.

At least now I will have a piece of calm mind. Whenever I fought, in a corner of my mind was her demonic smile. It still makes me shiver.

Alice went to make some food and was mumbling under her breath things like ‘What will I make him do?’, ’Shall we go there?’, ‘Should I show him to my family?’.

The last part made me pale.

As we ate, Alice asked me why am I so pale and I couldn’t possibly tell her about my fear of meeting her parents due to the misunderstanding of me wanting to marry her. If I would say it, blood would be spilled, MY blood would be spilled and in great quantity too.

I did the only thing I possibly could. I smiled and lied as I could. My lie was pretty deep too. I just told her that I am nervous about today’s fights. I am a genius, right?

You would think it is a bad lie but it is not. Don’t forget she wants me to win and so when I tell something like that, fire in her eyes starts to ignite and she will do everything she can to make me win. In this case, she made desserts for me. I can’t even remember the last time I had her desserts. They just melt on the tongue.

But I miscalculated. She was saying, one more, one more and I were stuffed until the brink of my stomach bursting. How can I fight in such a state?

I just thanked her and went on my way. Before I went to the stadium I firstly had to get rid of my overeating. I quickened my mana and blood flow and started to work out. In this way, my energy was spent quicker and the same goes with my overeating.

When I was done, I went to the stadium and sat down, waiting for the 4th round.

I was sitting again with those three. We finally meet up before we came here to sit. I was pestered by the three about how I was feeling and I just said the truth that I was fine but they still did not believe me, so I just patted Lili’s and Sani’s head.

And that’s how everything happened.It’s not even the first fight and I am already mentally exhausted but the fire in my soul is burning even more than before. The Commentator started once again and we all listened with great interest in what special rules will the next round have.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to 3rd day of the tournament and fourth round of the tournament followed by fifth and sixth letting the tournament conclude on the fourth day but don’t let it dishearten you because the tournament is concluded on the fifth day with something special. Fourth round will be almost the same as the last one but with a one more rule being, you must use at least two supporting items. If you have a contracted pet or slave, they must be used in the fight. This can give you great advantage if you have one and your opponent doesn’t. Many of you are asking, why such a rule is used. Answer is really simple and that is to see how you will cope with a situation where you have the advantage or disadvantage and aren’t on equal grounds. What’s more, supportive item can change the flow of the battle and so timing of using it is something necessary. In many fights you can think like ’There’s no use to use healing potion when my enemy is almost dead’ but because of such thinking, many people lost their lives and so we want to see you showing us you know when, and when not use supportive item. All your items are known to us so if you have just one, you must use it. If you have more, than you must use those too. If you won’t comply, you are disqualified so be careful. Now, let the fourth round begin and like the last time, joker is in place again and will follow us until 6th round where best 4 will fight, even though one of them will be the luckiest person though. Let’s see if that luck will be for something.”

So, today I will fight against pets if I will be lucky enough. I can’t contract any animal for some reason so I must use Qwiz and a potion because I have those registered. What a pain.

The fights started again and first fight was Irel vs some guy. The guy summoned a yellow cat so he has contracted beast. From what I can see, it can use lightning and that is no ordinary pet. To use lightning, you must fuse your attribute with your wind element even though some magical being are born that way. This must be the case of this cat. It is too weak to be able to fuse element. Such creatures are much weaker than normal ones that are trained.

Irel put on some new armor I have never seen before. It pulsed with runes and that was it, so this is his enchanted gear. Next he took a bottle and drank it. His muscles started to spasm so it looks like it was Strength potion. It just increases strength.

His opponent had enchanted ring on his right hand. It must be used for strengthening magic or shortening the time of use.

The match started and the two clashed. They were ported to visible range of each other so it was quite a fast development.

Before the guy could even do anything, Irel quickly closed the gap between them and when I say quickly, I mean quickly. Strength potion could not do something like this so it looks like runes are making the armor weight less. Now to look at the opponent’s ring.

The guy protected himself with wind blade and during this time, his pet send spark at Irel but it just hit his armor and zapped him a little. The runes must have some kind of magic protection or else it shouldn’t just zap him a little.

When the guy created wind blade, his ring shined at the spell quickening it,so it works for shortening the cast time of spells.

They went for each other until finally it ended with Irel’s victory. He was hurt slightly and was gasping for breath but nothing major.

When he came back, one fight concluded with a fast pace. Next turn was Sani’s and she put some gloves on her hands. From what I could see, they increased her fire damage and potential. She even summoned some cat with fire like fur. When she was ready, she attacked her opponent who had some enchanted sword and drank a speed potion.

They fought each other in close combat. The fight finished with Sani’s victory and several cuts on her skin. Most of her attacks were blocked by her gloves but her fire cat was pretty good too. Whenever Sani had any openings, it helped with covering it.

Lili had some enchanted necklace and summoned a fire bird. I would think it was phoenix but it was more of a little child that did not look anything like that. It was round and with orange eyes with a beautiful tail so that’s why I said phoenix.

Her opponent used a goblin slave and a potion. It was useless for him though. She used gale and the firebird used ember, they combined the two attacks and let the goblin and the opponent grill in their own juices. Swift and precise victory.

Next was rank 2 and he used an enchanted sword and a little brown fur ball. I don’t have any idea what that pet is. The pet stayed at his shoulder until the fight started, well even after the fight started. The pet started glowing with brown light and then, rank 2 started to run to a certain direction until he found his opponent and then released a water blade on him. He used fire shield and blocked it even though the power behind that water blade was enormous. His enchanted gear is seriously strong. They fought each other, not even letting through each other’s defenses until his opponent couldn’t keep his fire shield in place long enough to stop the attack and was defeated. I did not see his opponent use any enchanted gear and he did not summon anything either. Did he have only potions? Well, now it doesn’t matter.

Last fight was of rank 1 and he did not use anything during the fight and just pummeled his opponent who summoned a pet, used enchanted armor and filled himself with several potions.

The outcome was total devastation. I think those potions just prolonged his misery. It was gruesome in a way.

I was chosen for last fight. I can’t comprehend one thing though. Since the start, only few people made me be careful about them and not even once did they fought against each other. You probably know who I am talking about.

Anyway, my fight. I went there with a certain ambition, to not see tears of the 3 girls once again. When I thought about them, I was happy and frightened. Happy because they cared about my well being and frightened with Alice’s scary smile, and Sani’s, and Lili’s too much taking care of me like last time.

When I waited for the start, I took out Qwiz and gulped a potion. The potion I took increased my reaction speed and for what I wanted to do it was necessary. Maybe you noticed but those of you who did not, I never even once used Phantom swordsmanship and steps at the same time. The skills are helping each other and when you use them at the same time, their power grows at exponential rate. It wouldn’t be any training that way like all the times before.

When fight started, I couldn’t see my opponent so I just concentrated mana inside me, I created a mana ball inside me. It wasn’t dense at all like normal. I concentrated on it and compressed it past its point, letting it flow outside of me like a wave in all directions. It passed through objects until it hit an object with high mana density. This skill is called mana detection and it allows you to find pockets with high mana. In this case, I was finding my opponent. I could feel some weak mana next to him so he probably has pet.

I quickly went to the place he was and stood before him. He looked at me in disbelief. Probably thinking why would his opponent show himself before him.

There was really no reason. I just wanted to do something flashy and something that isn’t bothersome.

My opponent and his enslaved kobold started to attack me. First, the kobold came to be and started to use his claws and bite me but I just dodged them all. With my increased reaction speed, it was like looking at his attacks in slow motion. While the kobold was attacking me, a fireball was shot at me. I pushed the kobold out of the way or else it would be hit too and dodged it.

I think that was enough of a warm up. I gripped onto my sword and coated my mana around the blade. It is hard to do because of rejection of materials but for a while, it can be done.

Kobold started to get on its feet and I side stepped behind him and knocked him out. Fire lances started to fall upon me but I cut them down with my sword. By coating my blade in mana, I can cut through them. I slowly, step by step went to my opponent while he was attacking me. When I was 10 meters from him, he started to run away but I used phantom step and got before him. He smiled and a huge fireball was shot at close distance. I slapped it out of my way with my hand. None could see it and I was glad for it. He did not understand what happened but I just created void bolt in my left hand and pressed it on him.

He fell unconscious and I won.

He wasn’t as good as my last foe but still strong enough. In a fight he was stronger than my last one but without traps like in last fight, it was easy.

Let me explain how my void bold works. Void does not do physical damage. It saps the essence of the opponent. Depending on the skill mastery, it changes what and how much damage it does. At my level, I can damage his mana and damage his mentality. Because he used so much mana and my void bolt took some more and even damaged his consciousness, he fainted or else I would need to hit him with it many times, that’s why it is more of a trump card rather than skill that should be fired all the time.

At higher levels, it can damage even the body and can home itself on the opponent making evading it difficult. There are many more hidden abilities with this skill, even though it is basic of the basics.

I would normally do not use it but at the position I was in, no one should be able to see it so I did it. I wanted to test how effective it is.

I was declared shortly after. It took quite a while because they did not understand what happened until I heard someone saying I punched him in the gut or something. I was really glad for this misunderstanding.

I went back to my seat and the joker was chosen. We got some time to recuperate and so we went outside to clear our heads and waited for the fifth round.

I wonder what next rules will be.

I got pissed at some of you saying Ris is weak, he does not use Void, give him more Void spells. I told many times. Void is thought useless exactly because it does not have many basic spells like other affinities. And some of you said he is getting hurt a lot. That is because he was training and used only 30% of his strength. In this chapter, I made it so you would see some of his power. I did not want to use void spells but take it as thanks from me.

Anyway, one guy commented about void skill so if you want to see some void skills then comment too but don’t make them OP like black hole or what not. Just basic ones if you want but I won’t guarantee I will use them due to world’s rules.
